Let's see...
Winter, we were "blessed" with KanColle and Aldnoah S2. Tokyo Ghoul RA failed us all by becoming crap. Shinmai Maou was absolute bullshit and, finally, Koufuku Graffiti introduced a whole new definition of meh. However, Durararax2 started. Parasyte and Shigatsu ended magnificently, the former being obviously superior. And Death Parade was pretty good. As for AOTS, Saekano. Don't ask why. It's fucking GOAT.
Spring was, well, pretty good. The long awaited Owari no Seraph adaptation started (But ended up as shit). Kekkai Sensen bursted from out of nowhere and became a cult classic in Japan. DanMachi reminded us, again, why we hate SAO so much. Ore Monogatari introduced one of the most GAR characters in all of Shoujo Anime, Takeo. Plastic Memories, the supposed dark horse, fell on its face way too fast. Nisekoi's second season introduced the world to best girl Haru. Hibike Euphonium blessed the world with background waifus and yuri undertones taken to the extreme (oh yeah, and some music). Grisaia's second season was surprisingly decent. Ansatsu ended pretty abruptly, though we have a season 2 incoming. Ufo-fangays continued to suck type-moon's dick with the new F/SN blasting with sales. The Batman returned with Oregairu's masterfully crafted second season. And finally, Gintama.
Summer was pretty much crap, with the 2nd half of Shokugeki to keep my eyes from bleeding out. Overlord and Charlotte were able to utilize cop outs in order to fool the audience into thinking some smart dynamic was going on (Pathetic). Gakkougurashi ended up a failure of an adaptation that ruined the original with all of its bullshit. Himouto died halfway, the jokes getting really sickening. Fucking Chaos Dragon in all its bullshit and trickery. God Eater... I don't fucking... What the fuck... And Ranpo Kitan, basically the worst thing to happen since Twilight fanfiction made it to shelves. Redeeming shows include Rokka no Yuusha, which was able to pull a word-per-word adaptation while still being good. Gate, while it ended abruptly, was pretty neat for its world building and politics. Joukamachi carried the season with Hanazawa's character. Jitsu wa Watashi wa was able to build a pretty decent harem story (Who knew we'd see that day). Durararax2 Ten was... okay. Arslan almost made it, with only a half-decent conclusion which is sad. And finally, Prison School and Shimoseka. (Oh yeah, and Lupin)
Lastly, Fall. Decent, to say the least. The OPM adaptation hit the community like a storm, becoming one of the most popular series to date. Rakudai Kishi was able to introduce and realize themes into its naturally flawed story which is pretty fucking good. Comet Lucifer, in all its potential, fell straight into the incinerator where we can never hope to see it again. Dance with Devils (and oh my god, I can't believe this shit's ending tomorrow!) was full of shit. Osomatsu-san was able to create a large-scale underground community which I still find strange considering the show's blatant un-funnyness. Diabolik Lovers graced us with its unwelcome return reminding us how shitty it still is. Owari's second season, while more bearable, is still going to be shit, most probably. Heavy Object brought in heavy-metal, babe grabbing buddy cop action which I find most pleasing. Noragami Aragato surpassing its first season with probably the best arc in the second half. Haikyuu once again makes tumblr explode. And finally, Gundam, which burst from the shadows and dominated the sci-fi world with its explosive and engaging story. As for the AoTS, Subete ga F ni Naru which stormed the front with its old school detective style writing and unique existentialist approach.
And with that, the year is probably... just okay, with Winter being probably the most memorable season of the four.
As for 2016, since we're seeing the return of Attack on Titan, I probably should start preparing my anti-AoT-fag bunker. |
