That was heartwarming beyond expectation. For all of the time Takahashi has looked out for them, this time it was their turn to offer advice and support him. I just like how Hikari is always high energy, shouting out to the sea like that. It actually left a bigger impression than if she got teary eyed or mushy. Also a nicely added touch with how the other students were motivated to get involved as well.

I was kinda waiting for somebody to tackle that subject.
But it seems to be working out in the end for everybody.

The vice-principal did spurred the other students and Takahashi to introspect 'reliance' among peers or teachers. Relying on not just single person but everyone around you. Without this 'advice', the Satakke group discussion wouldn't have happened and ultimately no introspection about Demi's themselves. He sort of opened the topic of how comfortable demis are w/o Sensei around, hence the whole group interactions was spurred by VP, a good plot device to deepen the characters and bonds between them.

No forced drama. That's nice. :)

It's not like the vice director was completely wrong at first, even if he sounded harsh or strict. It's not good for the demi girls to depend on Takahashi-sensei only because they're spoiled and it's also bad for the other students if their teacher has no time for them.

However, it's important to notice the fact that Takahashi-sensei was the only one who actually cared about the demi girls since episode 1. There wasn't a single teacher (save Takahashi and Satou, who is a demi herself) who cared about the demi girls or noticed their special needs, like Machi needing a backpack instead of a purse, for example.

It's nice to see how the boys and the former bully girls got some great situational awareness. Their thoughts were spot on. I liked how all of them are getting closer to the demi girls and try to learn from them and become friends.

The video that the girls sent to Takahashi was so formal it looked a bit silly and cute. I liked it. Hikari meeting him on the beach was nice. She looks like a silly genki girl, but she really cares about her teacher, family and friends. :D

Great episode all in all, probably the best one so far.

(Looks like the last episode will be a typical summer episode. Even if there was little fanservice in this anime and I don't expect too much fanservice for the last episode, I can't wait for it!)

This is the best written, directed, and animated episode of this series, and one of my favorite episodes from this season as a whole. I was terrified that the vice principal would be portrayed as a boring and unnecessary villain, but instead he ends up being a very smart and understanding person that helps to trigger the small moments of character development throughout the episode. There was a lot of awesome directing and editing moments throughout, like when Takahashi was reflecting on what the vice principal said and he was surrounded by mirrors with the Demi's and others. It visually conveys the separation and isolation he feels from the Demi's at that moment, while also creating a reflective tone because of the mirrors. This episode also had some incredible character animation, with lots of subtle movements conveying the characters thoughts and feelings throughout. And I must say that I adore the facial expressions of this show, and they make the already super memorable character designs even more endearing and lovable. I'll be sad to see this one go next week.
This is exactly what I thought! I thought that the VP would just be an annoyance to deal with but he was reasonable.

This episode is very deep in terms of tackling discrimination. Whenever discrimination is brought up, there's always a "bad guy" involved who has a very outdated and narrow viewpoint. In this, I really enjoyed the back and forth of the vice principal's way of thinking and Tetsuo's. There were no actual villians either (though we're inclined to side with Tetsuo due to us experiencing his interactions and relationship with the girls). It's just an episode filled with people and their differing opinions on what's best for the growth of their students that eventually get's resolved in a very calm and mature way.
They don't really try to paint the debate as black and white. The vice principal wasn't wrong in what he said, nor was Tetsuo's actions throughout the series. The results in who "wins" is dependent on the student's ability to take matters into their own hands because that's what matters in the end. The VP in any anime is always a conniving and selfish character, but this VP's demeanor and belief really matches with his status. Every interactions that we see and don't see leading up to this wonderful episode just bumped my ratings from a 7 to an easy 9 (possibly a 10 depending on how they wrap this series up).
This is one of those rare anime that attempts to create a moment of conflict/reflection without putting the blame on one particular character.

In short, I LOVE this episode! It's thought-provoking and satisfying.

that yelling on the beach though.

my conclusion to this "topic" is that education system is a farce and a blasphemy. you may think that really goes WAAAAY out of the left field but I'll explain.

people are unique, and that no two people are of the same personality. this holds true for everyone involved in this episode, even the vice principal. but what the vice principal said is basically that all humans should be treated "equally". meaning he's killing the uniqueness of a person and, I'm sorry to say this, ultimately produce what you would call a sheeple. what is a sheeple, well its a sheep that can be easily controlled and not a wild beast that you couldn't tame, except that its a person and not a sheep.

this is the ultimate goal of even most right wingers. even Jordan Peterson. his (read: end game) from all his lectures is that you grow up as a respectable person that can contribute to the society (aka normie). and that this will be applied to all students involved. ultimately killing the uniqueness of a person.

if this isn't enough to convince you, I have more examples. all students wears the same uniform, implying that all students are the same. again that kills uniqueness. how about tests? they are performed the same. while some people can easily beat the test, some people just don't. to put this in analogy, think of different animals grouped together in a "school" and the test for all animals is to climb a tree. the monkey can do it, the cat can, but how about the dog, elephant, fish etc etc? wouldn't this mean that all animals except cats and monkeys should be considered "valuable" while everything else is expendable? who makes that judgment and who died and gave him such power and authority?
>I had no brain when I was 12
>Then everyone must had no brain when they were 12
>I experimented 100 samples and proved that they had no brain when they were 12
>Therefore children cannot consent

This is what science has done to humanity.

Man, I really wanted to tell the vice principal to choke on my dick until he apologized at the end. His whole thing about Mr. Takahashi supposed caring too much about them was stupid as hell.

"Remember the non-demi students need you as well." Fuck them. They can figure life out on their own. It's not "Interviews With Boring High School Students".
"No, son, you may not have your body pillow at the dinner table!"

An interesting episode..
Point of taking both their human and demi halves were well explained by sensei when conversing with vampire chan's sister some epi back and the normal students got the wind of it now.
The VP and Sensei/Demi girls both hold credence here.
Sensei's vigor in showing the light to the demi sets an example for others to follow the same footsteps rather than tread the wrong path and do damage..
Yet an overreliance of it as stated by VP would be very bad for their personalities to mature in future when Sensei's isnt around and would seldom have any motivation to move out of their comfort zones.

Glad what this episode brought to the table. I noticed how some are so quick to judge characters at face value, the "bullies" as irredeemable menaces and the vice-principle as an antagonistic authoritarian.
Great to see all those preconceived notions proven utterly wrong and uncalled for.

Beautiful episode, I love how Hikari just said others have to try as hard or even harder.
Vice principal definitely has a point but he also was quick to judge the relationship they had.
Sure all we see is his relationship with the four Demi's but those interactions affect how others will interact with the Demi's too (as we can see from the ending)

Well directed episode and some great dialogue by the girls.
