| I can say that the whole phenomenon known as "Aidorus" that spread through the Anime community like wildfire a few years ago has settled down a bit (well that's until Love Live! Sunshine!! S2, then we'll witness people crying over ships and stuff once again *SIGH*) Yet I'm curious to see if that phenomenon known as Idol Anime has affected you just as it did for me (as you can see, Aikatsu! is not only my fave Idol Anime but my fave Anime in general) despite it being quite obvious that idol series don't have the best of writers (since holy s**t, I've been watching idol Anime long enough that I'm actually getting tired of the forced drama and reused tropes *cough cough* Love Live! is a big offender of this *cough cough*) yet they do contain some of the most unique characters in Anime, so here's my questions... | My favorite Idol anime is Uta no Prince Sama, with my favorite idol being Otoya Ittoki. He has one of my favorite songs, Brand New melody. Masato in the series made a song 'Knocking on the mind' that I also really enjoy. With that in mind, I prefer Idol boys, but idol girls are sometimes good too, I enjoyed Love Live. In reference to Idol anime in general, I really love it. They usually make me feel really happy, even if I know it's not the most well made anime out there. |

| First Idolmaster can't be beat, it was perfect the first 2 seasons of Love Live are in a very close second. My favorite idols Idolmaster: Iori, Kozue, Emily, Konomi, Matsuri, Nina, Yoshino, Aiko, Mary, and Sae Aikatsu: Lily, Mahiru, and Kirara Pripara: Yui, Mikan, and Pepper Love Live: Umi, Yoshiko, Riko, and Mari Show by Rock: Every single member of Criticrista including Rosia. Idol anime is great and is better than it's real life equivalent, just nothing like Idol Memories please, idol anime is not supposed to make you punch your TV screen/monitor even WUG which is social commentary on the real industry is nowhere near this bad also no forced depression and dark stories like in CG S2. |

Idol girls but not because of waifu bait. Just can't resonate with idol guys. Idol anime is something I'm hit or miss with. I absolutely love Aikatsu and what it represents as an idol show but I hate the damn shallow tropey sensations I see all the time in things like Love Live (Sunshine especially is a huge offender). I've made the dedication to watch every idol anime at this point, so I guess I like the genre. |

| I might as well answer my own questions to give you a gist of my fave things about Idol Anime which eventually made me into the "Idol Grandpa" lol (you all probably already know, but eh) What's your favorite Idol Anime? Aikatsu! it's stayed close to my heart ever since I watched it back in 2012. I always looked forward to every episode, I don't know, it's one of the few idol Anime next to im@s that actually focuses on what it means to be an idol and what idols do while taking place in a school setting (THEY'RE NOT SCHOOL IDOLS BTW) despite being quite long in length (178 episodes, and a few movies) I was heartbroken when it ended in April 2016, yet even if it had the ending I ever wanted, I wanted it to go on... since seeing a series that spawned some of my most fave characters in Anime and some songs that I constantly listen to I... *sigh* Well, we all know all good things must always come to an end Who's your favorite Anime Idol? Minami Kotori, despite me viewing Love Live! as an Idol Hipster (lmao) I honestly loved Kotori ever since I discovered LL! back in 2010, Kotori was just... such an angle, she was so cute and her voice was so sweet I just... man, you must have known how heartbroken I was when μ's disbanded in 2016. I will never forget how much Kotori impacted me as an idol and as a character. Do you have any specific songs that you liked that spawned from any idol series? | My favorite idol anime is probably idolmaster and my favorite idol from that is Makoto followed by Maki and Chihaya. Don't really care about the songs too much, don't really care about boy idols and in general I can enjoy a good idol anime once in a while but it's not a high priority genre for me. Idolmaster had some really good drama and Love Live was really funny at times so qualities like that always make it easier to enjoy any anime. |

Buuuut if you are looking something I like from an İdol show here: Yeah, Love Live is really Illuminati if you think about it LOL, but I guess you're right, most idol series do tend to use characters under 18 (im@s has used idols over the age of 18) but most idols are young because of industry standards, don't want to dwell too much into that aspect since uh... yeah, I like separating Anime Idols from real Idols (also fam, don't put actual good idol shows like im@s in that standard, it wasn't filled with fan service of under-aged girls like most modern Anime, it had a legit plot and good character development, if you're looking for idol shows with ZERO fan service, just watch Aikatsu! it was meant for kids anyways despite having a plot that even older viewers can enjoy) |

| Well, if I were to say which idol anime I actually really liked, it'd be akb0048, and it's not the idol aspect that I found to be most intriguing. I generally find idol anime to be at its best when it aint taking itself too seriously (Again, akb0048 has actual high stakes which is why the idol part isn't what sold me into it, it's why they were doing the idol stuff to begin with. A lot of people in the same slice of life fandoms I am in on tumblr would post Idolm@ster and Love Live! ships, so I decided to give Love Live! a chance. Within short order I watched both seasons of Love Live!, watched the original Idolm@ster, and then Wake Up Girls. I then picked up the LLSIF game, and saw the Love Live! movie premiere in Los Angeles. Saw Aqours premier at AX16, then their FirstLive satellite streaming in Los Angeles, and then just saw Cinderella Girls, Wake Up Girls, Walküre, and Aqours at Anisong AX17. I'd like to check out Aikatsu!, Macross Delta, and some others too. Because I was already buying a lot of anime OP and ED (e.g. Kalafina, ALI Project, Do as Infinity, etc.), the idol music was immediately appealing. I've bought a lot of Love Live! music and merch at this point. I even became one of the volunteer staff at Sukutomo I recently joked with a friend that I started my anime adventure with Mecha, migrated to SOL, but now I'm idol trash. |

| I like several things, and they include music, friendship, teamwork and bright colours. Idol anime usually can deliver all these things. Plus, they're super easy to digest. The plots are usually not very intense as drama or sci-fi series but about stuff like "Oh this character and this character have a rivalry they must patch up!" What's your favorite Idol Anime? My favourite one based on story and writing alone is Shounen Hollywood however, this is not a series I talk about much as I don't care for the songs or characters that much. My actual favourite for the characters is Tsukiuta the Animation. I'm very attached to the characters and I actually collect merchandise from that series and follow it very closely. The music is also by far, the best in the idol anime realm. Who's your favorite Anime Idol? - Masato Hijirikawa (Uta no Prince-sama) - Shy Makishima (Marginal#4) - Hajime Mutsuki (Tsukiuta) and Shun Shimotsuki (Tsukiuta) Do you have any specific songs that you liked that spawned from any idol series? Several. I'll list my favourites from multiple series. Do you prefer girl idols or boy idols? Boys because I'm straight and I prefer boys, therefore male voices appeal to me the most.
