| I feel like those who have watched a lot of anime have at least one character where there opinion on that character is completely irrational; whether it be liking them or disliking them, our reasons behind it are either difficult, or maybe impossible to explain. For example, I love the "Monogatari Series" to death. I love almost every single character and I think that it may have the best lineup of female characters in all of anime (Obviously just an opinion). HOWEVER, i hate Hanekawa Tsubasa and I honestly could not give anybody an explanation as to why. For some reason, I just can't seem to get myself to like her despite her being a crucial character in the series and only being helpful to Koyomi from the very start all the way to the finish. So, I ask, Whether it's liking or disliking a character, do you guys have any characters that you have an irrational opinion about? |

| Probably loads, but it was actually really hard to think about. I guess for me, a character I irrationally love would have to be someone larger than life, like All Might or Jotaro, because I can just watch them do absolutely anything and there'd be a massive grin on my face. Or Kasane Kujiragi from Durarara!! She's only in five episodes or so of the whole series, but she just seemed super cool and hot to me for whatever reason. Maybe I just have a thing for women in yellow. As for irrationally hate, maybe Ayano's mum from Hanebado? The woman who abandoned and replaced her daughter because she wasn't good enough at badminton when she was like, six, and who never sees any direct consequences for it. Yeah, fuck her. |

| Normally, I dislike loser type of characters, but Satanichia is amongst my top favourite anime characters, despite being totally uncool and a complete and utter failure. She is the exception to the rule. |

| I like Taiga (from Toradora). It makes no rational sense since the kind of abuse she at first puts out in the series would be obnoxiously bad IRL, so anyone with a tiny amount of sense would just say "welp, fuck this, no matter what reasons she has for being who she is, I don't have to endure this shit". Subconsciously though, I just look at it as a caricature, not real violence. Like the writers just went "well, we need a way to show loneliness hidden by a barrier of apathy, how do we do that while still having time to have a decently plotted 20 minutes? oh just make her comically violent, she's a woman, it's not like it can be taken serious". So I end up "forgeting" that part and just look at the character for the sweetness that came after. In purely rational terms, she's an awful person. |

One of my favorite characters,Kuroki Tomoko from watamote is also an awful person, but I sort of enjoy her cynicism and crippling awkwardness, even if other people might find it cringy.Like sure, she might get awfully cynical and make lots of assumptions about people sometimes, but her actions never goes to the extent where you would think she is a terrible person(at least for me),because i understand the feelings that drive her to do such a thing. |

| Idk, I always have a reason when I feel strongly about a character either way and to me that reason makes sense so it's never 'irrational'. I mean I also don't like Hanekawa, she's probably my least favorite Monogatari girl, but I definitely don't hate her and I can list some reasons why I don't like her all that much. Firstly she's the biggest rival for Senjougahara, who is my favorite Monogatari girl. Secondly I just find her design super boring and uninteresting, in a series full of designs that I really dig that just stands out. Thirdly her arcs just didn't really captivate me unlike a lot of the others. |
| I probably regret this post by now. |

| I stan a lot of villains in shounen anime. Sometimes i try to justify with their backstory like i did with Shigaraki from BNHA but i know that i just like them because i think they're ""cool"". Tbh i only noticed it was irrational because recently i started liking Muzan from Kimetsu no Yaiba and when i told this to my friend she said that's totally weird liking him since he's the reason of the death and suffering of a lot of people but never did a single good thing and i just couldn't argue back because she was right. |

| Gyanko (Sazaki Kaoruko) from Gundam Builf Fighters try is the only one I don't get myself. Maybe may have a stupid reason but for her I just saw her face and I found myself liking her. She's not that cute, I don't really like her personality either nor is she my type phisically. Fact is, I like her and the more I think about it the less sense it makes... |

I'm pretty sure this is a very unpopular opinion, but I love Eren from Attack on Titan because of all his anger and hatred and basically everything before his current character development. I get that people made fun of him for being a 2-dimensional character of sorts, with nothing but his anger making him childish and whatever; but I don't see it like that. Attack on Titan was pretty much my first actual anime, and the level of violence and rage and gory action took me by surprise. But that's the reason I fell in love with the series so much - the heart-pounding battles, the extremely tense emotional roller-coasters, the anxiety-inducing titan fights. The 1st season felt to me to be centered around the struggle of humanity and their rage against the Titans and so Eren was sort of the embodiment of those themes. Then the later seasons went from Action to Mystery/Thriller to political intrigue and then to whatever the newest season can be summed up as. And Eren got more mature and more level-headed throughout the series and now he almost seems emotionally distant to the point of being cold or depressed, which is the opposite of how he used to be. It's irrational but I wish he was more like his old self, even if it doesn't make sense in the context of the current plot or with the other characters |

