Even if it's a really good anime, I wouldn't rewatch it for that reason. The only time I would rewatch an anime is if a new season is approaching and I have forgotten a lot of the important parts of the previous season.

Sometimes i rewatch an anime just to recap before i watch the next season cause some anime took such a long time for a new season to come out.I just didn't want to forget any detail.

I don't understand watching an anime again when they know everything that already happened, the conclusion, the ending, the plot twists even.

For this reason, I don't have much interest in rewatching a lot of programmes unless it has been years since I saw it. But for me, this isn't just a matter of fatigue - I also want to forget as much as possible so that I can still be surprised by some of it in the event that I do rewatch it.

Some series are worth it, as well - for programmes like Serial Experiments Lain, you can see different things in it on different watches. But there are some that you don't want to rewatch too soon, because they were so good and you don't want to get tired of them, like Now and Then, Here and There.

To see your favorite characters again and get the unique vibes back. If the anime were truly something which gave you strong emotions and left you speechless, then it's easily rewatchable.

Rewatching is normally to refresh your memory if a new season is coming out, or because It has been a long about of time since t you last seen it and you want to enjoy it again.

Based on you're list you haven't watched anything not even 1 % yet out of everything that exist here.

The more you watch the more shows you find that you love, normaly if you find something you enjoy you want to watch it again.

Then you have shows like Monogatari Serie that are better the second time you watched it, as you have a better understanding about the characters and story. As it can't be rather wierd the first time you watch it.

And the biggest thing is that it come a point when you have watched 2.5k shows, that it feels like the once that is left to watch will never be better the best once you have already finished.

If I didn't overrate ReZero etc, it would be around 2 years ago I gave a show max score.

There are multiple reasons i rewatch/reread.

1. A new Season/Novel gets released and i wanna remember all the stuff that happened up to the point of the new Season.
2. It has been a long as time since i last watched/read it and i just wanna enjoy some good stuff, i reread some of my all time favorites once a year. Or i am generally just in the mood for a show that did its genre better than any other.
3. The Novel/Series is so ambitious i feel the need to watch/read it multiple times to really comprehend what is being said. The best example for this are philosophical classics but also many Inio Asano or Stanley Kubrick works fall under that category.

Something that i just cant rewatch probably also wont get a score above 7, if its not worth watching twice how great can it be?

If there is a song you really like do you only listen to it once because there are songs out there you haven't listened to? Most people would say no and its the same way with movies, tv shows, books, comics and anime. If you enjoy something why only enjoy it just once?

A good example for me is early releases, like the recent ones for Jujutsu Kaisen (TV), Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and Strike Witches: Road to Berlin, which all had pre-releases in September, ahead of their official releases. Watching an early release can help you get a better idea of what's to come in terms of anime, or if you're simply curious about things to check out, it gives you a chance to "sample" series, as I call it. Either way, early releases can be pretty good to watch, but since they don't contain everything the episode as to offer (such as often the case missing the OP/ED themes) and the actual version would usually have those, its important to re-watch an episode in such case, since you want to get the most out of the watching experience and you don't want to be stuck having missed an important part that was added in the full version, but that you didn't check because you thought it'd be fine with you watching just the early release..^^'>
Also another one is the tags, like if a series you want to watch uncensored (that has an uncensored version out either right away or eventually) is censored, then you might want to re-watch the series later on in that case as well.

There's plenty of reasons to rewatch a series, I usually do it whenever I start getting nostalgic for a series I enjoyed. I just periodically get that urge I guess.

It also helped me understand big brain anime like Garden of Sinners that confused me the first time. The repeated exposure allowed me to comprehend the buddhist themes the series was explaining so I could understand the metaphorical meanings everything has a result.

Im also confused to why people rewatch shows besides wanting to recap. Even my absolute favorites i would never want to rewatch unless it was so long i forgot. 90% of the fun is the excitement of not knowing. Take away that and might as well watch your rewatch your favorite scenes like comedy and action, but rewatch the whole thing?

Why not? If the show warrants a rewatch, then I might as well do it, there are many shows I actually liked more on rewatch than I did the first time around.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

Depends on the anime and context

The last anime I rewatched was FMAB, something I didnt watch since it stopped airing, so my perspective on the world and how I watch an anime changed through the years...I used to care about the plot, now I care about characters, their motivation, principles and philosophies

When rewatching FMAB Ive learned more about the characters and understood them better

The other manga I re-read was Berserk because I wanted to pay more attention to the dialogue and to see if I missed anything

These things only happened when the manga/anime you consumed had content worth reflecting over
People also rewatch anime because they forgot what happened and what to be ready for new seasons or because they were too young to fully understand some of the content(DBZ for example is often looked as a kids show but theres some mature content in it that kids cant understand)

Here's my opinion based on my personal experience:

I've been watching subbed anime since about 2007, before that was dubbed for as long as I can remember, for a long time I didn't see a point in rewatching either but recently I'm much more open to it, some of the reasons:

