What an amazing episode, Akko played that incredibly smart. Diana did some super impressive magic. But thats just the thing, she just went by the book and just followed the rules. Akko instead questioned the situation and said "well why dont we do something better?"

Damn great episode, really heartwarming too. I could understand why Sucy and Lotte didn't want to go along with Akko, but they felt more like they were pushing her away in the last episode. Glad to see them all friendly again without that weird tension between them.

Also, I may be overthinking things here, but I wonder if it was intentional to block off the girl's face in the brief flashback

Or if that's just some random character.

Looking forward to the next episode and later for whoever the main villain will turn out to be

Back to Diana, if we are going through a Diana jealousy of Akko arc, timing wise would be role reversal, I think episode 12 concluded the Akko is jealousy of Diana character arc. Heck she gained some admiration, so whatever Diana going through, Akko just experienced, so if anyone would understand it is Akko. We could an Akko / Diana "you're great, no you're great" argument.

I think things won't be as easy for Diana though. Akko has shown to be willing to learn from her failures since the start. She might get depressed and complain, but she learns and improves and is constantly changing.

Diana on the other hand doesn't seem like she would be willing to even admit her flaws. She brushed off what happened in episode 2 and didn't change at all.

Well, eventually she will change, but it will take time and probably a bigger fuck up to get her there.

Akko seems to learn from her failures? Really? Man, she make shit every week in the school and don't pay attention to the class even after the episodes that develop this side of her.

I certainly loved this ep, Akko deserved some justice, and it was time for her efforts to bring results, I really smiled and felt happy when saw that :)

I hope the next episodes will be as good as this one, or at least promising... It was really worth it.

Yes, I got emotional like you too Diana. I just felt happy and proud for Akko, Lotte and Sucy. As someone who likes to do stuff differently and question traditions, I can definitely relate to Akko in this situation.

The episode really brings back everything that was great about Little Witch Academia and enhanced it to unimaginable beauty.

Akko begins in her room intending to make the Ghost laugh as a way of cheering her up. It shows Akko has thrown away her desire to become the Moonlit Witch and more on focusing in helping the Ghost as Akko felt sympathy towards her because she understand what it was like to be alone. Akko's greatest gift has always been to connect with others and it shows here.

Lotte and Sucy don't want to do it which Akko and we, the audience understand. However it was only when Hannah and Barbara insulted Akko's friends that Lotte and Sucy support Akko. The very reason Lotte and Sucy were in Luna Nova was because of their dream occupations and by insulting them, they only insulted their dreams. Lotte and Sucy helped Akko because they want to show everyone that those like them do matter in the magical world.

Which is why it was Lotte's time to shine. There are several changes that lead up to OVA parade and the Anime parade. Lotte of the OVA only saw a small perspective of the world and Akko which is what lead to the fight they had. However in the anime, Lotte saw the more noble qualities of Akko and learning that even though she submitted herself to her destiny, she is still the freak even to her own kind. Lotte fighting back against Diana and her posse is the equivalent of her getting her own character.

The visiting Witches themselves have more design because in my mind, they are reflections of Akko, Lotte and Sucy. Even in different worlds, Trigger wanted to us to know that despite all that, you'll find some similarities with someone.

The show started and we see Diana pulled off her show with the Unicorn. However looking at it further, the magic and the somber music reflects on Diana's character. Even though she present herself as the honor student and the pride of Luna Nova, she is still a little girl yearning for true love.

When Akko arrives is when things take turns for the better. If there is one thing we know about Akko is that she is filled with raw emotions and her magic reflects on that. But because of this, everyone from the students to Holbrooke herself could relate to the rookie witch. Each emotion Akko has represent a color of their own. Exploding like fireworks but showering the sky with colored light, the audience could see part of themselves, what it was like with their magic when they first started off. To capped it all, Akko unleashing the real powers of the Shiny Rod was a symbolism to the audience. They may had started off as rookies but as time went by, they became great witches. The witches responded to this stunt with thunderous applause to the trio who truly earned this victory.

Wonderful & fun episode.

Diana's water summoning performance was beautiful.

Akko, Lotte & Sucy's performance was amazing. Her metamorphosis magic was great.
Pulling out the Seed of Sorrow from the Vajarois & revealing her true form was so cool.

