Must be a hellish experience for a girl to be treated like that... more so for an experiment-loving loli girl who can be unhygienic at times because of workload and stuffs. Yikes!

Worst case scenario
If I were a girl, I will do more than just a slap in the face. Even Daru was hit. LOLZ

EDIT: Oh, my 400th post/comment. Gotta archive this one. :p

wtf dude, Maho is pure

can someone TLDR the difference between this episode and the VN?

It's anime original.
The only similar to the VN stuff is the ending where they delete Amadeus, but in the VN that was in a separate ending and quite different, Okabe wasn't even present during that time and the D-Rine wasn't send from there either. There's this weird moment when Amadeus starts remembering other world lines like Reading Steiner, and also remembers Kyouma and tells Maho to not give up and encourage Okabe. Quite bullshit forced drama if you ask me.

Such a slow and boring episode. Do they realize that there's only 1 episode left? And all this just so Mayuri can go back in time and slap Okabe. FFS
It looks pretty clear at this point that they're scrapping the entire D-mail thing and this Okabe will just wait 10 years and send the video to his S1 self. There's nothing they can do anymore except cram all this into 1 last rushed episode.

Huge disappointment and I actually liked the 0 VN more than the original. This is just a bad adaptation.

At least the anime managed to patched up the plot holes in VN.
Lets not judge it before not seeing episode 23.They might pull something off

After the last decent episode, this episode was disappointing to me and its just too much mirrored version of the OG (episode 22) drama except here they had to deal with deleting AI programme that didn't feel any slightest emotional impact to me, meh.

At this pace, I can't believe next episode is the finale and I already feel that will be rushed (unless the duration extended) or perhaps we are going to see 'true ending' on the OVA episode?

I though exactly the same, that was totally unnecessary and dumb, maybe I remember wrong but in the VN Okabe was already resolved to delete amadeus and reach the S;G, the one who opposes was maho, without all that unnecesary drama.

The anime managed to make some of us cry despite an A.I being deleted.
This episode for me is good and lets wait for ep 23 before judging it

Such an obvious attempt to make us tear up, meh.
One episode left and they still never showed how the time machine was built or did I miss it? I can't tell anymore what was the purpose of this season at all.

"We don't know if the time machine's destruction is convergence or not"

*A few minutes later, without any new information given*
"So the time machine's destruction isn't necessarily convergence?"

That's some top notch writing there.

And yeah, we don't know what happened after the time machine exploded last episode, so we could say there might be a plot hole there (a girl wearing a motorcycle suit didn't die).

And man, the directing is so jerky in this episode. I just couldn't get emotional with it. It's so distracting.

Not really. On the first, Okabe meant as if he really didn't knew, on the second, Okabe implied it as if he had reached a conclusion without really getting any new information. You could say he stopped and thought about it, that sounds lazy.
They might seem equivalent in the translation, but in Japanese Amadeus doesn't say "necessarily." She says something along the lines of "Are you saying the time machine's destruction isn't a inevitable convergence?"

Anyway, it's just a nitpick.

okabe is trying to keep his Mad scientist personality so hard
the pain and suffering is obvious even when he is acting

it remind me of the original series when Mayuri noticed that he is not acting all weird and mad , and he immediately started to acting mad again just for her to protect ...

I know it should be emotional moment, but didnt really feel that. Even though Steins;Gate and even many Steins;Gate 0 episodes made me tear, this particular episode didn´t really push the buttons. Still like it though

Same, that's because the drama felt forced, at this moment the anime should be at its climax but it was a slow episode with some forced drama, didn't really liked this episode that much.

I basically have to repeat what others have said already in this thread. Disappointing episode. I'm over the whole
"Amadeus is like Kurisu" motif. The characters should have understood long ago that Amadeus is not a real person. We especially didn't need an entire episode dedicated to her "death". There's one episode of the series left for god's sake. Its going to be interesting to see how they manage to wrap all this up. (Dub watcher)

Also Daru new invention Ex Machina. Seriously?

