So, is this finally the final chapter? Hard to tell, any of the last few chapters could've been the final one.

The only good thing is that the public doesn't know about the psycho saving the world. Too bad they don't know about Inuyashiki either.

I really don't like the turn the manga did. Wish it had stayed SOL about the geezer performing small acts of superheroics. 6/10

Well, it's finally over. The first 30 chapters or so were incredible so I won't hate on it too much, but Hiroya just couldn't figure out how to progress the story and it ended up becoming pretty dumb and pointless.I wish we got to see some more of the doge in the final chapter.

Well that was pretty disappointing for an ending. I found this manga pretty interesting until that meteor thing happened, then it went downhill fast.

Terrible las third doomed this. A shame really. He makes great art and has cool premises, but the execution is totally wanting.

That...was a dull ending tbh. I was hoping it would be at least twice the normal length but eh, it is what it is I guess.

I guess the anime be a complete adaptation to this? Really hope they expand on this ending more.

awful, this is the epitome of a bad ending. Even when there were things that i didnt like about this manga (like the unnecessary drama) i just cant believe what i read. An asteroid?? really Oku?? he didnt even go deep about how humanity could change because of 'the end of the word', we barely saw any character development in Hiro or even in the main chara, we really dont know what being machines meant to them or why the fuck they became machines in the first place (yeah i know an alien did but why would they care aaaggh) im so disappointed. Im not even mad yet, im just really really disappointed because Inuyashiki could have been an awesome hero, he was already doing a pretty good job but... oku why... an asteroid... i cant believe this

Trump being a guest character and calling for degeneracy alone makes the manga a worthwhile read. But yeah, the ending was underwhelming, especially considering the last portion of the manga ignored Shishigami's perspective, and he sort of just got there to sacrifice himself. Hard to tell if he had any intention to atone at all considering that. Inuyashiki's sacrifice seemed pointless at that point, but it's as if the author couldn't envision what would happen to the world if one of them would remain alive.

All in all, an awkward but fun ride. Some ideas shone through, like how awful shitposters are, and how the media and public opinion shift with new developments. Also, Hanako best character.

i can't believe this manga has already ended?? it started off well and entertaining but then once the meteor was heading for earth the story just became awful and rushed.

the manga has plot holes and the ending was also so underwhelming...

tbh i shouldn't have expected much from oku since gantz was complete shit

The decline of the manga was proportionate to the amount of paneltime the psycho got. And yes, as soon as the asteroid was first mentioned, the ending became predictable - mostly, anyway. It was clear that the author was planning to "redeem" the psycho by having him sacrifice himself to save the world, but I hadn't expected the geezer to do it too.

i agree. i accepted the fact that hiro would eventually die to "redeem" himself. i wouldn't want him to stick around in the story anyway since he lost both of his arms. but it sucks that inuyashiki had to sacrifice himself too... totally didn't expect it :/ maybe it would've been nice if hiro only died to save earth from that asteroid since he was the 'villain' in the story..

This manga started out great. Sadly, it ended up being average to below-average by the end... The ending was such a disappointment, but whatever... I’m glad it's over though.

I can’t wait for the anime... It will be interesting to see how they will cram 85 chapters of content into a mere 11 episodes series (that should be fun). I might forgive it if they somehow make this better, but I doubt it.

I felt that the only rushed bit was the meteorite arc and how everyone just seemed to forget about Inuyashiki just healing a shit ton of people. Like how? It's the age of the internet, that shit doesn't happen so easily. And people seriously believed that it was the Americans who blew up the meteor? Terrible writing.

Which is a shame, because this manga had many great moments (some weaker points). But this disappointing ending is especially a shame because it made Hiro look like a hero and he clearly wasn't. What was the message that the author intended to tell us? If you kill a shit ton of people, you're still a nice person if you sacrifice yourself for your loved ones? That just seems like a horrible message.

Overall, pretty good manga, but huge let down for an ending.

Damn, Oku really knows how to draw crying faces. Most of them pulled at my heart strings. The ending felt a little rushed but overall I'm happy with it, I like that it was mellow. Not everything needs to be wrapped up with a big bang. Inuyashiki and Shishigami both sacrificed themselves so their loved ones could live and the ending reflected that, life goes on, as they say.

Cautiously optimistic about the upcoming anime.

So that 2nd to last chapter went by waaaay to quick. Did Inuyashiki actually die himself because we were given no confirmation. Yes he was caught slightly outside/within the blast radius but we only see the destruction and sacrifice of hero in detail. The whole purpose what for hiro to sacrifice and Inuyashiki to go home but the self destruct happened rather suddenly. I wish they added even 1 or 2 more panels bc thats annoying as fuck for them to just leave it up to imagination like that. For all we know Inuyashiki is unconscious or highly damaged floating around space somewhere. If he did in fact die then his sacrifice was almost in vain.

The meteor had actually been foreshadowed for a long time. There were multiple background news stories about it and stuff. From the moment it was mentioned, the end of the story became predictable, though I did not expect the geezer to die too.

Well, I wouldn't call the ending bad, actually, I would rather call it a 'generic good ending where hero sacrifices himself for the greater good' type of ending.

I mean the whole theme of the manga was about helping others, so the ending actually really suited it. And Inuyashiki is certainly on the better half of the protagonists I saw. The feelings he expressed felt much more real than our usual whiny, idiotic MC's.
Most other characters were rather terrible or made a complete 180 in their character personality multiple times out of almost nowhere.

