Oh boy, Yura is fighting again but on a different side now. Hey, at least she has some nice moves I guess. I still miss the Yura that likes to have fun and make friends though...as opposing to solely win.

Ah I miss old Yura...

Rin's team is pretty tough not that I'm surprised.

Yura joined the enemy’s team, and that eventually found out by Kayano-san’s character’s sister’s team. They lost the first time when Yura being medic/defense. That elegant girl wanting her to be back, but Yura rejected her. Yura just thinks about winning and not think about the team (“showing off”) whenever someone’s hurt. The enemy girl got her out of the team. Wow, seems so dark next ep.

Well damn Yura, you should've seen this coming from a mile away.

Looks like Sonora has something planned for Yura; hopefully things hurry up and settle back to the way they should be.

This episode was extremely painful to watch, how will Yura ever redeem herself.
There needs to be a flashback to her childhood showing why she gets so obsessed with winning and proving herself useful.

Yura just took a U-Turn, the moment she joined the C3 Club, she was reaching the peak. The moment she fought Rin, she took the plumment. Hard to imagine her turning back up again. Still, she has some nice moves, but at the same time kind of messed up. In truth, I can kind of see myself landing up in Yura's shoes in the future.

Yura's character is so well done, very believable. As heartbreaking as it is to watch, it's awesome at the same time.

Looks like Yura will really have hit rock bottom in the next episode, with her in a game arcade, desperate to win. If this weren't the kind of show it is, she would be drunk to escape her sorrow too, that's how low she is now :(

But it sounds like Sonora is going to bring Yura as her partner in the US games, like Rin used to be, this should be her ticket out of the hole she's in.

As dark as the last episode and this one were for Yura, there's a light visible at the end now, even though she doesn't know it yet.

Yura is a really interesting character for me, she just seems like a real person to me; pushing herself on to others just so she can be noticed, that's the reason why she wants to win, and I don't blame her for that (I can relate in some ways more or less). But to see her breakdown like that made me sad, I hope that whatever Sono has in store for her, I hope that it helps to bring Yura back up to how she used to be.

LOL Yura told Rento point-blank. The game scene was intense. Yura seems talented.

It was unexpectedly interesting. Glad the show didn't turn out a cliche often seen in Japanese anime human-interaction-wise. That said, Rin's decision was disappointing. Just hope the series will not end up a predictable cliche.

I love that song, but yeah, it's odd right after some of the endings we've had lately. This episode was fine, it ended on a positive note, but 5, 8, and 9 were really jarring!

Anybody else got Eva vibes from the final parts of the episode? She was even angsting on a train, while wearing clothes reminiscent of Shinji! Now I'm no longer surprised that Gainax picked this manga for adaptation (even if that bit wasn't in the original, it was really fitting).

Fans in Japan are saying that one thought Yura could not sink lower, in the next episode she actually sinks lower, and this has been what happens in the last 3-4 episodes. By now, quite a number of fans could only give disdainful remarks for this protagonist character - Yuck!
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Yura, I...

Well, whatever the fans in Japan say, I'm honestly glad the series took this route. Most of the first half of the show felt like a poorly made cash-in on GuP's success and it was pretty boring, but now it's honestly really interesting. Even if Yura is a bit of a bitch. And by a bit of a bitch I mean a huge bitch.

3rd impact where? (glad im not the only one who thought that o.O)

regarding the ep, i guess it did show that Rin (Best girl) and Sono (best girl but not quite) are actually quite similar indeed, similar beyond the 'same master' bit of the prev ep.

and i ended waiting for Rin to bitchslap Yura, goddammit she was BEGGING for it.

i think the military suits yura better cuz she takes this business way too serious and just behaves like a rogue merc cuz only results are what matters, ... i laughed my ass ass when she was practicing her shots blindfolded and straining her body like she does while in contrast the other club members were having tea&cake k-on style, felt like a homage to light hearted slice of life club activity anime

I'm still not exactly sure what's up with Rin. So far she has been set up as someone who only cares about victory, and for such purposes Yura was basically massacring whole teams all by herself. Why does Rin suddenly care about teamwork and stuff? She enlisted a girl who went so far as to cheat to win, what exactly was she hoping for?

Rento is, without a doubt the hero of this show, the only one to actually do some COMMUNICATION.

There are so many possible endings, like a bad ending with Yura committing suicide, assembling a team of exceptional players and crushing both Stella and Meise, Rento somehow saving her from falling completely to the dark side...Just please Gainax, anything but the clichéd Yura realizes fun is the most important and returns to Stella ending.

5/5, great episode.

I know this is Moe Airsooft, but from what I've seen the show has more potential than it lets on.

To be perfectly honest: I’m tired of nice ending. Yura should go rouge and solo. That would make this series memorable. If Yura already tops everyone then should she practice more she’d plain rape airsoft as a whole. Yura becoming like this only helps the plot. Could even lead up to Yura defeating Sono, maybe even a death. I just wish all these types of anime wouldn’t go in the same direction all the time. Come on, surprise me for once. Still, an enjoyable episode. I support Elite Yura.

Even hell has no place for Yura…

While Yura have great individual ability now, she has a very high risk of ignoring order for her own decision.
If Rin's team is her weapon to win, would she want a loose trigger like Yura in it ?

I'm still on team Yura. What she's going through is a somewhat of an identity crisis. It's funny - she has traits that would seem almost admirable in a working adult such as initiative and pushing herself as hard as she can. However, in the world of moe airsoft, there seems to be no place for personal gains. I hope when the resolution comes, it isn't simply the power of friendship/team work to help Yura overcome her issues, but something more grown-up and resolute.