I disagree with you, this episode have a further purpose, I think it's a very emotional episode. It is not deus ex machina, the characters used RINE to chat in the entire series.

I can see how they were trying to write an emotional episode by creating allusions to the original series in addition to blurring the lines between AI Kurisu and real Kurisu, but I thought it was lazy. As xZabuzax said earlier, they pretty much copy and pasted the Kurisu farewell from the original series into this episode. What they were doing was obvious, in effect making it feel cheap to me.
In my opinion, I think it would have been fine if it was done 2 or 3 episodes earlier to setup a final arc. They dragged it on long enough.

Also with the Daru thing, I do think it was very convenient but I can get over it.

Hououin Kyoma loses it and then come back again! I liked when Okabe hoisted Maho with a poker face. Good episode not like the others but it gave a conclusion to Amadeus in the VN it felt like it was done in a second. Now only Okabe will remember Amadeus. It would be interesting if she can somehow keep the memories of the machine as deja vu ~~ 1.123581

Oh wow I didn't realize 3 factions: Durpa, Stratfor, and Foreign Intel

So the time machine isn't necessarily a converging point!

Okabe carrying Maho was cute and hilarious!

Nice Daru for developing the D-Rine!

Goodbye Amadeus, an advanced AI system, but also a friend...

This episode felt like a setup for the next episode, the final one... I wonder how they'll wrap it all up...

Sad seeing the scenes leading up to [Kurisu] being destroyed :(
D-Rine does the trick though, now let's hope this was enough to throw off the convergence point and make it so the the time machine isn't destroyed!

Kurisu = logical thinking
Okabe = illogical thinking

Don't tell me Okabe kissed the screen, lol. And ironically Maho cried when she's the one who told Okabe not to get deluded.

And no Okabe, you're not the one who killed Kurisu.

Am I the only one who finds it a bit silly that everyone dramatises so much over Amadeus' death? She's an AI and her "death" is probably fuelling the survival of the real Makise Kuriu, for crying out loud.

It is not more deus ex machina than the Suzuha appearing from the future at the end of the original though.

Tbh. i don't consider neither of them as deus ex machina. D-Rine had its predecessor (D-Mail), and it is only one step to create the D-Rine if you have D-Mail technology.

To be fair, I don't consider Suzuha appearing from the future at the end of the OG Steins;Gate a Deux Ex Machina because this was already hinted in the 1st episode, Suzuha was already there, they were simply in a "loop" so to speak and even if it was considered a Deux Ex Machina it was still pretty good, that's a Deux Ex Machina done right.

What happened here came out of nowhere and it was never hinted either, I consider this one a Deux Ex Machina (a bad one btw).

It doesn't came out of nowhere. It is basically the same as D-Mail, it just uses the Rine application, which they used in 0.

Did he just...kiss the phone? Granted off screen, but....what??? lol

I find it fitting that we're back to the same station/staircase where Okabe and Kurisu shared their moments when not in the lab. The scene reminded me so much from Steins;Gate. No matter what world line, Kurisu will always be with him.

"But the world I see before me now you could say is chaotic. Useless things are kept around and actions utterly wasteful happen on a daily basis. You can know the right choice to make, and yet choose wrong. But that brings forth chance, ensuring meaning for the irrelevant. It's all jumbled together, allowing miraculous things to occur."

This dialogue and this whole scene was just beautiful.

A nice build-up ep for the last one. It was amazing to see Okabe act as Kyouma again. ''Assistant one and two, loli girl...'' it always makes me laugh.
Well, thanks to Daru they can use a different methode to send things to the past.
The only solution is to destroy everything about Amadeus. But yeah, it's not that easy for Maho and Okabe. But they're strong people. Amadeus' last words were heartbreaking.

ONE MORE EPISODE TO GO!
