| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Well look who's back. The ceremony was cool. Good to see that Xin was promoted to a thousand-man general, although he isn't doing so well with his new found title. Loved Meng Tian face expression after hearing Xin's strategies lol. |

| I know Xin is simple minded but really being that incompetent in forming even the most simple of battle plans it's too much, how is he expecting to become the greatest general like that? He already made a small skirmish war practice when he fought the war between those two villages and he took part in a few big battles along with some small ones. He should have some experience on how warfare is contacted. If he is that useless after those experiences how will he ever improve? Btw i thought when she will appear again she will be a woman and surprise Xin but i guess not enough time passed for that. |

| LOL, Kingdom is not a comedy anime but when it tries it pulls it off so well. The ceremony was fantastic and wth at Xin's strategy, i already miss Qiang Lei but i guess Diao can also get the job done. I'm guessing the remainder of the season will focus on protecting the area they won. Season 3 announcement better come soon. |

| Great episode! I'd missed Zheng so much! Sadly, there still wasn't much of him in this episode anyway, but LOVED his reunion with Xin - so epic yet child-like. Meng Tian has become one my favourite characters, he and Xin are such bros. And it's brilliant to have Diao back since the only other female character just left. The comedy in this one, after god-knows-how-many episodes of the war, was very welcome. Xin's appalling skills (or rather lack of it) as his unit's strategist was, I think, more for comic relief rather than actually establishing him as a poor tactician. In any case, it was hilarious - especially his demonstration to Meng Tian hahah! |

| I think where Xin excels as a general is moral of the people that follow him, a good strategist and his leadership and moral building is a pretty awesome force. Though granted a good general should also be versed in the art of war tactics i think lol I could be wrong though .. i dont know much about military history etc |

| It's a little tragic that Xin is completely incompetent in these matters, but he's young, so there's still time, right? It'll be interesting to see at what level Diao's stratagems are. |

| Looks like Shin got some plot armor.! Lolz. - Really puts it off when you can easily predict that he'll eventually become the greatest general and what not. Well anime rarely contains any plot twists. Didn't expect to see Diao any time soon - I really hate her.. Apart from all that, this episode was indeed very good. 8/10 |

| Refreshing episode, nice to see Xin finally has armor. Xin seems really really terrible in battle tactics and strategies. Lian Po, Wang Qi and all the other Great Generals were geniuses and amazing strategists as well as Generals, so I'm not sure how Xin will reach their levels yet, as his goal is to become the greatest general under the heavens. Though, Xin is still pretty young, so hopefully he also starts learning some tactics so he doesn't constantly have to rely on Lei or Diao. (He somehow has to become a genius if he wants to get to Lian Po or Wang Qi's level) Monad said: Btw i thought when she will appear again she will be a woman and surprise Xin but i guess not enough time passed for that. I really wanted to see this too, since Xin looks a lot older and taller than he was in the first season, but for some reason, Diao still looks slightly the same. Though, I guess she wants to keep her hair short, since woman aren't allowed on the battlefield? |

| LMFAO xin is so freaking dumb I'm glad Diao is back she was going to a strategist school all this time so I'm sure she'll get the unit back on it's feet. But Xin really needs to learn some war tactics this is not One Piece if you're not smart in this war game everybody will get killed and uniting China really will become impossible. Xin is lucky to have friends in high places. Also there are only 5 more episodes of Kingdom 2!! I really hope this gets another season or better yet adapt the whole damn manga!! |

Xenoi said: Wow... the head general Meng Ao lost his arm in battle in the manga, but in the anime he just broke it... The first thing I noticed about the manga was how it has considerably much more gore and violence in it than the anime, which was always odd considering the whole story is revolved around warfare. Also Xin doesn't need armor, he has godmode since he's the main character. |

| Wonderful transitional episode. Laughed my ass off and smiled at the bro moments between Xin and Zheng, and Xin and Meng Tian. Diao returning was done really well, nostalgia everywhere. The guys are gonna freak when they find out she's a girl too. They'll probably accuse Xin of being a player lol. I'm not worried about Xin's shitty strategic mind(Tian's reaction was fucking hilarious) because has the crazy ability to perform when it counts, especially under adversity. With a legit strategist to pave his way over some years he'll start picking up enough to get really compliment his insane leadership and performance qualities. Seravander said: I think that's very possible, it was slightly foreshadowed when he realized how quickly Xin's nerves went away. Boy would that be an intriguing conflict of interest for Meng Tian.Nice to see Xin and Zheng back together for the honors ceremony. | Xin really needs to learn strategy. A great general doesn't even need physical strength. All he needs is a smart brain to defeat the enemy. If Xin only has physical strength and relies strategies on Diao or Qiang Lie later on, I am afraid that he will only become another Lu Bu or Xiang Yu. |