Never before have I seen an adaptation get butchered like this. Not even Hellsing or Bokurano come close to it, atleast those stayed in the same genre.

Except for Rento, none of the characters are even like-able at this point.

Yura has become one of my favourite characters of the season, not because she's fun or likeable, but because of how interesting she is. What Rin said to her at the end totally fits and she knows it, so now she suffers.

Right now she's totally unlikeable but relatable and real. I never expected this from a series that started out as a "cute girls shooting cute girls" show.

but episode 9 with the darth yura /spec ops: The C3-bu
and this thoroughly gainaxed near eva-ification of episode 10 has actually been really bloody enjoyable to watch.

these last 2 episodes have had no right to be this good. yet somehow gainax made it work.

agreed with other people in this thread though. rin was just being a bitch, objectively (statistically) speaking. yura was by far the best player on team mesei.
no reason to drop her. and weve been lead to believe that rin respected ep 8 yura for going so far as to cheat and force her methods upon C3 in absence of sonora, yet she tells yura to leave for the same reason? and the explanation she gave was bullshit.

I think she just totally forgotten the very reason why she join this kind of games, she's now aiming for something else that's okay but even that, she totally forgotten her real purpose of why she's doing it as well and that what mess her up.

Edited:

I mean I know it was a game but she's willing to sacrifice herself to win she turn out to be not just a winning obsesses person but a very risky person.

If it's a real war having a risky soldiers will bring more casualties to you than your enemy, probably a lot will die (including the casualties in your side) they can be useful in battles of do or die, they can be the so called heroes, but they also can cost you the whole war. I understand why Rin do and said that (even she herself is a winning obsess person she's a soldier) you don't want a soldier who doesn't even value their life. In army you can't be a soldier if you don't value life.

Many people talk about the show being gainax'ed or eva-ified but to be honest I don't buy such studio determinism idea. The Gainax now is totally different from the Gainax that made Eva or those shows that some people here remember. The director has only left college less than 3 years ago and most of the screenplay writers are similarly new to the industry. So I am not sure how much of the classic Gainax-ness are running among the staff..

Anotherthing that particularly alarms fans in Japan is the show does not have a person who is responsible for Series Composition. This means a bunch of people split up the series and wrote the screenplay for the episode himself with no dedicated person to guide or supervise the flow and integrity of the story. The issue showed up in particular in the very weird supernatural ep.4 (the guy who wrote this apparently also writes the final episode - so just be prepared).
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I seriously can't see what you have against Yura.
I think her character is quite realist and I like the development she gets.

Most fan of the manga are whining because they cannot help but compare the anime and manga but as a stand alone, this is much better than half the show actually airing imo.

I did not read the manga but I find the story to be lacking in fun, and indeed if we compare the first half with the second half there is even a serious lack of balance between humor and drama. Too much of humor in the first half and too much of dark drama in the second. And we are not even talking about the odd episode that is just pure weirdness (supernatural, anybody?).

Yura has hit rock bottom.
I wonder what Sonora will do about it.

If you think ep.4 is what you'd call a "Gainax episode" then perhaps the ending would be a "Gainax ending" but as I said I don't really buy Gainax style as fans understand it from its older works has much to do with what we are seeing the show turning into.

Pretty much indecisive on how am I going to rate this episode rather a 3/5 or a 4/5, but I'll give this a 4/5. My only problem is that Yura still arrogant to win the match even though it's just a game. I'm still hoping that her character change in the last two episodes.

I was kind of sad that she was was kick out from Rin's team, even though she trained hard enough to impress Rin.

She is a horrible person, especially when her teammate got legit injured and Yura goes "she didn't call for a medic".......WHAT A BITCH. Rin showing more leadership in two minutes than Sonora has shown the entire series. Putting Yura in her place instead of just glaring daggers.I'll jump on the Bad End wagon, even though it probably won't happen

I thought last week both Yura and Rin where obsessed but not i think just Yura is obsessed.
Rin might want to win but she still takes her surroundings into account most importunely her team members and other players on the field.
Yura on the other hand only cares for winning till the point where she is ignoring others completely, her way of thinking has become a tunnel vision only to win.
She was so obsessed that she was even endangering her own health, her hands where even bleeding during training and Rento pointed out she had become thinner which suggests malnutrition.
Other points that where obsessive was when she didn't want to be a medic and refused to give a hand after the game, it also seems like she didn't make a effort to talk to the rest of the team judging how the girls looked at her.

What stood out in the past episodes is Sonora's behaviour she is the leader of the Stella club however she did nothing when Yura was heading in the wrong direction.
She didn't give a warning when Yura did something wrong she just looked on, i am not saying she has to be strict but she could have said something for example when they where in the island and Yura took control.
I actually think Sonora is partially responsible for Yura getting obsessed, i also think Rin also contributed a little bit to that.
I think a few words early on by Sonora could have prevented Yura from getting obsessed.

Hello symbv, when will you stop talking about what Japan says about this series? We got it already what Japan's opinion is. If you love their opinion that much, you could pretty much visit 2ch and suck their ass there. I am not against people that dislike the series, no. But it is annoying to refer to Japan in every post and in every thread.

For me, Gainax did a fantastic job so far. I read the manga which unfortunately is way worse and less interesting than the anime. Thus I appreciate the effort Gainax has put to make a mediocre manga good. I really hope many more manga adaptions will go this path.
