One of the things I love the most about anime is the music. So I was wondering, who's your favorite anime music composer? Mine is Yasuharu Takanashi because I absolutely love the Fairy Tail soundtrack.

You forgot Yugo Kanno and didn't even put an "other" option on the poll.

Weak.

I don't really know their names, but from the list I would pick the one who did FT's and Naruto's. Second is Bleach's.

And whoever did Hell Girl's (San Kanae being my favorite of the OST collection).

I didn't forget Yugo Kanno, this is the first time I've heard of him. The composers I listed are all ones I know and like.

Yasuharu Takanashi simply because of Fairy Tail's OST. Maybe he was just lucky with it but its a damn beautiful OST.

Yuki Kajiura.
But Joe Hisaishi deserves a mention too for his ability to make Ghibli movies even more lively than they already are.

Damn, this was tough. There are so many great composers listed.

Even though the list is missing some notable composers, such as Amano, choosing between Hisaishi, Kanno, Ooshima, and Hirano is really hard.

Voted for Hirano in the end.

Yuki Kajiura, judging from the anime i've seen so far. MM's OST for example was flawless, especially 'Credens Justitiam' gave me major goodsebumps.

Yoko Kanno, of course. She's just beyond awesome. There's not a genre of music this woman hasn't explores in her anime OST's.

Yoko Kanno: quality and variety.

Joe Hisaishi is also a beast, if you add the stuff he did for Ghibli and his live action stuff (especially those with Kitano), you have many hours of pure awesoness.

Yeah, I can't believe he isn't there. His work in Now and Then, Here and There, Noragami, Mahouka or Battle Tendency are great!

I love the music he's done for Kitano's movies, especially Kids Return. Meet Again is my favorite track by him, I love it. I think I quite liked Doll's soundtrack as well.

Technically they didn't write anything for anime. FLCL just used their songs, which had already been out for quite some time.

Unless they did the soundtrack to some other anime I don't know about.

Yeah, I wouldn't call them anime composers. I guess I was just listing my favourite soundtracks without thinking too much.

YES! Meet again is also my favorite track. The main reason why I even watched Kids Return. I haven't seen but some tracks I've listened from the OST were good. Their collaboration could do wonders, like that amazing sumo scene in Sonatine:

Out of the options above, probably Kanno or Hisaishi. I also like Tenmon who writes the best piano pieces.

Favourite Kanno anime: Sakamichi no Apollon and Zankyou no Terror. Also, favourite song is definitely The Garder of Everything

Personally, I like these two the most:

- Chihayafuru, Soredemo Sekai

- Uchuu Kyoudai

Newcomer:

- Ao Haru Ride, Meganebu! (I prefer Mgnb's more tho)

Wow! I think I'll be watching that movie again soon. In fact, now I feel like watching all of Kitano's movies again; I think I'll be watching as many of his movies as I can over the next week. While I'm at it I should really buy Hana-bi and Kikujiro. The Rain from Kikujiro is such a beautiful track, I don't know how I haven't got the movie yet.
