https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/18/coronavirus-americans-protest-stay-at-home

As of today, more than 40,000 Americans have died due to COVID-19.....FORTY FUCKING THOUSAND! That is almost Double the number in Italy and the official number of infected is almost at 1,000,000!

We are still having more than 2,000 die per day....the virus is simply NOT letting up....and yet...

Right-Wingers are now going into the streets DEMANDING the lockdowns in their respective states end and to reopen the country.

There is a GOOD reason why I predicted (not that long ago) that the number of deaths in America would be far HIGHER than the predicted 100-200K.

https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1833354

In interviews, people have LITERALLY said they prefer to DIE than to be locked down.

Personally, I understand the frustration, these last 4-6 weeks have been some of the most frustrating moments I can remember.

From the American viewpoint, this Pandemic has been FAR worse than 9/11...not just because of the deaths, but because of the mental, economical, and physical strain it has had on basically EVERYONE!

Anyways...we are reaching a boiling point, and it looks ugly.

I want the economy reopened under a couple caveats which have already been addressed (movie theaters, cons, and the like being closed). Also, I think it was premature opening the beaches because the government study said the virus can be killed by high heat, humidity, and sunlight, but in Florida it's not hot out (77 isn't going to cut it, you need at least 85 degree temps and high humidity is also recommended). However, midwestern summers get to be 90-100 degrees+ with at least 80% humidity, the ideal conditions to kill the virus, also deserts might fare well from this as well.

Okay for the start, I really understand if some people want to reopen it, because so many became unemployed and got into a financial crises. They might think they got no other chance but go to work again to sustain their life.
I understand that thought process but not "open up because I'm so booored and my freedom got violated!"-people, while many people are dying from the virus.

That was wrong. There are many virus in Africa and India too, so some virus can take the heat. Also India and other very warm countries are in danger as well, that was proven.

You shouldn't be able to understand either thought processes because they're both wrong. You open up and it's just going to be shut back down again with an even worse situation job wise than it was before, these people are completely incoherent with their thoughts.

Do I sense a bit of sarcasm there? lmao

Since most people just love to quote year long death rates like the flu, car accidents and all other manage of BS I'll do the same:

So 40k so far in less than a month, so going by that at this rate by the end of the year with no increases will be at:

40000 x 12 = 480k deaths

Those are the numbers if the US remains locked down for the next 12 months in the exact situation we are right now. However what happens if California or other major urban areas became a second new york? Yes, massive increase in deaths and even more infected and a complete spiral out of control.

New York is the main factor of deaths and if 3 more urban regions decided to become like new york it'd easily be 480k + 480k+ + 480k+ + 480k which is nearly 2 million deaths and that's not accounting for the massive increase in infections that would cripple the medical industry and cause even more deaths from cases unrelated to the virus [thousands of people get stabbed and shot every single hour in the US so what happens when they can't get treated? or also become infected because they had to share a room with a corona case? you get the picture].

This entire situation is us at the very tip of a giant ice spire and it's rocking left and right and one gust of wind could cause us to fall and be impaled by the thousands of spires below us.

That's true, but I could understand people being desperate for money, if they can't sustain food, shelter and other basic needs for so much longer.
I'm also getting a bit support from the state right now, since I was looking for a new job before the crises came and suddenly I couldn't. I'm just glad, I'm not one of the people with children to feed. My mom was with minimum wage and all and that was shit.

Feels bad to get support from the state tho, since I feel like a god damn neet, although I'm glad I can easily live from it for myself for now..
Other people can't easily live with, because they have others to feed.
So at least I COULD understand their reasonings and being worried about the future. As I know the US government gave away the 1.000 $ only once and I don't know how much welfare support you got over there.
I don't mean that it's right in a logical sense, but it's easier to understand on a human level than "don't violate my rights of freedom!", which is totally illogical in that situation, and not that superficial like some of these people.

Wtf is wrong with you, US.
That should be the exception, not happen to thousands on daily basis.

Oh please, the sheer frustration of having to spend 6 weeks in your oversized house or apartment with an abundant supply of food and other essential products as well as electronic devices with unlimited internet access, electricity, hot water, flush toilet and a heating system.

Must've been unbearable for the average person.

lol ikr. I remember those old dank meme "first world problems", that would be so fitting right now.