Hmm mysterious person at the end.

In the end, Akko put in just as much if not more work and preparation into her performance as Diana. The difference is she wasn't doing it alone and her motivation behind it at the end was completely different. Notice that after learning about the history of the ghost, Akko's motivation was purely about sympathy for the ghost while the whole Moonlit Witch got left in the dust. Really good episode!

Another fantastic episode!
everyone was entertained by the performance of Akko, Lucy & Lotte!
Even the judges was also impressed.
Just look at Diana, she was also has this different kind of emotion!
The 3rd word has been unleashed! Looks like Akko will figure-out all the word by herself from the looks of it without any help or guidance of Chariot/Ursula-sensei!
LOL at the face of Sucy when Akko is crying while holding both Lotte & her!
5/5.

Yes, I watched. And like I said, even when she had the development, she was making bad things in the school reviving dead people for example or sleeping in the class, the same error that she made before the development.

You're nitpicking. The dead revival was a comedy episode, and she fell sleep because she was training her butt off.

Agreed. How could Akko have known that her potion and Sucy's mushroom could resurrect the dead? You have to consider that the teachers and students had pushed Akko to the brink of tears and Akko created that potion in order to ensure she could stay in the school and avoid trouble to herself and her friends.

Also like 1idd0kun has mentioned, Akko had to constantly working hard to prepare for the festival that was going to be live in about several weeks. She had to juggle her normal activites and that.

Samhain Festival is here and it looks like only Diana and Akko's group impressed the judges.

That summon with Diana was impressive though I am getting a little tired of her always looking good. I like her and all but the day she loses to anyone, specifically Akko, it will be glorious.

Akko's performance was well received by the crowd and even the judges. I'm happy for her, she needed this.

5/5- Loved Sucy and Lotte deciding to join with Akko's plans. I also loved that Lotte also stood up to Diana and the bullies for Akko. This was really fun to watch as Akko continues to do what she feels is good in her heart rather than fold into the mold. Good thing she did that, rid that monster of its sorrow and impressed the Judges.

Even the ever so stoic Diana felt some sort of emotion after Akko's performance.

Also...Incoming Croix!?

So, from seeing everything so far, I conclude that Diana is probably jealous of what Akko brings to people. Jealousy, is a very complex feeling, but it's a human emotion that we feel almost everyday. Jealousy is a thin thread between loving and hating someone. So, of course Diana doesn't hate Akko, however they share a somewhat one-sided(?) rivalry, so it's too early to say that they are as close as Sucy and Lotte are to Akko. That's exactly what Jealousy is though.

...

Jealousy is ugly, but it is sympathetic because we all feel that way some time in our lives, or even now. Diana doesn't know the feeling of someone doing better than you in class or anything normal like that.

I don't think jealousy is the primary emotion Diana is feeling there. I think she feels guilty for being given an honour she thinks Akko deserves, for the second time in the series no less, based on a technicality. It isn't jealousy as much as she is earning a newfound respect for Akko. Diana has never really had anyone show her up before, and now this doofus Akko is doing it through hard work, gusto, and a heavy dose of showmanship. Diana doesn't really understand what she's feeling because it is a complicated set of emotions. I'm sure there is some envy in there over Akko having true friends willing to help her out through all of this and because of Akko's showmanship that diligently dry Diana lacks, but I think that is a smaller part of her tangled spiderweb of emotions right now.

Well a nice episode Ako didn't cause trouble this time and managed to give a very nice show but it seems Diana has some issues with it.
Well hope it's acknowledgement and not jealousy.

Even Diana doesn't know right now, she just knows she felt something that she never felt before.

Pretty sure it wasn't jealousy, because the reporter told Diana she won the competition and she said "What about Akko's group?" Looks like the sacrifice wasn't considered part of the show, or something like that, even though the reporter admired what Akko did.

I think it was more awe, not just of Akko, but of magic as a whole. I think this is the first time Diana has seen magic that inspired her, whereas for her it has always been a responsibility.

