Yes keep shielding yourself from the reality that not everyone views/accepts the same piece of media in the same way.
Must be nice to wear those rose-tinted glasses all the time.

That's not it.
It's a fact that most people on the MAL forums really like to crush other people's enjoyment. It's like if they didn't enjoy it - nobody can. And that is a failure as a human being.

There certainly is an open way for another season but I hope it won't happen. It's better if we are left with this somewhat "vague" ending. The way I see it another season would only ruin everything that was good about this show. Leaving things ambiguous is actually a good thing to do sometimes.
And don't tell me "just don't watch it". The moment I would find out that it exists - of course I'd watch it. Even against my better judgement.
You should find closure in what has been given to you - it will work in this case.

Same. I kept procrastinating watching the last episode cause I knew it was gonna be sad... I watched it when I came back home from Kefalonia and the jet-lag mixed with the feels and the knowledge that I still needed to unpack made me cry buckets.

I was dreading every episode since finding out about her deadline. I could picture the ending in my head for so long... so I thought I'll prepare myself mentaly. Fuck that - no ammount of preparation could help...

That was pretty good.

8/10

Could've been easily a 9 if it was longer and more depth. Considering this was only 13 episodes, they did a pretty good job. Enjoyable to the end.

Well it wasn't exactly what I wanted out of the anime, I was kinda hoping it would focus more on their job rather then their relationship but even so that ending was pretty anti-climactic and the anime overall was average.

Exactly my thoughts.

They tried too hard with the "feels" between the relationship of Tsukasa and Isla. Just like SAO, forcing romances and getting away from the interesting aspect about their world just to appeal to the casual audience that eat up the rom-com cliche. Maybe this series would have been better off as an live adaptation. Cause I felt nothing from this.

7/10

I got more out of Chobits than this, which had its episodic nature and the plot revolving around the male lead and female lead.

Even in this last episode I could not hold back the tears, I finally disbanded as a giacciolo, was too sad ending. Too bad that eventually Isla has gone leaving us alone, who knows who the new patner of Tsukasa. Cute and funny even this episode, the designs have proven good quality. Discreet screenplay, I'm sorry it lasted so little this series, I would on this occasion many more episodes. Excellent soundtrack and cute the ending. Rating 7.5 / 10.

The show is fine, but I felt it would've been more interesting if they went deeper into the robots and their part in society.

In the world of Plastic Memories there are apparently still people that don't see Giftias as living beings, but just as machines, as evidinced by the guy from the security firm. Thought it'd be interesting if they went deeper into that, but instead they give it one line and then toss it aside. Like does Tsukasa not feel weird in the slightest little bit that he's having a relationship with a robot? Not saying he shouldn't, but it must pop into his head from time to time. How would his parents feel about him dating a robot? Those could've been interesting things for them to tackle.

The drama felt forced at times, but that's usually the case with anime. Overall I thought it was a fun ride.

Cute and slightly bittersweet series over all. They did a good job forging a connection between the characters and the audience. Even for those that were in there for only one episode. But I really liked the show. 8/10

So I guess the handshake in the end was her huh? It was a fun anime to watch.
The comedy was surprisingly hilarious. Decent story.

i would have wanted a more fleshed out story though with more details about gaftias and maybe showing people who treat em like shit coz theirs no way in hell that ALL of them treat em nice.

Have a few more darker moments showing gaftias going out of control like the woman in ep5 or 6. that was sick yet so sad.

The best episodes were probably episode 4, 5, 6 and 13.

Boring is the first word that came to my mind after watching first episode and from there the urge to drop it grew stronger after every episode but I still wanted to finish it.

Now the anime has a nice sci-fi concept but it fails to appeal me with the melodramatic plot. What makes this show even more dull are the characters. Characters like Tsukasa, our generic lame protagonist, his clumsy loli lover Isla and that annoying tsundere girl made the show even less interesting to watch.

Overall 5/10.

It was OK, deserves a 6/10 to me, +1 for the strong feelings at the end (even if Tsukasa's reactions were meh... his voice barely raises at the final moment when I was waiting for... more).
Anyway, comments of 1/10 elitists and 10/10 weaboos are always funny to read for this type of show.