Why does America has to be special in everything? Can't they just look at asian, heck even european countries and learn from them? And how do you even link freedom to not staying at home? Freedom is not about being able to do whatever you want, freedom is also about being responsible. Otherwise I could argue that my definition of freedom allows me to shoot people. Isnt putting people in jail for killing other people removal of freedom? Why dont we allow complete anarchy then?
Seriously, saying lockdown is not necessary because "duh my freedom" is irresponsible to say the least.

But... boiling something is clinically proven to sterilize it!
Therefore, bringing America to a metaphorical boiling point will kill corona virus. You can't infect people I already killed, Covid. Checkmate.

It's pretty common for people from the USA to have guns, but I wouldn't feel safe having a gun at home that casually.Imagine being able to pick up a gun at any time since it's within your reach.Things could go extremely wrong at the split of a second.

Really, people can't even go into a public restroom and wash their hands if necessary. Just put a couple of cans of disinfectant in the bathroom if that what it takes.People who use the restroom can sanitize it themselves. I don't see the need to open a business like a nail salon. There are dozens of these places near where I live and I don't see the need for so many.

Wait a minute, is that a protester protesting about protesters by blocking blockers before they can block others?

What kind of ridiculous stuff is happening in America right now? What is the police even doing? Getting rid of the kind of peoples like that woman or making sure they're not blocking anything is their job, why is another civilian blocking them instead?
Also why is that idiot passing by touching him casually for zero reason?

Yh the Problem of the whole Discussion is that none of these ppl are talking about how the ristrictions should be lifted.

They just only talk about keeping them or Lifting them.
And Idiots just think that all should be opened.

Oh, I see. When I hear "a remote island" I don't exactly picture infrastructure in my head though. The word kind of suggests that it's far from civilization therefore having little to no infrastructure. Or at least that's what I thought.

To be fair, those protesters don't represent the majority of Americans. That's why people say Americans are stupid. I mean every country has it's idiots but they are less than 1% of the country yet a third of them close to be legally retarded. There's a reason why "only in America" is so often used.

Sounds like you haven't had a lot of exposure to foreign countries lmao Australia is literally doing the same exact thing is the US as we speak and it's literally just about to hit winter/flu season here and the rest of the world is in literal chaos and I'd say 80% of Australians think it's over here when it's literally just about to begin [if you're an Australian reading this feel free to say differently but I'm almost positive 80% of the entire population here is legally retarded in the truest sense].

What are you talking about, the internal temperature of the human body is around 98 degrees F and the virus seems to survive in the human body just fine.

You're still not getting it? The hospitals are saturated in every country majorly touched. That's why there is a lockdown, to avoid having even more peoples that need to be hospitalized to survive, since there's no room or no equipment for more peoples. it's also devastating nursing homes. Some nursing home in France have reported losing near 50% of their patients and they're not out of it at all.
The governments (or at least any decent government) simply want to avoid mass amount of peoples dying by over saturation of hospitals. The key point is "if you're going to get sick, at least don't get all sick at the same time so that we can have room for everyone".
It's not rocket science to understand that, right?

I'm not sure how we can still be on lockdown with the antibody numbers.

The economy is in shables and we need to stop this damn lockdown.

You're still not getting it? The hospitals are saturated in every country majorly touched. That and anitbodies isn't evidence of immunity: https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/health-news/who-says-no-evidence-of-covid-19-immunity-from-antibodies/ar-BB13c8Jt?li=BBnb7Kz

That's why people say Americans are stupid. I mean every country has it's idiots but they are less than 1% of the country yet a third of them close to be legally retarded. There's a reason why "only in America" is so often used.

Trump even called them out when he said he could shoot someone dead on 5th avenue and they would still vote for him, even he knows how stupid they are. It must be a nightmare for normal Americans.

What population? The USA's or Australia's? Because Australia has gone really down hill when it comes to education.

I'm talking about the Australian population. I'm a dual US/Au citizen that lives here and from what I've seen both the government and general population have serious issues when it comes to understanding reality, no clue if it's due to the isolated nature here but the people I've met, how the country is run and basic principles and mindsets of people are seriously lacking when compared to the rest of the world.

I agree. I'm Australian too and I find that both sides cannot understand. Especially state governments who usually do their own thing and usually get their priorities wrong.

So I'm curious as to why Jeremy Corbyn's brother is promoting hydroxychloroquine and doing these protests against Boris getting arrested.

The longer the reopening takes; the more unemployment, inflation, and shut down businesses will occur tbh. I can see both sides.
