In your opinion, what anime character was represented by their voice actor better then any other character/voice-actor combo of all time?

I'm talking about a single performance; not someone's entire career.

You may talk about either dub or sub voice actors, or both, if you feel inclined.

PS: Don't just list, discuss!

I absolutely adored Chiwa Saito portrayal of Senjouhara Hitagi in Bakemonogatari.
I do believe that Crispin Freeman as the sarcastic narrator Kyon is a perfect fit.

HanaKana as Hanato Kobato. I mean, her voice + Kobato are the ultimate combination of purity and moe. Not to mention HanaKana was able to capture the sweet, caring, and clumsy traits of Kobato perfectly, which really brought her to life as a character for me. Also Kobato's song is one of the most soothing and ear-pleasing things I've ever heard and lots of feels were felt.

Probably Crispen Freeman as Alucard in the hellsing dub.

Hellsing OVA sucks ass in japanese. Freeman carries the dub so hard. And I pretty much hate dubs.

Edit: Inb4 people saying Fate/Zero has good voice acting because every single male character sounded like a 70 year old chain smoker.

I would say Crispin Freeman as Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate (Being cool, sexy, and barbaric while ripping people's heads off)

Then Satsuki Yukino as both Mion and Shion from Higurashi (doing two voices that go from cute, tomboyish, and polite to absolutely insane at the drop of a hat)

Yeah, Satsuki Yukino in Higurashi is definitely up there. The versatility she showed doing both of the sister's voices is just unparalleled.

Hinata Hakamada is the best character she voiced in anime and absolutely perfect for such an adorable and sexy girl as her.

Tsukiko was a surprise hit to me, who would've knew she could pull off the emotionless girl role well.

She also voiced Pupuru in Sei Madou Monogatari which despite not being an anime, is one of her greatest roles. Her voice keeps you sane and makes you want to go through the difficult dungeons especially after the main story is over and you have to go through a 256 floor dungeon. I definitely want her to have another main character role in a game.

Agreed Steve Blum's voice matches Spike's character perfectly. It's like that role was just meant for him. He also did a magnificent job voicing Makoto Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin.

Dameon Clark did a great job voicing Cell and imo is even better than Wakamoto.

Kazuya Nakai is really, really great voicing Mugen.

Ryo Horikawa was perfect as Vegeta. He really made Vegeta sound condescending and arrogant, his voice is the best at bringing out Vegeta's personality.

Steven Blum sucks.

He isn't a voice "actor".

He just reads his lines in his own voice the way he talks IRL. Thats why every character he voices becomes the exact same character.

Sure he has a cool robot voice, but that doesn't magically make him a good voice actor.

anime: Nakamura as tomoya, he did a fantastic job doing both subtle and more emotionally demanding line delivery, specifically that certain scene in episode 16 of after story, his performance makes that scene even better

sugita as gintoki is just the best comedic line delivery out there.

Steven blum as spike, decade and a half later and that role still stands as one of the best

others: Everyone in Troy baker in last of us, seriously no one can say he had no range from that game onwards, him as the joker also is pretty oh shit worthy, speaking of which

mark hamil as the joker for obvious reasons

nakamura again as hazama in BB, too bad the shitty anime couldnt capture the awesomeness of this character and instead only focused on his crazy terumi side so the crazy moments lose all impact unlike the game

david hayter as snake in mgs 4. That man showed a dedication to that role more than most actors ever would.

A lot of the well recieved english dubbed. The only japanese performance that really stood out for me was in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Reinhard's voice really captures the emotion. You really feel the difference when he's in battle, when he's taking care about political stuff and when he's talking to himself or Kircheis

Mary McGlynn as Major, I could not watch the sub after that.

Same with Marÿke Hendrikse as Revy and Saffron Henderson as Shenhua from black lagoon. These nailed the characters so much that I can't even go to the original lol.

FinallyJouji Nakata as Kirie and Alucard, really good stuff from him for both of those.

Sugita Tomokazu is the perfect match for Gintoki. His voice is just so fitting with the character that at times I feel like Gin was written with his voice in mind.

I also really liked Mamoru as Okabe in Steins gate. His voice is always awesome, but in Steins gate his performance, especially in the emotional scenes, were outstanding. The "mad scientist" laugh was also so good. Oh, this as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqqWG6fHVHs
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

For dubs, Monica Rial as Mina Tepes. She just had the perfect voice for her character, and any other voice would have ruined it, so you can imagine my disappointment when I was curious enough to check out her voice subbed. She had to voice a self indulgent, harsh and at times a haughty queen, but at the same time, a queen that is gentle, kind, and would do anything to protect her people. That isn't easy, not in the slightest.

For subs, Rie Kugimiya as Taiga Aisaka. I just loved this performance. It was Rie, but it wasn't her usual high pitched loli voice like with Louise, Nagi, Shana or Happy. It was very different, although there were hints of that in there. Her voice changed a lot for all the emotions. The awkward moments, the happy moments, the angry moments, the really sad moments, etc. Without getting into spoiler territory, she was pretty damn amazing in the lamp post scene. I mean damn.

Original Japanese

Sayuri as Lady Une of Gundam Wing and Tiara of Shamanic Princess-I mention both of these characters she has played and I'm impressed how versatile she was, such as giving Tiara her girlish charms and the multiple angles of Lady Une's personality; such as her fierce, commanding side to grace and elegance.

Hiroko Kasahara as Naomi Armitage of Armitage III-Most of the roles she has done that I've seen her voice are gentle bishoujo characters like Fuu Hououji of Magic Knight Rayearth and Nanako Misono of Onii-sama e..., her role as Armitage was something I was amazed as she gave a spirited and fiery performance.

Miyuki Ueda as Marie Antoinette of The Rose of Versailles-I love how she evolved the characters' voice over the course of the anime, as she gave Marie a girlish tone in her younger years to using a more mature tone in the latter part of the series.

English Dub

Bryan Cranston as Isamu Alva Dyson of Macross Plus-He brought out a truly badass performance and brought out every bit of the cool qualities of Isamu, such as his smooth-talking of the ladies.

David Kaye as Treize Khushrenada of Gundam Wing-My favorite of his roles, he brought pure elegance and charisma as the character.

Wendee Lee as Faye Valentine of Cowboy Bebop-This is my favorite performance in her numerous roles she has played over the years of her career, what made her performance as Faye stand out for me is that she brought out many of her finest qualities, such as her sarcastic wit and sex appeal.

That was my thought too after reading.

Tough choice though, on the discussion topic. It would honestly be a battle between Steve Blum, Ai Kayano and Chiwa Saito. They voice my top 3 characters, respectively. Spike Spiegiel is the character that got me into watching dubs over subs, when I was first starting to watch anime. An exceptional character that was lucky to have such a wonderful voice attached. Mashiro Shiina's voice on the other hand is mellow, low in tone, and overall extremely cute. Most of the female leads I see in romance shows do not have a voice like hers. Ai Kayano has voiced a few other characters that I have recently noticed, but they sound different enough from Shiina thankfully.

Chiwa Saito voiced Hitagi Senjougahara from Monogatari & all related series. As a tsundere, she has a exquisite, natural sounding voice. Not filled wirth high pitched screaming or any other annoying trait like that. Even when she is angry, her tone of voice is calm. During my Monogatari journey, that really stood out to me.