I think Diana deserves more credit then she gets from fans. She is the one who the entire magic community has pinned their hopes on for her entire life. Last episode when Akko read Diana's diary, she learned that Diana is doing everything she can to figure out how to stop the decline. She is so far past her teachers that she has to do everything on her own, all while knowing full well how much ordinary people hate magic (having to move within that social circle). Akko is blissfully ignorant of all this. That, I think is what makes Diana so annoyed with Akko (previously). Here Diana is fighting against ignorance, fighting against prejudice, having to act far far more mature than her years, having all the responsibility heaped on her shoulders, of course seeing some gadfly, playing around (yes, Akko is studying, but it hasn't show up anywhere Diana would see it until this episode).

Yes. YES! I can't agree more!

Miss Marjolaine is HOT AF like I expected ;)

Putting that aside lol, this episode was really great and was a perfect example as to why rooting for Akko's success just feels right. It's really sad and annoying how so many people hate on her so seeing her get the chance to be great and put everyone to shame and receive praise is quite heartwarming

Sucks that Diana once again is gonna get all the credit and be seen as THE future though....Akko really deserved this one but oh well, Diana did a good job too so I can't be THAT mad

Great episode overall though and it made me smile to see how they helped the blob thing...Also, looks like we got our first glimpse of our new antagonist =o

These last few episodes have been absolutely amazing.
This episode was really fun and exciting to watch. The magic stuff was great. Diana's magic look really beautiful ^_^ I hate the 2 girls with Diana tho. They piss me off so much. Acting all cocky with Akko but in reality don't actually do shit. Even in this performance xD

Third word revived :D I would love a more detailed explanation of that soon xD
Akko's performance was really fun to watch. I loved how the crowd really enjoyed it as well. That was nice to see, being appreciated. Shame they aren't gonna win it because they "broke the rules" :/ Was also interesting to see Diana feeling "something" towards Akko's performance ^^ This pic of Akko tho. WAY. TOO. ADORABLE.

Looks like a new villain at the end of the episode :O Next episode should be great. I'm excited! This show has gotten so much better recently and find myself wanting more of this :D

I need to clarify something here. Jealousy and envy are two different things, but they can be interlinked with each other.

First let's get the differences out of the way. Jealousy is when you're worried someone will take what you have while envy is wanting what someone else has.

You could say Diana is envious of the crowds invested reaction to Akko and her friends performance (she wants what they have/Envy) and that she's also afraid Akko might one day steal her position as top witch in the school out from under her (jealousy).

DAMMIT! I'm too old and cynical to feel moved by a cartoon, but when Akko, Lotte, and Sucy managed to pull the Seed of Eternal Sorrow from the heart of Vajarois I was full of emotion, and the look on Diana's face was the best, and I'm not saying that in a bad way, but that she was in awe of what the trio had done. Really this was a great episode.

akko gets more likeable after this episode. It just annoys me how lazy she is in every other episode.
Also pls consider that akko actually screwed up this time again. Only because Ursula was doing all the research they could handle the ghost.
Diana is the real MC. She has a great burden and is not just toying around.
Major plot point in the last few seconds? What was that?

She did get the credit. Everyone saw it this time and was impressed and they weren't impressed in secret either. Akko was the talk of the evening. What she won't get is an official title.

To see the face of Diana when she is disappointed, it is always a pleasure, yes! Episode interesting because of the further growth of Akko in the magical arts, and because the interpersonal relationship with Lotte and Sucy, is strengthened further. Really touching the tears of Akko, the first time, more than entertain, they touched me, really nice was the narrative. I can not wait, to see what the near future holds for us the story.

I wonder if Diana is secretly a Chariot fan because in the first episode she is seen watching Chariot's performance and her summoning seem to be inspired from one of Chariot's performances. I wonder if another part of her is enviously of Akko is her performance reminds of her what brought her to magic in the first place, Chariot. Its also somewhat ironic how each character tries hard to get something they can't obtain. Akko seems to be the one destined to save magic while Diana works hard to accomplish this goal and failing miserably. Akko wants to be a good witch like Diana, but no matter how she tries she is nowhere near as good as Diana at being a witch.

Must say I am not really feeling Sucy and Lottes bond with Akko since last few episodes.

Thank God Lotte took Akkos side.

