| I guess in the sense of initial story format sure. Eren and Amuro both have scientist fathers who have the key to some secret weapon. Both of their homes are attacked and destroyed and eventually over time the conflict wears them down into a depression. You have other aspects like Amuro (at points) and Eren wanting to war heroes and having that shattered in some way due to loss and a change in world view. Both usually are both about hatred, costs of war, dehumanization etc. So in the story format it isn't off entirely. Eren ends up more like Char in the end though so that's kinda the difference there. |

| i mean, aot is getting pretty weird, i don't know much about gundam, what i do know though is that they are flying in space and shit so at the end, attack on titan could mean an attack on the moon of saturn, titan, and that would explain the english translation of the title (maybe they had some nasty inside info or smth) |

| It depends on your definition of "gundam", If you mean mecha then I wouldn't say so, Mecha is the word "Mechanical" in japanese so even though bio-mechas exist, Like in Eva, 100% bio titans without a speck of mechanical components make me not consider them mecha. |
