The theme of the show works well with the 'Horror' tag. I'm optimistic about the quality of the plot and characters.

On the other hand, the animation isn't so good even though it's adequate.

Brutal...not bad. This one won't ever see the light of the positive score; but will probably be the guilty pleasure of the season. Still it's funny that Tencent produced King's Avatar, which is about pro gamers spending their lives in front of pcs; then this one that is basically a boot camp of internet junkies xD

This anime has something that hook you in, but its definetely not that good either, I was thinking of droping it withing the first minutes, but after the appeareance of Shin everything got more interesting now. I guess I'll give it some episodes before I decided to follow or not

A great story idea and OST! Reminds me of my favorite series, Btooom! and probably has an air of Kakegurui. Animation interesting, but spoiled using real images at first, although that was to show the idea of reality. It's no use in all this mystery, only with this episode I predicted everything that will happen. I hated this.

hmm at the beginning when the anime showed its style felt like when it was weakest. after, when i loosened up, it felt better. the fact that the people were sent there by their parents kills the feel, but maybe that's because we don't know enough yet.

still, i think ousama game had a better first episode since it wasn't trying to take itself too seriously

Can someone explain me how the generic piece of shit harem-shounen with the chill but unintentional/intentional MC in pervert situations or the MC who is a crap but gets powerful/ or its OP as fuck always get a score above 7 and this show that is at least, very original has a round 6 ?

This show deserves some future complete reviews to show isn't that bad. Its a solid 7-8 and way better than some generic shit which is already airing.

YES, i know isn't a master piece, but is at least better than the 95% of the rest of animes that are rated a 6.

It kind of reminds me of Btooom, especially with the way Hibiki was sent There.

Haoliner's animation is getting better, so I was pleasantly surprised by how it looked.

Nah, Centaur no Nayami is probably their best work quality-wise (animation). The anime in this one was really low-tier, same as their other works Gin no Guardian and Hitori no Shita

Haoliners works smart in #evilorlive when they choose 2.35:1 ratio and mix a lot of real world footage to save the cost of the animation. Emon production (of #bloodivores) should take note from this.

Firstly, I have to thank you for providing the link, without resorting to name-calling, or anything of the sort.
Secondly...wow. I thought this anime was exagerrating, being edgy, but Evil or Live's representation of these boot-leg camps seems...damn accurate.

I mean, Chibi wasn't exactly wrong here. The episode had a horrible execution to an otherwise interesting concept. I'm not gonna follow a story if it's presented in a shitty way...

Chibi's only mistake was thinking this show is deliberately mocking anime watchers and the such, everything else was different.

Internet Addiction hunh... I PROBABLY HAVE THAT. Nah, seriously though, if people get THAT addicted to video games and start actin like that, they need to get some help. Can't say I enjoyed this though, it feels like an educational video trying to teach people that too much games and internet is extremely dangerous and will corrupt children if they engage in the activities for more than an hour a day. But in DARK AND GRITTY anime form.

I went in with no expectations, and I plan to lower them more for the next episode, and I guess I'll see where it goes from there.

Quite interesting, could be much better without stupid jokes. Seeing some addicted young retards either with their mobiles or with their tablets make me thinks that this is not a bad idea(of course not that harsh).

I liked the beginning with real photography shots, was quite abrasive and dense.

Huh? How so? Our Mc was showns as a real addict, not going to eat dinner because he is busy, acting agresssively to any kind of interruption, even his own mother. He even thought he is transported to video game world.

Great question. One reason is the origin of the manga. I am pretty sure, cause Japan Master Race. Second one is that some people are offended by the topic.

It's so bad in every way. From animation until stupid characters. Story seems fresh but for now I received 20 mins of crying protagonist and evil instructors. Sorry I said fresh? Maybe on idea. But that's all for now. I will give a chance for next two episodes. I hope it will be only better. Very bag start.

In my opinion, the first episode was just a mess. There wasn’t much structure and much personality showed through each character. I’d say Shin would be the only one with actual interesting personality, but then again, it’s just the classic “mysterious, mastermind” personality. If the anime would actually give us inform us of his intentions instead of vague mentioning between other characters, I think Shin would be a very interesting character to have. It’s still the first episode though so I guess we can’t have all the answers.

