Or just 4k in general.

Do you lot like gaming in 4k or do not mind sticking to 1080p?
Do you think its worth it?

Me personally. I'm fine with 1080p. Don't see a reason on upgrading. Yh its clearer and nicer but I just don't see a point in spending a shit load of money just to play on a higher resolution. 1080p is clear enough imo.

Though thats just me.

4k won't be a thing in console gaming for a decade or two despite TVs going down in price, it's too expensive and the world isn't entirely ready for the internet speed requirements yet. It's unfeasible to stream 4k on netflix for most people.

I'm quite fine with 480i, so I don't see the need for 4k, especially when it comes to games.

It will be okay in the next 5 to 8 years.

I could game 4k on my computer, I just don't see the point atm. Currently 4k isn't worth it. However 1080p is freaking cheap now. So if you don't have a 1080p display go get one. Its a good time to buy.

I personally think, if a game is entertaining, I don't need to see every single hair there is on a character's head. I play in 1280 x 720 and I'm fine with it.

The problem is that a lot of high-end games at ultra settings don't even run properly at 60/120FPS, 1080P on a decent, above average gaming PC. Unless you have a super PC, or don't mind not playing at ultra, it's probably not worth going 4K at the moment.

What's the point in cramming so much detail into a desktop monitor? 1080p is good enough for me.

Personally I won't go back to 1080p from 4k, eye-candy looks damn nice. But Its expensive as hell and I'm becoming vram limited in a few games now. Just something once you try it and how epic it looks, going back to 1080p is meh. Its not required to enjoy games tho, just enhances the experience

Why is it that everybody only compares 1080p to 4K
There are a lot of options in between as well. 2K 2.5K 3K 3.5K and everything in between those as well.
All that the 1080p or 4K means is the resolution of the screen.
Just get a monitor with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 or something. Better than 1080p but not nearly as expensive as 4K monitors.

Because 1080p is the standard atm. If i was gonna recommend someone a monitor it'd be a 2560 korean ips, right now best value.

You agree with what others have said about 1080p being the standard and yet you would still recommend a 2.5K monitor. Where is the logic in that?

I don't see how you can't see a difference. With video games I can't understand but movies/Tv shows and especially animes I can understand

Animes look awesome at 720p but when it comes to Blu-Ray. It can be a mixed bag. Some just look insane but the rest just looks exactly the same.

if its TV rips then screw 1080p.

Movies for the most part look exactly the same. Only a small handful have TRUE difference.

Same goes for TV sahows

Video games however their is a CLEAR difference. Maybe its your TV. Some HD tv's you can't see a freaking difference between em, some are worse and SD content tends to look like a slightly burrier version of 720p.

My family rreplace our old BUSH HDTV with a new sony one and the diffeences are so clear now. Hd LOOKS HD.

Yes. Theirs no need to say "Animes" when "Anime" is pretty much the same meaning since in this conversation, I'm not just talking about 1 specific anime but multiple series.

Yea I know I'm nitpicking. And that's not what I meant. Doesn't matter if you are talking about multiple anime series or just one anime. It's still one anime and multiple anime. In every plural form its anime without the 's'

4K is the future. It's a necessary step not for desktop gaming, but for VR. By the time VR can render flawlessly at 4K with superb details, it will truly be a new era of gaming.

It's also something that you don't go back from. Sure, it's easy to sit at 1080p and think 4K is not a big deal, but once you go 4K you will not be able to go back. For example, I played on 1080p for many years, then a couple years a go I upgraded to 1440p, now I find 1080p intolerably blurry for gaming.

The same will happen with the leap to 4K, where the difference is even greater.

General standard and my standard are different things, i own a 4k monitor. Right now 1080p is what most people play at. 2.5k is better and not really expensive. Why do I not have a 2.5k and have 4k instead? Cause I wanted to play in 4k, dumb reason but nevertheless no regrets.

VR is a gimmick/fad just like smartwatches and curved televisions (lol).

I've played at 1080p, 1440p, and 1600p. I also went through a demo at a store that had a 4k setup. My gpu can also handle 4k display. Here is the thing 4k isn't worth it at the moment, and won't be for the next 5 years or so. I have two displays available to me. One is 1600p and one is 1080p. The 1600p is a bit better but the 1080p still looks just fine. I still watch t.v. on a tube television on occasion. It doesn't stop me from enjoying the shows. 1080p isn't blurry and will never be blurry for gaming, and as I've said before I've used various different displays at different resolutions.

You will always see the difference if you look closely enough. All that the resolutions mean is that how big can the image get with it still being top quality. If you have 20 inch screen with 4K and 8K then the difference is pretty much impossible to detect. But on a 250 inch screen you can even tell the difference between 8K and 16K.

It can be true 4K
For some reason a lot of people buy 16:9 resolution so the fake 4K (2160 x 3840)
But you can just buy a screen with a slightly different aspect ratio and get a screen with true 4K (2160 x 4096)

No, they're not the same:

QFHD (Quad Full High Definition) = 3840 x 2160
(Full) 4K = 4096 x 2304 for 16:9
and (Full) 4K = 4096x2160 for 19:10

I think 4k gaming will be awesome its always nice to see backrounds more detailed while playing adventure games like Uncharted, the last of us and god of war.
But 4k gaming is at its early stages it'll need another 5 years atleast to be standardized as the current gen of consoles only support 1080p. The only other option is building a pc which is impossible unless you have atleast 2000$ to spend.

No reason to bother spending money on 4k gaming, 1080p is pretty solid and good for the time being. Pretty much overkill if anything and not quite worth it, besides the cost for making a computer that could do it would be to damn high.

Yeah that's true. But looking that close at your tv or monitor us really unhealthy for your eyes. On top of that no one buys tv's that large. Most people I know have 50 inch to 60 inch tv's which seems to be the average, and then again people downsize often. In my opinion if you are looking to get a tv that big it already makes more sense to get a projector.

uhhh what

Lemme show you something really small

pretty small right?
but if you had a better dpi, you would be able to see it fine. Let me tell you, the difference between 1080p and 4k is huge. The difference between 4k and 8k is twice the same leap.

(16:9)
1080p: 1920x1080
4K: 3840 × 2160
8K : 7680 x 4320

on a 20" screen your dpi would be insane. Good luck getting a 4k monitor less than 28" and I dunno where to find information on 8k monitor sizes but I highly doubt you'll get one that size either.

Anyway my point is, on a 20" screen you would sure as hell notice the difference between 4K and 8K lol
