Seeing there is Soul Eater in your favorite, it's a surprise you don't pick Soul Eater OPs. Any of them, OP1 is one of the best I have ever seen, and any anime soundtrack from Tomoko Kawase are always good as far as I remember.

I can't pick top 3 favorite though, there is too much of them I love in the same level. I can barely even pick my top 3 anime. This thread will be closed or merged soon anyway lol.

Also, I didn't make it that far in OP yet! (One Piece, I mean. I guess "OP" could mean opening or One PIece, eh) 😂I know, I'm a loser for not having made it that far. But someday I'll be able to say that I've listened to that song on repeat. I agree though, One Piece has some AMAZING OP's.

I haven't seen much of "Hajime no Ippo" but that's a sexy bassline and electric guitar.

Although not my favourites, I also remember the Guilty Crown, Full Metal Panic and Darling in the Franxx openings to be catchy. Sometimes an opening is great just for visuals too: Mob Psycho 100 for example. Probably left out a lot of other good ones, and there's a lot I haven't seen...

But like you were saying about visuals (which is always a big factor in determining great OP's and something I considered when making my list too), Cowboy Bebop has great OP visuals, as does the Mob Psycho one (both seasons), which I watched over and over again.

It seems like everyone on MAL has seen Steins Gate, Code Geass, and Evangel, and they've been on my Plan to Watch list for a long time now. Maybe I should get my shit together and finally see what the hype is about.

I'm finally starting to use this site more, it's fun! I kinda went crazy listing all those openings, but I couldn't stop after putting a few down haha. I don't think it's too comprehensive, there's just so much I haven't seen yet!

I agree about those soundtracks, especially FLCL really appealed to my tastes. And yes Cowboy Bebop's opening is probably a little overrated, but it's just so iconic and fits perfectly with the whole mood/visuals like you were saying.

Definitely get on to watching those 3 anime! NGE is my favourite, though its a love it or hate it kind of thing. Steins Gate and Code Geass are AWESOME too. There's few people who would dislike them! Your own list reminded me that I need to get MY shit together to watch Welcome to the NHK! I started the manga a while back but can't ever seem to find the next volumes... Maybe watching it would be easier.

Honestly, I've never even heard of "Kiznaiver" but I had to check it out considering it was someone's "best opening they've ever seen". I wasn't let down my dude. I actually only found a video of a still image with the full song playing in the background, so I have yet to see the visuals you're talking about. But really, that was a killer song. Had some "Take On Me" (a-ha) vibes lol. It's a very unique track. It feels like it's building up to something the whole way through and yet there's never a bass drop or anything. Which I think is a cool attribute. Yeah, musically it's got a distinct vibe that I can't describe, but I liked it a lot.

I explored the anime's premise a bit and it looks like an interesting watch. I'll have to add it to my Plan to Watch list. If I watch it anytime soon, I think I'll be adding "Lay Your Hands On Me" to my list. Thanks for bringing this all to my attention.

Haha, yeah I hear Neon Genesis has a VASTLY mixed reception. But just like I did with Cowboy Bebop, I'm gonna have to force myself to watch it to be a part of the action, regardless of how good or bad it is! I might even start it after my homework ptf. The thing that scares me about all three animes is that they're BIG. Like, -- rabbit holes of their own. I'm afraid they'll be so immersive that it truly distracts me from my IRL priorities.

Any who, I too suddenly found MAL to be fun after two years of not really using it as well. Try using the forums a bit more... you seem to have more insightful things to say than a lot of the other users on here! And START Welcome to the NHK too, geez. It was my first anime and to this day is what I'd consider the best! I should probably pick up the manga too. Thanks for the suggestions fam

I think the operatic/rock n roll tone for SnK's OP's are VERY fitting. They definitely do justice to the show. They're also some of the most high-energy songs too. I don't really see them as solid bops worth listening to in your spare time, hence why I wouldn't call them the bEsT, but that's beside the point. Actually, the more I think about it, the more you might be right. Factually, they very well might be top tier.

That is, AFTER Tokyo Ghoul is considered. You seemed to have placed "Unravel" at the very top. I've never seen Tokyo Ghoul, although maybe I should because everyone on MAL already has. Still, I listened to it and damn that's amazing. Really stands out from other OP's. Probably because of the distinctive falsetto the guy sings in. It's great. Thanks for the suggestions!!!

These are all very modern animes, right? I recognize all of them having seen the trailers on Crunchyroll. They're all pretty solid bops -- ESPECIALLY Index's, in my opinion. I think the OP's all LACK a distinctive quality, and may leave me susceptible to forgetting them if I don't skip over them at the start of every episode... but that's just me.

I wouldn't call any of em bad. And I'd actually rank them best to worst in the way you listed them. (That's just in terms of OP's though... I'll need to take a more in depth look at their endings). All three are likeable though and I wouldn't object to them being included in someone's Favorite OP list!

After you hyped me up for this OP, I clicked play and couldn't help bursting out and laughing. I don't know what I was expecting tbh.

I think it's a very decent song by all means, don't get me wrong. It doesn't look like an OP that -- if I were watching the anime -- that I'd skip at the start of each episode.

I think it COULD be a LITTLE more distinctive, but it's catchy af all the same. I never heard of this anime but the characters are undeniably cute.

Also, I almost missed your mention of Land of the Lustrous. The OP has some stunning visuals and a very fitting melody. It's very relaxed. Definitely calms the tensions of COVID doesn't it? LOTL is actually an anime I've seen and I'm considering reading the manga because oh my gosh they couldn't be BOTHERED to make a second season COULD they? There's so much plot potential left.