1. You watched it dubbed or you were very young and couldn't get the whole experience
2. If it's a long anime, You watched it long ago and you can't remember important scenes that will help you relate more to current plot, you don't want to just google it
3. You enjoy that anime so much and it has a high rewatch value (i.e doesn't rely on plot twists)
4. New season came out and you want to refresh your hype
5. You want to re-experience what you felt in your first watch (usually does not live up to it sadly)
6. You can't find an anime to satisfy that same urge that you haven't watched already
7. You rushingly dropped it years ago and want to give it another chance

Some of my points seem repetitive but I'm trying to say you don't need to rush rewatching, I think it's something that'll happen naturally when there's a cause for it

My most recent example is Oregairu, I rewatched season 1&2 because I forgot characters and events while watching season 3, ended up appreciating the whole series more

Think for the most part, people only re-watch to recap/refresh things for an new upcoming season or because they haven't seen the show in a long time. It's rare that people would immediately re-watch a show or series within a short period of time. If they do re-watch a show relatively quickly its usually for a specific reason. For example, like was there some sort of foreshadowing that I skipped over or context clues to something that was missed the first time through.

The only reason I'd ever consider rewatching a show is if I think my perception of it would change. A more extreme example of this would be Ojamajo Doremi which I watched the first season of in middle school with the 4Kids. I rewatched it a year ago in Japanese and the rest of the series along with it. Not only did I get a new perspective of it, but I now love magical girls a lot more than I did back then which made my appreciation and love of it grow tenfold.

Either that or you could rewatch a show you like with a friend.

Why not. Sometimes rewatching can make you more aware and understand the plot/character better. In addition, when you feel like it and nothing else to watch.

I will be rewatching Chizuru again later

Other than the obvious fact that you can forget a lot about a show after some years pass, if it's a good show and I've seen it, then I know I'm not wasting my time by watching it since it's guaranteed to be good.
Of course you also just want to revisit scenes with your favorite characters. Why the fuck wouldn't you rewatch? Oh noes I might miss out on some seasonal harem because I spent my day rewatching Madoka for the 5th time. The horror!

Do you watch anime only because of the surprise ?, There are many aspects of a show that's entertaining and don't feature unpredictability like the music, visuals, many actions scenes, etc. Also, Since you change everyday, You're gonna notice things that you didn't notice before, Especially if it's a deep anime, Plus you forget things, Even if you still remember the important plot points, Many details will be forgotten, If you waited long enough.
I don't speak English that much, so please cut me some slack

I used to be just like that, "watching a show once is enough for me!"... but then I found Orenchi no Furo Jijou which was (and kinda still is) the funniest anime I have watched (personally of course) but the thing about that show is, the episodes are like 3 minutes long, I watched the entire series in 53 minutes. so, since it was really good and always managed to put a smile on my face, and was very convenient to watch since it was so short, I decided to watch it again one day. then again..... and again.... at the moment i have watched it 5 times.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that if you find a series you REALLY love, and you love more then just the shock it gives you when a plot twist comes up, if you love the characters, the art, the situations they get themselves in? I don't think you would mind re-watching it
(by the way this was not me trying to get you to watch Orenchi no Furo Jijou, that show is definitely not for everyone lol)

When I first started really getting into anime, I felt the same way you did to be quite honest. "Yeah sure, I love Sword Art Online and Naruto, but why would I re-watch them when I remember everything and have so much new stuff to watch?" That aside, the longer you stick around in the anime community, and the more you watch, the more you realize the merit behind re-watching stuff. As some people have already mentioned, sometimes you need that refresher on the previous season before the new one starts to make sure your memory is up to par. Other times it's a series with a lot going on that you want to make sure you haven't missed anything within. However, for me, the reason I love to re-watch series is that there comes a time when you don't remember a series perfectly clear anymore. Or even when you do, you love it enough to want to experience it again. Watching stuff that way isn't and never will be for everyone, but for me, I will always prioritize re-watching a series I know I love over just boosting my stats. I've seen MHA's first three seasons more times than I would care to admit and the forth a few times already. There is no guarantee that you will ever feel the need or urge to re-watch anime, and that's just fine. However, in the exact same way, it is more than okay that so many of us love to re-watch anime. It's a way to relive that moment or enjoy a series once again, and if you can still have just as much fun watching it again as the first time, why wouldn't you?

After a while I forget more minor details, and after years I forget even bigger plot points so rewatching definitely helps to refresh my memory. I also like to have something familiar on to have in the background while I'm working. That way if I am not paying 100% attention it won't matter since I know the plot.

I'm honestly baffled that something so obvious even needs to be asked. Leaving aside the more typical answers such as forgetting things or emotional fulfilment, rewatching with clear awareness of what will happen will allow you to better spot points of foreshadowing for later events or other subtle details that may have flown over a viewer's head on the first watch. If a work is very intricate, it's doubtful a viewer will catch every minute detail on the first viewing.