I love how Akko challenges tradition. And ye it's much more fun when the prey actually fights back then just go like "oh ye please just me so we can get this over with" That's nonsense even if its tradition or whatever.

Wow she just freed a ghost of eternal sadness and you don't consider it an accomplishment? That's AMAZING. Don't mess with me. Disqualifying dem was disgusting. Hate.

I feel like Diana will say that she doesn't wanna accept the award and Akkos group deserves it more. Please do it.

There is little doubt that Diana loves Chariot. I think Diana was the one most disappointed by Chariot quitting, either because Diana thinks Chariot betrayed magic or because of some issue with Diana's mother. Akko can purely love Chariot because Akko never was involved with magic, but Diana has been in the magic world all her life - and given the state of magic, where even the teachers think it is boring, for her to lose the one person who loved magic, I think devastated her.

Since the award ceremony is off screen, so I doubt Diana will not accept the award or say something in her speech or anything. Part of Diana character is someone who always does what she told by adults, weather her professors or her family (I think her parents are the ones who forced to go to that party in episode 10) and follow the rules. I think her character will develop into someone who is not a door mat, but not yet, so she will accept the award and not disrespect authority.

Predictions for Episode 14

The episode starts off in a room with tons of computers. The computers are replaying the events of last episode where Akko and her team unleashed the power of the Shiny Rod to exorcised Vajarois of the Seed of Sorrow. They zooms in to have a clear look at the Shiny Rod. The one who viewed the computers smiled and clearly is aware what the item by saying its real name, Claiomh Solais.

Another day, party poppers were heard at the cafeteria. Almost everyone looks at the source and it was Diana's team. Diana had won the title of Moon Lit Witch and Hannah and Barbara are celebrating are bragging about their victory. As Diana gets showered in praised, Diana tilted her eyes to find Akko only to see her, Lotte and Sucy surrounded by quite a portion of of students of their own.

Ever since the festival, word spread about their reputation. The students didn't noticed that they have powerful Witches other than Diana but Akko was blushing a bit with Sucy commenting that Akko don't have the words to say it. Then, Wangari arrived bringing in newspaper showing in front page was Diana getting the title but at the bottom of the front page was Akko's team. Akko burst in cheers to be in front page and while Sucy states that its small, Akko didn't care, they were in the front page leading even more cheers from the students who are proud or envied them that they got in the front page since most of the time it was about Diana or something boring.

At Holbrooke's office, Holbrooke was quite amused that Akko got in and Ursula who was present as well, get congratulated by the former for doing a great job in Akko's progress.

Meanwhile, Diana wants to talk to Akko about an issue but gets blocked by the other students who has problems of their own. Akko has shown more optimism than before and when the sessions were over, she asked Lotte and Sucy on going on a trip.

As night arrives, Diana looked at the book and she kept reading about the Claiomh Solais which she knows that Akko has it. It was the key in saving magic but this wasn't the issue, it was the feeling she's getting. Everything she thought about Akko, all of it, blew right back into her face. She's unsure if she was happy or sad or whatever it was. Diana looked to a drawer and was about to open it but she stepped back and returned to her seat.

Akko took her friends to the fields that night, the same fields that Shiny was when she was a student. Lotte or Sucy inquires why she brought them here. Akko's replied. Her answer; renew vows. When the Fountain of Polaris showed Akko the vision of Chariot, it inspired her to do this, not only to have fun and games but to also reaffirm to them that if she ever got to her dreams, it would be alongside families and friends who stick by with one another. With that, the girls have a wonderful time at night.

Next day, the girls prepare for their next course until the arrival of Croix.

Now that I've rewatched episode 11 and paused to see each red flash into the future, I have a couple of theories I'd like to see if they come true. First of all, the person with the mystery cubes is Diana's mother. She unleashes the cube dragon onto a nearby town, setting it on fire and destroying it. The townspeople blame Luna Nova because it is related to magic. Past that, I'm not sure what might happen yet. I only want to say that I really like Diana and don't want her to be the villain. I hope her and Akko will become friends, work together to save Luna Nova and the world of magic.

P.S. What was that head rolling thing Sucy was doing in episode 13 while listening to Hanna and Barbara scold Akko? Somebody make a GIF out of it!
