| OK, Yes, America has an issue with people, not everybody, but certain people who view people with much darker skin than them in a negative light. Not just those of African descent either. We still have people who look at people from the Middle East who live in our country and all that enters their mind is "terrorist." all they say about them involves terrorism in some way. The rest of us rightfully want this bigotry to end , and what is the solution people put forth? They all say what can be summed up as "We need to end racism!" Noble idea, but tell me, in all honesty, how do you exactly plan on doing this? How do you plan on stopping people from making these kinds of judgments of other people? Are you God? Will you enter the mind of every individual and stop every prejudice thought that enters people's heads? My point is there is no way to "fix" the "racism problem in America". Please understand this is not an "American problem".This is a problem that shows it's ugly face no matter what country you go to in the world, in some way shape or form. Because the root of all racism, bigotry, prejudice , and all other forms of quick judgement simply come from a trait all humans have and use. It's name is Observation. Observation is looking at something, recalling things you have seen with similar traits and being able to have an idea of what you are looking at is. For example we see a shiny red semi lumpy hard thing with a green stem and based on past experiences know it is an apple. If we did not have /use Observations and draw conclusions based on those observations we would be in a world filled with things we knew nothing about and would have no hope of piecing together what it was based on past experiences and no idea how to react to those things. We would have the minds of clueless (but adorable) babies for our whole lives Humans observe the people around them and pick up on the traits they can see of said person, and then relate this observation to observations they made in the past of people who looked similar and place those "assumptions on these people. We then have the free will to decide whether we want to believe these assumptions or throw them away. Some people choose to keep these assumptions in their mind as truth and look down on the people they link these assumptions to. While others will get to know these people, ignoring the assumptions their mind comes up with and learn this person is indeed far more complex than those initial stereotypes had them believing. I have first hand experience with this. In elementary and middle school, people saw me and saw Dora The Explorer,a kid with something wrong with her because her right eye dances around a lot, with a messy Afro and a hearing aid.Yeah, there was definitely something wrong with me internally because the shit I went through in my past left me looking a bit different on the outside. However, during this time and in high school the few people who were willing to get to know me found out that I was indeed an awesome person and we had lots of fun together. My point is this: it's literally human nature to make observations and quick conclusions about what we see around us. Some people will leave it at this and hold a sad hatred toward a person because of this stereotype. You can't make them stop by just shoving messages of peace and love down their throats. You can't change the way they think. Only they can by their own decision. We can however be role models by stepping beyond these stereotypes we create in our own day to day lives and learn to be open and accepting in our minds and hearts to all of God's beautiful unique human beings and pray everyone else will one day choose in their hearts to do the same. Thoughts? |

It is impossible to solve racism as everyone has different views since some people beleive these "people" are stealing jobs and causing the economy to decline. If humans have robot minds then yes. An example there is Yin(good) and Yang(evil). There will never be without either one. |

The guy dismissed OP's claim because he made a statement using "God", so Congress was asking if Man-Eating-Ghoul would also dismiss Newton's claims simply because they had statements about "God" as well. It has nothing to do with whether OP's statements are right or not, but the proper attitude to be used in dismissing them. |

| Racial discrimination is not as much of a problem as 'class discrimination' in the US. It's just most of the lower class is made up by PoCs. That being said there is still racism in the US, ever heard of this organization called; The Ku Klux Klan. I find race is just something that the media throws out to the idiots to direct their attention away from the real problems of America's inner workings. But then again that's just my opinion... |

| "Human nature" is such a pathetic excuse to stop trying to solve problems or improve as a society, and it always has been. What if someone made this argument in the 1960's, or back when slavery still existed, or under the Third Reich? What if people said the same thing about poverty, or sexism, or disease? That they'll never be completely eliminated because of human nature, so why bother trying? Even if racism will never entirely vanish, doesn't means that we shouldn't attempt to reduce it as much as possible and create an equal and fair society. I hope it also goes without saying that there is indeed still a racism problem in America; anyone who thinks otherwise is sheltered and delusional. |

| Hey guys, iI'm truly sorry. for one thing, the title of this thread which Ichanged really is BS. It was stupid choice, should have definitely picked something else because that title is what has rightfully pissed so many people off. We have a Racism issue in America, I am not naive enough to claim we do not. I just thought that there was more to the issues we face than just racism, but with all of the cop shootings of black people, that is what many people soley focused on. I can't even give a comprehensive reason for why I chose this that title. I am really sorry for that. I know you guys may still be mad at me despite my apologies, still I offer them, do whatever you want with them. As for the post itself : There is no denying that humanity has the tendency to judge, but I never said that was an excuse to not try to improve. i was saying that while we can't stop our tendencies to judge, we can choose to look beyond these judgments and look at an individual's character to understand who they are. I can't apologize enough for any feathers I have ruffled though, I feel really bad. I do. I feel incredibly stupid and humbled right now. |

| More white on black violent crime (compared to black on white violent crime) is classified as hate crime, because the people recording crime statistics are racist against blacks. They don't even give blacks the respect to assume that most of their crime is hateful because they think of blacks as too stupid to be capable of real hate. To them all black 'hate crime' is really just petty crime motivated by sloth and stupidity. FGAU1912 said: there ae more white racists fact How would you even find out such a thing? What definition of racist are we even using? If we're using the definition of racism where racism against whites doesn't count as racism, then of fucking course there are more white racists; it's also a totally meaningless statement. |

| Yes, racism is inevitable, but it does not mean we should sit idle. Part of it is education. Education also falls into environment. You assume observation is rooted in human nature, but is it really? Observation involves the environment, and calls upon more than just nature, but also how we interact with this environment. Take a person from a town with many ethnicities, a pretty decent education, and a society accepting of people. Now, take a place where the society is tightly knit, lacks education, and few ethnicities/races. Obviously, their environments will affect them. Now, yes, there may be a few who diverge from the "normal", but you need that or there will be no change. To sit idle and just let things go does nothing. Change often involves a catalyst of some sort. A spark. It needs ignition to start that flame. For someone to begin prying that door open. We sit on our hands and expect things to change? The results will be nothing. There is no power behind the action. YES! Racism will not end. We can teach acceptance. We can prove there is not always truly a difference between us besides a simple, superficial aspect. Your idea of fighting is corrupted by the thought of the simple push and shove, the oppress and be oppressed, the demand over negotiate. Open kindness is not within everyone grasps. Sometimes they do have to FIGHT for it to come. Just like any struggle, a battle must be fought to overcome it. Not physically, but sometimes it has to be mentally. Excuse me for any mistakes written here. It is not easy to type a coherent response on a phone... |

| Good post. Good logos. http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1396503 <- this link that guy posted doesnt work OP, your biggest mistake isn't anything within the post itself but sharing it on MAL. I believe this point has already proved itself. Second, methinks, that anyone who would be persuaded (by something written) already believes so to begin with. I don't agree with 'solve racism by stepping beyond our own stereotypes'. First, if one makes a conscious effort to present themselves a certain way to society, then they're not really presenting themselves at all. Second is that I don't believe racism can be solved through methods as direct as this. To the rest: racism is bad in the states. Just face it. It doesn't mean that the whites are racist. It just means that racial tensions are high. The media is particularly to blame. If there's news involving two parties, one of which is getting the short end of the stick, you bet they're gonna mention the race. I've said that racism is bad in the states. But I did not say that it is amongst the most pressing issues there. The biggest problem in the US I'd say is pride in tradition. Because people become so enamored with it that they become blind to many of the country's faults. Honestly, I can't say that I'm confident that the states will make the next century. Its problems isn't something that a good president can solve. |