| I really like Yue from Cardcaptor Sakura, it was my first anime and I love him ever since but if you ask me why, I can't give any specific reasons for liking him, he doesn't even have much screen time. On the other hand I dislike Mika from Owari no Seraph, I have absolutely no reason for disliking him but I just do most probably due to his character design and fans. |

| Funny cause I like Hanekawa in monogatari over all of the girls. I like her backstory and Black Hanekawa is super hot, we should add her sepparately on mal. Oikura comes in second. (I'm a sucker for tragic stories). I think it is kinda irational from my bahalf to like a maniacal killer like the main antagonist from danganronpa simply because I hate killers and nut jobs. What can I say, they captured me, and they didn't even have a reason for the killings and destruction, it was all in the name of despair. |

| I wouldn't call it exactly irrational, but I hate every single archetype index is throwing at me. the archetypes, not the characters. In any other show these characters would be bland or obnoxious, but here, they're on the different end of the spectrum. misaka: the token tsundere, but instead of beating the guy she goes full dere. accelerator: your run of the mill edgy villain, but he's only pretending so people would leave him alone. touma: the moral preaching dense protag. except he's just trying to live up to his past self, and he's just into busty women with no luck finding any. |

Thank god nobody cares about Haruhi these days but Bakugou's fanbase is just as irritating as the character. I wouldn't mind them as much if they acknowledged how unlikeable he is and didn't defend him every time someone said something bad about him. Unless he becomes a respectable and decent character who isn't so far up his own ass and learns to manage his anger, I will continue to hate him. |

| Lelouch's entire schtick is being an emotional wreck at times and ruining his entire logic for no apparent reason. Yeah and let's not forget how they've dumbed everyone down in order to make him the "genius" that he is. Oh... just read the title correctly. I don't have irrational hate for anything or anyone. | On one hand, I just find myself loving Mikan Yuuki from To Love-ru, and I don't even know why I love her so much. I just can't explain why, I love her and that's it. Is it because of Kana Hanazawa? Is it because of being mature and rational despite being a loli? I don't even know. On the other hand, I completely despise Akame from Akame ga Kill for some unknown reasons. She's badass, has cool powers and design, but I hate her with a passion. I'm just not able to come up with any reason for that. |

So, I ask, Whether it's liking or disliking a character, do you guys have any characters that you have an irrational opinion about? Great thread OP! :3 I believe this is a case in which everyone probably have experienced at least once. For me, maybe: Makise Kurisu I have a rough idea why I don't like her, actually. But it's a silly reason, really. I liked her at first. She is the main reason I picked up the series in the first place after all. She is smart, kind, has sweet voice, has attractive design, is a main character with crucial role to the story, is the protagonist's love interest. She totally seems like a perfect character, right? I'm very aware of this. Yet, why in the world did I came to hate her in the end...? I often asked myself too, tbh. Often came out with no answer except the shallow reason being that she can be quite a tsundere at times, though not the violent one which is good. Yet, still, I actually hated her enough to actually dropped the show. Wow. This probably has to do with the fact that I wanted Okarin to be with Mayushii. I don't like this reason but I also can't help myself. Her apparent lack of flaw also one of the reason I just can't connect with her and therefore make me dislike her even more?? Yuuki Asuna When I first watched SAO, I prayed to whoever up there to make the female mc be likeable. Because I'm very interested with the setting of the show and don't want it to be ruined by an annoying characters. When she appeared, she was alright. But as the story progressed, Idk, for the life of me, I came to dislike her more and more. Not to mention the story itself went downhill. But, really. Asuna doesn't have any annoying traits as far as I remembered (only the fact that she was once a damsel in distress, which is not that much of a big deal IF done right). Yet, I still hated her with a passion. I really have no idea as to why. I guess that's all? |

| That dead ghost girl from AnoHana. She didn't have any character and was only there to be dead and create drama. That would be a reasonable answer, but overall she was just annoying. | I liked the entire main cast from Black Lagoon. Right from episode 1 they were acting and talking like wanna be cool tough guys in a very forced manner. Still I somehow liked them for it. Maybe its because they stand in stark contrast to Rock who is portrayed as the average japanese anime guy. For hate, I hated the Kaori girl in Your Lie in April. Sure there was the annoying part about her hitting the MC all the time but I somehow never liked her even without that problem. The animation was top notch so she should be a sweet pretty girl to my eyes but somehow I didnt like her and I cant say the reason. |