Even though I consider this anime enjoyable, it's nothing more than that. It didn't captivate me at all. Found the characters a bit bland and the romance between Isla and Tsukasa appeared out of nowhere, very rushed. This whole series felt hollow to me, there was nothing in it memorable. Maybe if this show was 24 eps it would be different but with 13 there was little space to expand all the details that would make it awesome. =(

It's called the feel syndrome. If it can makes me cry 10/10
If I shed a tear 9/10
If I was sad 8/10
If I felt something 7/10
If I felt nothing 6/10

This show was a really entertaining show in my opinion. It did have its lows, but it definitely had its highs. I would rate it 7/10.

The only thing I never got was in the first episode when Tsukasa sees Isla crying in the elevator and I think she says something to him. I don't know if I missed it or forgot, but I don't remember a flashback when they tell us what she said or why she was crying. Anyone know why?

I'll never understand this. Feels in this show were very... plastic but mostly shoved with comedy and romance. It felt very inadequate. Isla was about to die. I'd expect some existentialist thoughts about life and AI but the show went on like it was nothing. It felt childish but I guess it was supposed to be. Living your life to the fullest and (most likely not) being reunited with a pedo creep who just wanted to get into your panties through most of the show and is gonna get another child android soon anyways just doesn't cut it to me.
I still enjoyed it though. The art was really cute and I like how the dialogues were easy to understand and the pacing was slow. It was relaxing to watch but some of it felt weird and forced.

Damn all these low numbers though. Personally I enjoyed it, haven't felt a feel in a while so this needed to kick the manliness off me. Time to punch a wall.

The thing about this anime is that it's so predictable. Isla should be like a fucking god that'll save the world from hell or some shit, not just her being an android girl and like all androids, they die. There is some hope left, considering the slight reveal at the end.
(someone mentioned it in a comment box for the anime site, but wasn't the ending a bit too similar to when Isla was introduced as an office member? Isla walking into the door and her giving the handshake to Tsukasa, same with the ending. Walk into office and a hand shake.)

The moment Isla died and the ending played... It was so sad seeing her as the credits rolled. Man, I grew to love her...

Okay it's not the time to say stuff like this but as I am trash so I will point it out anyways. Tsukasa took a "9 months" holiday to "train" and "he learned a lot". There, it's dumb but I pointed out anyways. The devil inside me is happy now. Seriously, why must I do this at such sad end.

Who's the new partner? It wasn't Isla, that's for sure. But I feel like she was forgotten way too easily by the end. Sure, 9 months passed but still... Sigh...

It was a great anime. Except for mediocre episode 5, I really liked the entirety of it. 9/10. R.I.P. Isla...

There is an earlier episode that outlines the OS refresh cycle and I'm pretty sure it was exactly 9 months, which is why everyone in the office was looking at Tsukasa with such anticipation at the end as he met his "new" partner.

Finally got the time to finish this...

Ending didn't make me cry but I did shed a tear in beginning so idk I feel like the whole anime was a bit of a dissapointment?Atleast to me it was.Hell at first it was focusing on A.I(which was the main reason why I watched in the first place),then some comedy, then a bit of fanservice and later on forced romance. -_-

so... 7/10 because it started really original(I think I even put it in my favorites at some point) and it had it's moments, but ended as every sad anime ever tbh.

There's a whole ton I can complain about with this series, but the second half of this episode was too beautiful for me to text wall rant here. I still wish the entire series was in the same vein as the first half, but my gosh this was beautiful anyway. So damn sad. ;_;

This sure was a nice watch, I really liked it.
My favorite character is Eru, because of her little story and design + how hilarious she is, but Isla is defintely my second!

Very solid 8/10 from me, there were so ehh episodes in the middle, but the first time that android became a wanderer, the first episodes, Eru's episodes and then this finale were all amazing episodes so it made up for it.

