Women are typically not as funny as guys. I'm not sure why, but being funny doesn't seem to be an important quality for a woman to have. Besides Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kathy Griffin, Ellen DeGeneres and the women I know personally I can't think of any woman that made me laugh

Don't think genetics come into it, although I may be wrong and we might all be unable to find any women funny.

Maybe it's because of the same reason you don't want to be outwitted by a cashier or watch an eagle try to swim.
( If eagles can secretly swim or something you can ignore the second one)

No offence intended. At all.

I find women quite funny and witty sometimes. My girlfriend makes me laugh quite a bit.

But put a woman on stage as a comedian and its just meh. I find many male comedians funny, but I can never say the same for female comedians.

Women are funny. I know a lot of women who are funny. But it's hard to find the female comedians funny when you compare them to the men. Male comedians seem to be a lot more outspoken.

There are funny women but usually the most funny are men and funny women are rarer too, from my subjective experience. I dont know why it is, it just is. Even here, the people that made me laugh where mostly men. Maybe its because women tend to take things more serious? Or they are more "refined" and therefore never go crazy on the interwebz?

RL is a mixed bag honestly, I havent got too many women in my life (engineering school).

I would suggest that your inability to find women funny is connected to
a) you need to watch a better calibre of female comedians. There are plenty of hilarious women out there. The number of women in the industry is actually a separate issue which relates more to career/lifestyle factors than women are not funny. However the gap is shrinking.
or
b) you are unable to relate to women and should probably broaden your female acquaintanceship.

You know there are two kinds of jokes, "guy jokes" and "girls joke". Girls who understand and enjoy both of them are usually funnier, and you can figure it out by seeing how many guy and girl friends they have.

Those are so true. Women are funny as well. But their human nature is kinda lacking in stand-up and random comedy. Nothing else. Just let them open up and you will see how funny they are

You pretty much summed up the problem, at least when it comes to stand up comedy. Too many of them (at least among the ones I know of) tend to limit themselves in terms of subjects they adress in their sketches.

Even the video posted earlier by Reciprocal to prove women can make you laugh (even though it was pretty funny) was somehow related to gender roles : women believed to all have cute laughs, when in fact they don't.

Damn I love how people simply ask for a ban for everything they disagree on. I should become dictator, people will love me as long as I ban every being from the country that they dislike, until there is no one left.

I think its true that women arent as funny, but I dont think its a biological reason but more one of upbringing. Its like they are bound to either be more refined and then they are limited, or if they arent then they take it too far and almost make the jokes for the sake of being disgusting than to make the audience laugh.

That said most stand up comedians are shit tough, and since there are more male comedians chances are higher that there is atleast one or two among them that are funny. With a smaller pool of female comedians chances are way lower there is a good one amongst them.

But even outside Stand up, in movies for example its always been males that made the best comedy, Laurel and Hardy, Mr. Bean, Charlie Chaplin, Jackie Chan and even others its basically alwas a mal except for a few exceptions.

Did you take into consideration the fact that most movies are done by males in general?
It's exactly like what you said above, statistics : way more males involved in the industry, way more chances of finding a few gems among the pile of shaite.

Add to that the problems already pointed by other users regarding the female stand up comedy scene or the influence of gender roles in general, and here we are.

That's understandable, you missed the point, any one can be "hilarious", but statistics shows that average comedians of females is less appealing than average male comedians.

And even your post shows what the statistics say, "...and one of them".

And most of them fail miserably. I have never witnessed good stand up comedy done by a woman. For some reason I enjoy the stereotypical jokes coming from a man's mouth but when a woman tries to do the same ... or anything political, environmental etc. It sounds way too forced and it might be just because women still think they need to do more to level up to the men's abilities. Idk. But as a woman I find most stand up comediennes very unfunny. I know many women who are funny (of course including myself, I'm hilarious), but there is something that happens on stage that kills all that funny.

Humour is really subjective.

I am in possession of a vag and I've had people of both genders in absolute stitches before, but then other people will look at me like I've grown a second head when I talk. All of this is without making any actual effort to be funny (or indeed to look like I've grown a second head) but rather just being generally deadpan af; that's my sense of humour, and for people who're into the whole dark humour/deadpan delivery thing it seems to work out well enough.

That said, I find most stand-up comedians fucking cringey. I'm not a fan of humour that's trying to be funny, I prefer funny shit that just happens naturally, so the whole thing of standup doesn't really work for me until you get to a more improvised bit with unpredictable elements like audience participation where everything becomes a little more off-the-cuff.

Moral of the story? Standup sucks, humour is subjective, gender is irrelevant.

The problem with female comedians is that they ultimately fail to realize the spark of comedy. It's funny precisely because there'a a grain of truth buried beneath all of the tongue & cheek. That's why movies such as "Rough Night" fall flat in the face of "The Hangover." It's simply forced and there's no real authenticity to be found.

All is not lost though. There's plenty of riot worthy women out there. From my experience, the funniest ones just naturally play into their own quirks.

On a side note, I actually tend to find anime girls funnier than anime guys on average. So apparently Japan is at least doing something right.

modern women who actually try to act funny all like to post some romantic tumblr comic shit (or it's just sjw propaganda) that's supposed to be "quirky" and "relatable" and "awkward" but in actuality no one could relate and every single mentally sane person reading the comic wants to take a fucking 8 gauge to the mouth
