I'm talking anime that had almost everything you look for in a great show but fell short in something.

And before you start typing I mean shows you still thought were enjoyable for example the Rasheed Wallace/ Lamar Odoms of the anime world guys who were good basketball players but could have been so much more, if you're a basketball fan you'll get this.

Anime EX:

Seven Deadly Sins
I though the tandem of Meliodas and Elizabeth both bogged down the show even though the rest of the main cast were really likable. I also thought the ending came out of nowhere and with the ass pulls.

Big Windup! I thought it was a great show, but I feel like there was a lack of any real tension in it. Not that I'm saying it needs to be very dramatic, but I never felt like there was any tension coming from someone who plays baseball. I still like it.

This season's qualidea code. It had the potential to be a great show but it is ruined by poor writing.

I still consider it a very enjoyable work but quality wise, it's shoddy.

That and it has very very fucking shoddy art compared to A-1's normal standard of quality. For how much they hyped and promoted this show you'd think they'd have actually put some budget behind it.

Cant go a week without seeing places riddled with posts of screencaps of insanely derpy and poor quality frames from the show.

I wish darker than black actually had a story that developed throughout all the episodes and not only the last ones.
Madoka Magica's was interesting but that last episode ruined everything it has been done until then.
Haikyuu!! had a good first impact on me but after the first season the focus on the characters is not enough.

Mahou Sensei Negima the anime. It could be as good as the manga, if the authors weren't such prudes, and if they didn't write out one of my favorite characters.

Wixoss did a lot of things well and could have easily been better than Madoka but it just felt like it was lacking something.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex(both seasons)... I would give this a 10 if I didn't really feel that it drags on with it's non stand alone episodes prior to its climax...

Berserk with that ending.

Serial Expirements Lain misleading the audience with irrelevant stuff like the alien, even the game and te professor dude's story. There's a lot of lot plot threads that go nowhere.

Off the top of my head, Gakkougurashi!. It's still one of my favorites of course, but I watched it (and other similar shows, like Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, Coppelion, and Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou, etc.) with Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica in mind, since a lot of people have compared them to having a similar atmosphere. And they really did, and Gakkougurashi! was phenomenal in its use of the setting and in making me really connect to the characters and feel their despair and their bond with each other. However, there were some major flaws (one is the ending) that made it fall just a bit. If it had a better ending, I think it would indeed have been on par with MSMM. The other is Selector Infected WIXOSS. The first season was PHENOMENAL, I rated it a 9 and think that it is very, very, VERY close to MSMM, but the second season ruined everything. So it fell flat in that respect.

Attack on Titan. I loved it, but something's missing in order to launch it to the next tier. Its ending wasn't conclusive enough. Although it had a great story with great characters, the Big Picture dominates it. It's part of a larger series and the anime's ending prevents it from standing alone.

Still worth watching, but a slightly more conclusive ending would've made for a brilliant anime.

Seeing Vash be such a fucking badass i wanted him to kill a lot more people especially the ones he was nice to even tho they were shitbags, but that is my personal preference not a fault of the show.

Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen. It's almost perfect but many secondary characters feel like plot devices.

Akuma no Riddle should have had a more natural and sensible ending. I understand what it was going for, but damn, they really didn't put much thought into it from the looks of things. It really seemed like the production team didn't know what to do at that moment and just threw in what they had at the last minute. Still a great show overall.

Parasyte's theme exploration was rather shaky and one-sided. I also feel like certain characters weren't as fleshed out as they could have been (Kawashima is a fine example). The show is a nice concept executed very well along with great animation and tight pacing, but these shortcomings kept me from giving it a higher score.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood could have used better directing and screenwriting as well as pacing for an otherwise solid adaptation of a phenomenal manga.

To me this is Re:Zero right now. It's very very close to a 10/10 and just need one last push but not really and still remains a 9. But hey, Shigatsu and OPM used to be on the same boat and I gave them 10 in the end.

Also there are several where it got really close from 8 to 9 and 9 to 10 which I cannot clearly indicate on my list.

Nah Rasheed is a boss he got like 50 technicals in one season and for Lamar Odom we got Ben Simmons now so we good anyway I would say Attack on Titan,It had the interesting settings, the nice art and animation, the dark atmosphere and everything but the characters were just bad and halfway through it didn't make any sense oh yea and let's not forget about no S2 for like 4 fuckn years.

I mean, for me there are a lot of shows that miss the mark because of one or two big issues, lots of single seasons rom-coms have a lot of potential, but never go anywhere and are never continued. Maid-Sama started to drag, then ended out of no where with very very little actual build up. Guilty Crown tried to be "it" but failed miserably in nearly every aspect. Gosick started to drag, then rushed an ending (similar to maid-sama).

I mean, I could probably list at least like 15-20 shows just off the top of my head, but I wont

I'd say my 9/10 shows but I don't have 10/10's so they do have it.

Assassination Classroom seemed to go on longer then it should have in my opinion.
Btooom fell flat at the end barring the lack of a second season.

Yeah I agree it felt like it was gonna explore humanity themes more but it kinda plateaus and turned into just beat the enemy type show I also thought some character could have been better.

I love Sheed I'm a Pistons fan but he had a great skillset, but he really didn't have that alpha mentality to be more he was kind just satisfied with what he was. Yeah I'm excited for Ben to can't wait to see him play.

Death Parade - some of the characters felt underdeveloped to the point where they seemed pretty pointless to the overall storyline.

Steins;Gate - I know people will probably hurl abuse at me, but oh well. The start was incredibly incredibly INCREDIBLY slow. It took 4-5 hours before anything actually happened FFS.

Despite the flaws, I did enjoy these shows.

I'm going to say Welcome to the NHK. The series was great as a whole, but it felt like it was missing something and needed a little more oomph to make it feel fulfilling...

Macross. It did a lot right, but kind of wasted a lot of time. I feel like it would have been a lot better if it was about 10 episodes shorter.