Heartbreaking farewell. ): The Angel Beats-esque ending though. -_-

Even though it was sad, I thought the journey to the ending was bad. The second half had a lot of forced moe, just to make the ending sadder, but while it worked, it had a lot of cringe, and a more decent (serious take) development would just have effect as good as, if not better than the route they went with. The romance didn't really feel very romance-y, and felt really forced on Isla's part. The rest of the supporting characters changed way too fast in the second half to accompanied the relationship between the main duo, and for most of the screen time they had, they were just.. stereotyped.

In the end, the series felt like a "pointless" journey of Isla / Tsukasa, unlike other tearjerk series (Shigatsu / Clannad / AnoHana) I don't feel as though any of them has developed, which is why I feel that it's "pointless". Not that they need to, but it makes me feel that the only point to this series is to illicit feels, and that's all. I have known a few shorter series/special/OVA that have done better job at it without feeling forced.

That said, "I hope one day, you will be reunited with the person you cherish." was meaningfully heavy, and it was well placed in the series.

Well, I knew how it will end. But that I would cry that much.... woooooooow!!! :o My biggest wish in episode 13 was to help them, to find a solution so that Isla-chan will be like a human and can still be a couple with Tsukasa-kun. But sadly nobody can... I voted with 4 of 5 because I think there is no hope and that made me feel sad for a very long time! Come on, it's not real says my brain, but my heart thinks different and I'm still crying :S

The ending really capitalized on the romance. Was kinda expecting this to be a tragic story where they go through all of the retrievals, each presenting a sad story, kinda like how Death Parade had their story laid out.

Tbh, I prefer this story than Clannad's story. I don't know why but I didn't cry as much when it came to Clannad. Enough with comparing this to others. I rate this anime a 7/10, mainly for the (somewhat) poorly introduction to the anime.

Tsukasa could definitely be fleshed out more. Really enjoyed Isla's personality. Seeing her grow was a plus for this anime, but I didn't really enjoy the early interactions with her and Tsukasa, it was really hard to watch.

Ending was a plus for the romance side of things. I loved how they showed very slight hints as to how each person actually felt, and that they were putting on a fake face.

I didn't expect this to really get me right till the end. I guess it's AOTS for me.

1. Characters: +1.Tsukasa and Isla aren't even the best characters in my opinion, Michiru being my favorite, probably followed by Yasutaka, and the rest of the cast wasn't disappointing at all.
2. Atmosphere: +1. The atmosphere of the setting was well done from the very start, I never felt it faint.
3. OST: +1. The OP + the background themes were well done. As well as the ED.
4. Animation: +1. Great animation quality, I loved it.
5. Background story: +0.5.
6. Storyline: +1. The story progress was well done, better than I expected it to be for this kind of story.
7. Ending: +0.5. It was good.
8. Drama: +0.5.
9. Overall affect: 0.5. I liked the anime from the very start to the end and I will remember it for sure.
Overall Score: 8/10. I really wanted this to last longer. Great watch anyways.

Okay let me get this straight to people who say that the ending is predictable. No shit Sherlock.

Alright, besides the ending being predictable and basically handed to you to an extent from every single episodes leading up to 13, people are forgetting that Plastic Memories as a series has encompassed a lot of aspects of human life.

The bitter ending represents the harsh reality of our lives. Even Tsukasa was hoping for a miracle, an alternative to Isla's ending but in the end only acceptance healed the wounds of their prematurely ended relationship.

If people realise that one of the deep messages that this somewhat light hearted portrays is that miracles and hopes will not always be answered. So when the time comes and all is lost, there is always time to start again as shown by the time skip.

Whether or not it is Isla's Giftia that Tsukasa is paired up with at the end (if it is then it is quite cruel) it just shows that he has moved on and accepted that Isla is no more.

In my opinion, this show does have a strong message that many light hearted shows do not dare to cross. There is no surprise element which again does not seem to on of the creator's intention. I would have preferred a more melodramatic scene that touches our hearts. However, the pair were strong and we don't need a pair of melodramatic characters to understand their pain; their strength through this struggle was hard enough to watch as the end approached.

Overall, Plastic Memories is a strong 7/10 in my opinion.

That was a really nice anime. I wished a miracle to happen but it didn't because it will mostly like to ruin the show. I think it is Isla at the end but I am not sure, tbh they should have put the ring of isla. This show made me cry T_T
