And why do you not enjoy yuri/ enjoy yuri if you already like yaoi?

I like shoujo ai and I have watched one shounen ai and enjoyed it. I would be willing to watch more shounen ai if anyone recommends one to me. If a girl tells me to watch one then I feel less weird about it.

sometimes. Liking either doesnt necessarily say anything about your sexuality though. Straight guys can like yaoi and straight girls can like yuri. as for me I'm straight and like both.

One problem is that many societies ridicule men for exuding qualities that are considered feminine or non-hetero, or showing interest in such things. Personally, I don't give a fuck how people judge me. I'll read yuri and yaoi.

I'm a bisexual woman, but I don't particularly like either. Granted, I haven't explored either genre very much as I tend to be a little sensitive to it. Yaoi is usually intended for a female audience, which seems semi-exploitative and makes me uncomfortable, and I haven't come across any yuri or shoujo ai with a story that appeals to me.

That's true, though what I actually meant is that men tends to go either way (hetero or homo), while women tends to go both ways (bi). Therefore, I think it is more likely for a woman to like both, rather than a man.

Also, the gay men I know are far from "feminine". Some are more masculine than I am, and I feel close to zero attraction to other men (except myself of course, hu hu).

There are some really interesting and mature yuri manga though, I have to read more of them.

Of the two hentai I've seen one was a romantic yuri hentai and the other was a straight rape hentai. I don't think you can draw any conclusions based on that small a sample size, but I think there is rape in hentai no matter where you look. There are also only 37 yuri and 37 yaoi listed on MAL when there are over 1,000 hentai in total.

Shoujo / Josei smut in general is pretty rapey. I haven't really read any Yaoi but since they really do look strikingly similar to Hetero Shoujo / Josei smut I would be willing to bet yes.

I prefer BL over GL. I dunno why, it's more interesting, even if we compare a completely innocent BL to an innocent GL series, I'd still find the former cuter just like me comparing K-On!! to Kimi to Boku.

However, that doesn't prevent me from reading GL occasionally.

Does it count if you're gay? Ignore my answer if so. But yes I enjoy yuri. It seems more pure to me. I enjoy yaoi a lot too (hence my username) but if I had to put a percentage, it would be:
yaoi 59% - yuri 41%.

[center][size=90]I usually like reading BL for the relationship dynamics [ especially the fluffy and cute ones ], since the ones I've read so far seem to be devoid of the complications that come with shoujo romance. Then again, I've read so few manga that this statement probably is just from my own experience.

That being said, I would be open to reading GL [ is that the right term? ]. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but I have yet to find any GL manga that isn't entirely fanservice-purposed [ I've heard Citrus is good, though, so maybe I will give that one a try ]. When I read a manga I'm simply looking for a cute relationship that has a sophisticated- ah, well, that's not quite the word I was looking for, but it'll have to do- story behind it; the gender of the people in the relationship doesn't really matter, I guess?

Mostly every BL adapted into Anime form is dubcon (aka rape/sexual harassment). It's popular and it sells. That's why I don't really use BL Anime when I discuss the genre.

The few that aren't rape: Kono Danshi series, Love Stage!, Hybrid Child, Gravitation, Gakuen Heaven and some of the BL game adaptations like Dmmd that have no romance/sex whatsoever.

a lot of yaoi fangirls tend to be like straight men who are into lesbian porn but otherwise homophobic
so in this case that would mean being into yaoi and fetishizing gay men but thinking lesbians are gross etc

personally i used to hate yaoi because so much of it has romanticized rape and a lot of the fans are creepy. now i know there are actual good titles but i usually wait for a recommendation before looking at anything.
i used to love yuri when i was 13/14 before it started annoying me that most of the newer titles are essentially just moe fluff with no substance. now i mostly just wait for recommendations, like with yaoi.
ehhh
m/m and f/f fanfiction written by actual queer people is better imho