Commanding a village of people is very different from commanding an army of 1000 soldiers. The level of organization and strategy is whole different level. Also, Xin never receive proper education, (did he even went to school at all?) unlike he fellow 300 man generals, who come from noble family of generals and taught in the way of war since very young age. It is already very impressive that Xin made it this far so young and uneducated. However, Xin do need to improve his personal strategic thinking ability if he going to match those Great Generals. Nakama power won't save him in this manga. |

Of course, with experience that'll probably change, until then, he's a rallying figurehead and dominating warrior in the vein of Pang Nuan, at best. Sure, he can be the centre of morale, defeat generals and shift the tide of battle, but he's not a 'true' general, just a warrior. True generals fight on the level of wars and battles, not skirmish by skirmish, and to do that they need at least some understanding of the battlefield; that which Xin still lacks. |

Both generals still require knowledge of tactics and strategies. Even if Duke Hyou (Biao Gong) was an instinctive general, he was still shown sitting in front of a tactics board (I have no idea what it's called. The map thingy with chess-like pieces that represents armies), creating plans and movement for his entire army. If Xin wants to become the Greatest General under the Heavens, he eventually has to learn tactics and strategies of the battlefield. |

Yea, Xin is instinct type of course, but his instinct is seriously tested now with Qiang Lei gone and him running a 1000 man squad independently. However, his instinct suck so much that he can't even beat some no name Wei generals. He definitely can use some strategic help and training at least for now. |

Exactly, no one said he has to be capable of complicated triggy plans at every corner and always pulling the carpet under you feet. BUT he should at least have some decent basic knowledge of war and combat tactics. Even if you are the kind of general that uses his presence and moral boosting attacks you still need some comprehension of the battlefield or else the enemy will just make a fool of you simply by following basic tactics. You can't be a general without at least that much. |

| Ah, about time this happened. Agreed that he doesn't need to be a super strategist, but c'mon, learn some basic war tactics, same with political matters. Xin is a first class idiot. OTL On another note, Xin and Zheng's reunion was very nice! Had to laugh at the ceremony. Xin and Meng. Xin and Diao. Diao looks a bit older! Ah, those kids from season 1 are growing, aren't they? ^^ A short appearance of Meng Yi too. :D |

| Why did they kill Shin off? That is essentially what they did. His character is so vastly different from him in season one that he is a totally different character in season two and far less interesting. He had some wit and intellect and tactical if not strategic skills in season one, but in season two he barely has a brain at all. In season one, his squad had not one but at least 4 strategists in all that regularly contributed to making successful military plans. In season two, everyone that had tactical/strategical skills apparently forgot they were capable of that. Shin proved he had intelligence many times through out season one such as during the first battle as the arrow unit when he took out one of the enemies two main strategists or when General Ou was training him and he conquered the wild lands with mostly with only a handful of old men, women, and children. I do not care for the sad gimmick of totally changing or even ruining an established character and all that he or she is just to make some other lesser character look all that much the better like they probably did in this case to bring back Diao as a super smart strategist by making Shin look absolutely pitiful. Why they lost every fight makes no sense if they were the same unit and people as they were in season one. Season one Shin and his troops would not have lost every fight and would not have struggled to have any strategy at any given time at all. They might not have been sweeping through battles with ease in every case but the strategists they already had were not helpless or worthless imbeciles as they are made out to be for some reason or another in season two. Diao might be a better tactician/strategist than anyone in Shin's unit but they were not totally clueless about tactics and strategies either. I found season two harder and harder to watch given how much dumber Shin and many of the major characters got just to make Diao look better. |