The manga itself was certainly rushed and a lot of character development was skipped, so what we got was a decent setting ruined by bad pace.

It was still enjoyable to read through, but it certainly wasn't that great.
Author sure knows how to keep the reader intrigued despite all the downsides.

First 20 chapters were great and the pacing was nice; something interesting/new was always happening. After that we were introduced to the I-Have-No-Motive-But-I-Am-A-Villain-Nonetheless Antagonist which... started to go downhill from here. Then there was this pointless shounen fight that didn't need to happen. Afterwards we have the underwhelming meteor part and it's all over. Uhh okay?

Showing us the aliens and then never mentioning them again was a pretty shit move by the mangaka, we never got to know anything about them and it beginning seems so random in comparison to how it ended. It's almost as if the author wanted to find a reason to make his 2 protagonists have super powers for the shit and giggles.

5/10, had a lot of potential.

I was going to wait the anime to be completed so i could start the manga but since i saw too many complains about the last chapter i ended up reading the whole manga.

I really don't see this whole "manga went downhill" thing..

First of all. Hiro is very well done as antagonist, his reasons were fully explained and are just the same as Inuyashiki' reasons to save people. He never tried to "redeem" himself for all the stuffs he did, he just wanted to be loved by Shion because literally the only thing that mattered for him was his mother who was taken away by his own actions and he thought he was alone and nobody cared for him. So Shion is basically the only one who did not betray him, why wouldn't he care for her and try to fit her expectations? And even Shion wasn't enough to "change" his way of thinking. His sacrifice was only for Shion and Naoyuki to live.

The Meteor was even there around the 40~ish chapter, mentioned on the tv. So I don't see it as a plot device? Even if it was a "plot device" it was well used for the develop of Inuyashiki character. He even said that the reason of his existence was for that moment. So what's wrong with ending his life like a hero? His sacrifice was meaningless because people don't know he did it? He didn't do it for fame, he did it because he thought that was the right thing to do.

Also lets not forget that they were not humans anymore, just a machine with the possibility of having memories and feelings. Inuyashiki saved lifes because it made him feel alive just like Hiro killed for the same reason.

About the quality of the backgrounds ???? I didn't saw a quality drop, not even in the last chapters.

I believe the only mistake the mangaka did was not explaining or caring to explain the process of healing and the stupid way of "yeah I know I can heal people but I see my daughter dead and since she doesn't woke up in the second she's totally dead whoa even thought this happened with the guy that got killed by the yakuza" forced drama.

I guess people expected a super happy ending like a shounen with flowers and the hero being hokage or something..

Of course the manga is not a 10/10 but it's well done and the ending wasn't trash like most of people say.
Expectations is no reality.

9/10 for me at least.

Where do I even start?!?! The first half of the manga was absolutely amazing but at some point the author took the story downhill. It was enjoyable for what it was. The gore was great, enjoyed the characters except for Shion (total idiot but that’s a whole other story) but this manga was cut short. It got me all hyped up in the first half for nothing, the fight was a slap in the face. And there were a lot of “I call bullshit” moments. It was all focused on Hiro’s tantrums and his changes/strength/growth. Inuyashiki barely appeared, cried way too much and never became the badass mc I thought he’d be.

I thought they would fight, Hiro would escape and go after one of his family members and kill them. Then Inuyashiki would flip and get serious about strengthening his abilities and defeating Hiro. I thought the government would capture one of them etc. etc. The meteor was random bullshit briefly mentioned halfway through and an easy way out. I expected more, I felt cheated.

This manga goes up and down in every possible way.

From being bad to good, good to bad, and just "fine". I enjoyed the personality of the villain as it gave him a sense of something for Gramps to fight against, but really...? We got like 4 chapters of them fighting and then that's it. Ending it with both them sacrificing themselves? Lel. I was hoping at least for the Old man to live so that he could continue saving people from cancer and the deaths that we saw.

The author would find more success if he challenged himself to stop killing people in his works. Do the exact same thing with all the slashings, mafia, swat, etc. but don't let anyone die. Then he'll understand why SoL is the hardest genre to write well, and be able to do something with these ideas...

Like it ended on some huge cliffhanger and it never goes on but there is still so much to be told. I don't understand the mangaka with stopping his story in the middle of nowhere. So much hate.

I liked it. A cliche start and ending to a dramatic hero saga, but i liked how it was told. How it brought up anger for how short it was. But happiness over the time spent going to that end.
More could have been done but then it would just be another "hero" manga with no end in site or a shounen with more and more battles. This was good, not great just good.

My god, you people should really stop whining about the ending, making a manga is hard as hell and you should atleast appreciate the effort Hiroyu Oka put into this manga. Not all manga or series needs to have a long ass cooldown to end the series, you guys should analyse the manga or anime or TV series if you wanna make a comment about it. The ending was a good fit to the series, it takes references to real life, like how everyone thinks that america was the one who stopped WW1, comparing that to how everyone thought america stopped the meteor. Btw Inuyashiki and Hiro got the powers because the aliens didn't want earth to be destroyed so they gave an ultimate power to him so he could stop the meteor.

SERIOUSLY ALL OF YOU GODDAMN ASSHOLES NEVER APPRECIATE THE EFFORT PEOPLE MAKE TO THE MANGA
