| it is amazing after episode 4. in my opinion it is in the top 5 anime of 2013 and i am really sad that people just wrote it off without giving it a chance because of how the opening few episodes had manservice in them. i mean the later episodes have almost no manservice (minus the unavoidable shirtlessness when they are swimming) heck kyoto ani even went out of their way to tone it down at times i mean their swimsuits by the end of the show were pretty much half a wetsuit |

| I liked it. At first, I watched it so I could criticize it but then I genuinely enjoyed it after the drama kicked in. I got these weird Chihayafuru vibes off of it (which not many shows can do to me). Kyoani's artwork makes it really shine and the voice acting was great. |

I think what's funny is that the manservice in Free! is just something normal guys do/see anyway. | To start off, the animation is awesome. I can't honestly think of another anime with so much clarity when it came to water, but then again, I haven't watched a lot of animes so far. The story wasn't bad. Now really, although some may say it is plain and stupid, well, it's ment to be really shallow. There are still some conflicts and some turnovers, but you can't really say you don't see right through it. However, since it is more of a lighthearted, Saturday-afternoon kind of anime, that hasn't really bothered me. Of course, I do expect better from a second season, but I bet that, once again, the main focus will be the art. Not so much of a disappointment, though. |

| It's good. Not really much else to say. Generic sports story with a lot of charm; generic, but likeable characters; crisp animation (best KyoAni animation job so far? I think so.) and good enough VAs. It's predictable, and there's not enough about the sport itself thus far to make me interested in season 2. Getting all the back-story out of the way to focus on the future is a move I understand but do not support. I might give season two a shot in the future, but for now I'm content with having watched season one, which was about what I expected: Good. 7/10. |

| At first, when I first saw it, I didn't think I would like it. But when I actually took time to watch one episode, I got addicted. I love the drama in it. And for those who don't like manservice, it stops after a couple of episodes and then it's nearly manservice free ( see what I did there? xD ). At first I thought it would be yaoi too! But when I watched it was probably one of the best animes I have seen. Nothings really hyper-sexual except for the swimmers being half-naked in the water when swimming. I don't even know if that is considered sexual. |
