Do you avoid this genres?
| I was wondering how do fellow MAL users pick their anime. I personally try to avoid Shoujo (Male) as I find it not appealing to my interests. |

| I don't tend to watch much of either. I will watch some of each, sometimes not knowing that it was shoujo/shounen. Shounen are often boring battle anime and shoujo are often boring romance anime, but there are good anime that are geared towards each of them. I won't avoid an anime just because of who it was intended for. |

| I used to avoid shoujo since some I had come across were horrible, bit now I give them an equal chance. Shonen is still my favourite though. |

| I don't avoid anything based on demographic because they can be a pretty poor indicator of content. I suppose I'm not super keen on battle shounen but that's about it. |

| I don't seek out anime adapted from shoujo manga but I'm not against watching them if they are interesting. I found Lovely Complex, Sordemo Sekai wa Utsukushii and Petshop of Horrors enjoyable and they are all shoujo anime. |

| I don't care about the demographics. If it's just a shitty high school romance without many redeeming qualities, regardless of whether it's shoujo or shounen, I'll get tired of it real quick though. |

| Yes. Especially if paired with "harem" and "ecchi". I still watch many regardless but I don't go out to look for them. In manga, I almost always just read shoujo/joseis nowadays because of how hard it is to stomach through any shounen series other than the good ones. |

| I've never rated a Shoujo higher than 6/10. Few times I do watch Shoujos is when people keep talking about them like Lovely Complex and Akatsuki no Yona. |

| Meh, not really. If I avoid a shoujo it's not because it's a shoujo, it's because of the art style, genre, etc. Some of my favorite anime are aimed towards women. I think it's stupid just to avoid an anime for that reason, the demographic does not decide the content. |

| The only thing I avoid is typical Harem/Ecchi LN trash that anime studios insists on adapting every single season. Its all the same "This is the only guy in the universe that can use a power that only women can use" "Guy sees his lady neighbor naked when he walks in" "Guy goes to a magical school and meets his childhood friend again" "blah blah blah" |

| I don't avoid shows because of their target demographic. I only avoid shows if I think they look shit. Although I do end up instinctively avoiding those generic fantasy harem shows you see in just about every season on the grounds that they all look like garbage to me. I mean, if a whole genre is so terrible that High School DxD is widely considered as good as it gets then why bother? Even I'm not that masochistic. |
