| Maybe they find the situation relatable? I've liked some shows and rated them higher than they deserved because I could put myself in the protagonist's shoes. I like anime that I can relate to, it makes me feel like less of the lowly proletariat loser that I am. |

| Oh, why do people like them? Well, sometimes it just works out depending on the anime. It's usually something that's built up to or fits the nature of the show. It could also be the characters themselves seeming like they'd be better off. |

| Actually, oblivious to love situations are quite common in anime, but unrequited love is more of a thing confined in the shoujo genre, and is kind of rare. Unless you mean the losing ship in harem series. |

| I find a lot of them relateable since I've liked someone for a long time without reciprocation. It's used as a device to make a character grow and shine which is really nice. I really like their dedication and will. And yes, y'all should watch H&C. Best show ever. |

They are realistic (some people like this) There's nothing wrong with an unfulfilled love. In fact, it can make the story much deeper. The last thing you want to do is pull out a half-assed good "mutual love" ending or something just for the sake of it. I don't understand why people prefer bad endings where the couple get together to a good ending where they don't get together, but hey, people are different. |

| What blows my mind is how unrequited childhood crushes are treated as serious character/romantic development (aka Sakura from Naruto). She's possibly the only character in the series where I've had to stop and ask "really?" each time she does something related to Sasuke. |

| Variety. There's hordes of "requited" love titles so a few unrequited ones satisfies a niche interest. Also, the harder the resistance the sweeter the reward (or hoped for) reward ie: the girl/guy playing hard to get makes them even more desirable. Which is another reason why archetypes like tsunderes, kuuderes and danderes make a romance more rewarding when the non-dere part is overcome. For instance, Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou: getting a smile or a laugh out of Ritsu becomes a highlight episode and the sense of accomplishment relatively higher. Holding hands or an embrace in such titles become almost like kissing scenes in normal romance titles. |

On the anime's that you have mentioned above, its a big part but thats not all there is to it to the story, try focusing on the other things that the story is trying to show. As for me i like them, it adds up, and is what makes anime better sometimes. |