However, this leads to the wonder of why Shin is not the MC. Our current MC is the stereotypical bubbly pervert with no depth in his character at all. Oh geez, I wonder how original that is to have in a MC. It makes me wonder why I should care about the MC or his situation. We briefly see him in a backstory, but even then, I don’t feel an attachment to him simply because so far, I haven’t seen a need to relate to him.

Another thing that bothered me is the fact that this anime doesn’t seem to know itself what kind of genre it belongs in. It wants to be a horror/thriller and yet it throws these unnatural, unfitting comedy scenes that are far from being deeming comedy in the first place. For example, the gender scene with Shin and Hibiki. It felt unnatural to randomly throw in a “Wow, I thought you were a girl xD why no boobz?” joke in the middle of a suicide scene. Not only that, but this anime feels far off from horror or thriller. There’s nothing in this first episode that scares me and holds me at the edge of my seat; if anything this is just another bland shounen anime with wasted potential.

This part is highly my own opinion, but the flashing text on the screen throughout the entire episode honestly felt weak to me. Usually, if it were done in one scene, it’s effective to represent conflict and I enjoy that sort of feeling. However, this was done throughout the entire episode and it got pretty bland. It felt like I was doing more flashing text reading than actually watching the animation. If you keep needing to rely on flashing text to continue your plot, then the way you’re telling your plot isn’t effective. I shouldn’t really need to keep reading text to feel that Hibiki’s conflicting with himself — I should be able to tell from his expressions and actions, and anime is supposed to be about expressing conflict through action. On the other hand, if it were a manga or a comic, written text is completely fine since there isn’t movement.

Overall, I would say this first episode is 2.5/5. Its overall plot has a lot of potential but its execution through its characters and storytelling is terrible. I’d give it until three episodes to see whether or not the characters advance or the storytelling improves, but if not, I’m definitely dropping or watching for shits and giggles.

Might just be the timing of me watching this really, recently saw a video talking about a movie where some teen guy gets addicted to porn, and it leads to him become a social outcast and nearly committing suicide. It was stupid, over the top, and kind of funny because of how bad it was. Now I'm here, and seeing the characters somehow believing that they ended up in a parallel world and such, combined with them being taken to some correctional facility where they are beaten and stuff just kind of feels farfetched to me.

At least that's my opinion, and as I have lived a pretty sheltered life in the country, I can't say my knowledge of the outside world is that good, so I don't know how something like this would be handled at all.

Nice rare to get a social commentary show, pseudo based on current events. Lots of Confucian & cultural doctrines there.
It's trying a lot of styles tho not always mesh, pacing's much better than previous chinese cartoons.
Tera MMO spotted.
Some dialogue like on the rooftop were actually interesting. Seems most CC's have the wimpy mc swoon over girls. He's a trash neet so fitting personality, tho could get annoying.

The animation is pretty damn bad, but it's nothing compared to the protagonist. Search up wimpy and pathetic in the dictionary and he is what appears. From his gestures, design, what he says, and his fucking voice tho. His voice sounds so fucking wimp.

Also what's with that random "comedic" shit? That was out of nowhere and so lame. How did he even get away with 2 of the instructors walking behind him?

I know I am repeating myself here but how irritating and pathetic is that protagonist? From the "I have been transporting to a game world" to that chuckling because of him thinking about getting laid with his middle school classmate, it is the most cringe shit I ever seen in anime. Reminds me of Makoto from School Days except this protag is even more pathetic and gets no pussy.

I think it'll be a pretty rewarding anime full of twists, turns, backstabbing and philosophical discussion, just to make a few positives. I don't get why people don't like more serious plots in anime. Anime reviewers are the most toxic reviewers online, it's sad that they constantly shit all over everything that they disagree with. The inconsistency in reviewing anime is mind boggling.

This anime, as a lot of people have recognized, is bad in animation, story, protagonist, etc...

This "school" is more of an internment camp than a boot camp, which is what made this the most uncomfortable for me.
Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
