Yeah this was fast, but not really as if he didn't care about.

Also would not make sense to cry a lot for her now, you will only understand if you keep watching. Mayoi/Maya gave a tip about this.

I think the best part of this episode was the lack of a trial, which is sad tbh.

The morning after the incident, before he went to visit Mayoi, I thought the wrinkles under his eyes strongly implied that he had been crying.

god that anime has the emotional depth of an elementary schoolers essay and the characters seem to be written by the same dude who writes for japanese soap operas.

i don't know what i expected, because i never played an ace attorney game, but definitely not this...

Localized version subs called ramen "burgers". Fucking amazing. I swear I'll give the show at least a 6 if the subbers keep up their good work.

Hmm... not so impressed with this anime. Since I've been hearing a lot about Phoenix Wright, I'd actually thought they'd make a good anime of it.

The lack of emotions, the lack of facial expressions, and of course a budget animation lower than DEEN's anime made me cringe somehow.

THIS. I don't know why most people are complaining about this...
For me the anime is very cool, the OST is good in this episode.
I never got to the end of this game, so I'm excited to see it.

I plyed the game and this anime is amazing to me still. So far its my AoTY beating out Erased even comparing just Erased's first four (aka best four) episodes. Good stuff. I got so emotional when Phoenix showed her just how many lawyers he called for her sake so she could have someone defend her. I think the animated form helps here vs visual novel form and it was so fucking touching.

Haha, it's so weird to hear the names in Japanese. I'm so used to the english names after playing the games. One thing I love about the anime so far is that it's giving us more backstory on Phoenix and the other characters.

For example, Phoenix recalling his childhood or when Edgeworth was looking at Mia's case profile. For those of us that have played the games, the foreshadowing was awesome :D

I can't stress how strange it is to be watching this after so long of waiting for an anime of this. It's even stranger when the ones voicing them are different voices than the ones I've been used to from all the various Japanese commercials.

I'm for one am very glad that this wasn't wrapped up in one ep because the case was too important. Not only the senpai's death but also Reiji's intro, Naru's arrest, and the case is a bit complicated overall.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't show her die because even that's important buildup (I hate the culprit so much...)

I wish they kept the "I want to hear my sister's voice" one more time cause he brought the phone back. It's supposed to state when Chihiro called. Instead, we get some awkwardness. Maybe the next ep? MATTER OF FACT, they have a lot to tell next ep. Even the visit to a particular person's...company.

And they don't emphasize that Naru-Nick was arrested as well because Dick/Keisuke''s is a total dumb dumb. It was through a weird flashback instead?

Speaking of Dick....great voice. Definitely what I was expecting. Something that makes you say, "how the hell is he a cop?" However, Reiji...I probably need to hear it more. It's correct, but I thought it was odd same the same time. What are these ears picking up?

Episode 2, in which we are finally introduced to the edgiest prosecutor alive.

Much like last time, there was definitely a lot of love, and you can see it in the little touches (such as when Phoenix was watching the news coverage of Mia's death and the "the miracle never happen" theme was playing, or Grossberg's painting), although i think they're getting a bit too blatant with the references. The animation is still pretty bad. Sasuga A-1.
Edgeworth's VA is pretty fitting, but i think Gumshoe's sounds a little bit too old. Nothing that'll bother me too much, but still.
I also think Maya looks a bit younger than she looks in the games, and i can't quite put my finger on what's giving me that impression. I think it might be the cheeks.
And while i do realize the killer is shown in-game at the very start of the case, the adaptation reeeeally wants to drive the point home, huh?
Was the girl who gave Phoenix the umbrella Daliah or did she just have similar hair as a nod to her? Or was that completely unintentional and i'm just reading too much into this?

Also, i just noticed that Phoenix's hair looks a lot like Edgeworth's when seen from behind. Interesting.

I am glad they are taking their time with investigations, its better to avoid a rush mess like Danganronpa anime was. But still, its only 1 cour... I doubt they'll be able to adapt the steel samurai case and the Skye sister cases like this... mmm.

What was the point of making this into series? Yahari did not show a slightest sign of grieve first episode over his murdered friend. They neither are alive nor feel like it. If they keep playing their childish game os justice they can do it outside of show-time.

This episode is better than the first one. Nice adaptation from the game. Of course there are some scene from the game that did not showed up in the anime especially the scene where the police came without a scene of calling them (but this will be explained, i think, in the next episode) and the "big... vocabulary".

That car drift is so badass.

This episode feels much more like an actual story than the last one. I like how they built their relationship before he defends her.

I never played the games but this anime is doing a good job at making me interested in them (the only reason this anime exists is to advertise the games anyway).

Wrote with victim's blood, detective Itonokogiri/Gumshoe assumes that the victim used her last strength to write the name of the murderer.

Just another problem caused for the pacing/being rushed :c

I figured that was the case, but just seemed really sudden and would think that they would need more evidence than just that to arrest and charge her for murder.

there was a witness in the neighboring hotel who saw Mayoi at the crime scene, was this witness who called the police (game), but it was cut off in the anime. As I recall was just that, the witness will have to appear in the next episode.

In episode 2 Naruhodou went to her hotel room, in the game he interrogated her there, but in the anime she was taking a bath this time.

WTF is the name in sub different from the one they speak.
Chihiro -> Fei,
Shochuku Mayoi -> April May,
Naruhodo -> Phoenix Wright

and many more. its all sounds stupid, cant the translator just keep the name they speak. No need to westernise the name, not everyone wathcing here are englishman in the first place.

Good more serious. Some random fast development. Art better now. Why is random detective taking sides? He official or private?
I'll take a miso ramen shaped like a burger.

Btw tried Crunchyroll ep1, 1080p looks nice. SD still jittery. No audio?

I'm not an "englishman", but I'm used to english names because I have played the english Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban, it was not translated in my language. For 11 years Naruhodou Ryuuichi has been Phoenix Wright for all non-japanese players.

Anyway I really don't care about it, I'm watching from a sub with japanese names, but I will always think of them as Phoenix, Edgeworth, Gumshoe, Mia, Maya, Larry, Payne, Von Karma etc ...

I don't know whether or not it's because I haven't played the game, but I just don't find this anime that interesting. It's not that bad honestly, but it just doesn't appeal to me tbh. I'll keep watching to see if that'll change, but right now I'm just not feeling it.

Also that objection at the end: I know it's a catchphrase and all, but it was definitely out of place.

There were some OBJECTIONABLE things in the first episode. Aside from being weak episode, Objection creates shockwave? It's not Capcom vs Marvel adaptation.

In the second ep, Maya being "not sad enough" in detention center is distracted me from episode. And the music was goofy for that scene, ruined the atmosphere.
Aside from that obviously improving.

It is not a problem in pacing, rather a problem that arises in the legal system in-universe. In the world of Ace Attorney, a 3-day trial system is introduced in response to rising crime rate, so " criminals" can be brought to justice swiftly. Needless to say, this harsh system is unjust to falsely accused people, and basically

Gumshoe and Edgeworth make their appearance ... man, the latter's voice is different from what I expected lol XD Especially his hair, the art is kind of weird ... they show his office and von Karma too, so they might do the whole first game then! Plus there were some really awkward cuts IMO, not to mention how did he know where the witness was staying? Either way, we get a brief flash of White, and then next episode will be the courtroom scene ... I wonder how long they'll stretch out each case? Maybe 3-4 episodes? I mean they get pretty long especially the later ones ... hmm. Maya's voice really fits her though! :P Even though uh, her art gets kind of weird sometimes too >_< Oh well, gonna watch the next episode now :O
