It's down tuned and played slow but not as slow as Drone. It has a gloomy depressing sound to it which is why it's called doom metal. Black Sabbaths early stuff is what the sound was based on.
Gothic Metal usually is just a way of describing aethetics and themes rather than a genre alone. So most Gothic Metal Bands are either Doom Metal or Symphonic Metal or something like that. The only uniquely identifying term ive seen associated with it is "beauty and the beast vocals". Which means a female with a pretty voice does clean vocals and harsh vocals are done by a male to create contrast. But not all bands called gothic metal have two vocalists or a female vocalist.
Avant Garde just means highly experimental basically. So it's stuff that sounds unusual or artsy. It's just very non traditional.
Black metal + Post Rock or Shoegaze
Pretty much so the line between the two can be blurry. Listen to Year of No Light, Neurosis, Russian Circles.
Noted
It's a fusion of Doom Metal and Hardcore Punk but a lot of bands fuse it with Post-Metal or Stoner Metal too. Yes Stoner Metal is a genre too, it's just Stoner Rock basically it's not much different.
This reminded me, isn't pantera a Sludge band 'cause now that I think about it, this term was applied to the them by someone
Progressive Metal just is well progressive metal. It progresses slowly building up more complexity or intensity. It's styled after progressive rock. Also the term "technical" is basically used kinda the same way so a technical death metal band might also be called progressive death metal by some people.
So basically what I said worded better + few things, get it, isn't early megadeth progressive metal?
It's just to describe the lyrical content mostly since Black Metal traditionally is about Satanism and anti-religiousnes, more specifically annti-christianity so many other genres with different lyrical content use it in the genre name. Its usually shortened to DSBM. If you find that odd youd be shocked to hear National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM) is a sub genre of black metal too.
Lol, but yeah explains some stuff
To be more accurate Rammstein belongs to a genre known as Neue Deutsche Härte (Trans: New German Hardness) which includes bands like Oomph!. There are plenty of Industrial Metal bands but not as many as there are Industrial Rock bands id say. Bands like Pain, KMFDM, and Ministry for example are some I like.
I think I'm gonna check'em out in a bit

Listen to each song like twice while writing the response XD
I like both of them and it's hard to say which one I like more, tbh I have no idea what you mean by "this kind of thrash", did you mean catchy?
The first is really good I like the mix of faster thrash riffs with more classic metal ones also the bass is good.
The second one I think I actually like more tho, it's mainly due to the chorus |
