| Pretty average first episode but I liked the premise. Makes me wonder who will kill who. I need to find a way to play this visual novel. Many of the characters seems pretty generic especially the mc but it's only the first episode, a lot can change especially in a murder mystery setting. |

| This is the most fucked up anime i have seen for a while.. However, one thing is clear.. I want to kill that fucking bear so badly. |

It does feel a bit like a rushed Let's Play like you say. But hell, I'll take seeing Togami baby in motion. |
| The first episode wasn't quite as strong of a start as I hoped it to be, but oh well. The plot sounds interesting and I really like how unique the characters are ( My favorite so far is Celestia ). I'm curious to see who the first killer will be. |

| Hope this isn't as disappointing as Kishi's last video game anime/adaptation Monobear couldn't have said it better where he said he ripped this premise right out from a mystery novel |

| What's with this series? It's like Angel Beats :/ hmmp! I'm starting to hate some of the characters here already... But there's one character that interest me -- Kyouko "Miss Conan" Kirigiri. I might continue finish this series. |

| prob going to be the best anime of the season(excluding rozen maiden) remake for me. Enjoyed the episode a lot hope it continues to improve and doesnt throw out any stupid twists and ruin itself. |

| i haven't played the game but decided to watch this series only because Chiwa Saito is in it, i found this episode was quite good. Kyouko is really interesting and likable, based on the appearance, attitude and personality (and that ??? as her speciality), i'm guessing that she will have quite an important role and won't die soon.. |

| Another survival thriller-esque anime. Seems okay so far. The visuals, particularly the backgrounds in a few scenes look pretty cool. For a moment there, I thought SHAFT is behind this show. The character designs will take a bit getting used to. |

An adaption of a story from one medium to another should at least take advantage of the medium's unique characteristics to provide another layer of interpretation. The anime adaption of Dangan doesn't go far enough in giving a unique interpretation is all he's saying. Now you may not agree, and that's fine. But there's more to the criticism than just being nitpicky. |

| I was really excited when the news about this adaptation was announced to fill my craving for some survivor horrors similar to the likes of Higurashi, Mirai Nikki, Another, and Btooom! But the first episode was a little underwhelming to be honest. I understand the attempt to feature more prominently wacky elements to distinguish the show from traditional horrors. However, doing it to much can play down the sense of danger and that's a big no no for a horror flick. I reckon they purposely played down danger for now in order to shock us with the up-coming deaths. Depending on how well wackiness and horror blend together, only by then, the Pedobear + Doraemon main antagonist, the snazzy environment, and the over-the-top characters can create a unique horror. As for the episode itself, I do find the Monobear character interesting. He has both "light" and "dark" sides which bring about comical interactions. But his design is too asymmetrical to be appealing. Because of that, he looks better from the sides than from the front or back. Regarding the students, the most memorable characters for me are the highschool Scion guy, the mysterious highschool ??? white hair girl, and the highschool fighter. If I have to guess who are certain to die, I would choose the Otaku guy and the Otaku girl. The guy is looking to be built up as sympathetically adorable chubby friend while the girl occupies the role of stereotypical annoying fujoshi. I doubt both will contribute significantly to the story, thus they can be killed for plot advancement. All in all, the anime has great potentials but the first episode lack a strong sense of danger to create any "wow" factor for people anticipating a great horror. I hope this changes in the next episode because I feel right now the show is closer to Highschool of the Death minus the fan-service than Battle Royale. |

| Judging from this ep i am 98.8% sure im dropping this. Why? Took 7 minutes to watch the entire episode. Awfully clishe to those people who have seen all kinds of survival anime and stories :/ (battle royale, hunger games, gantz, btooom..) Also ''typical'' character as main character - let me bet 100 bucks on it that he will use the ability to be ''typical'' to win the game. (iris zero, Mx0..) What i want to say is- if you are not familiar with the setting, you might like it, otherwise, so cliche it is boring D: ps. if it comes out with something ''unique'' i'd gladly accept messages telling me so. ps.ps. why are all ''the animation'' series such disappointments.. (persona 4 made me want to rip my brains out.., Devil survivor wasn't nothing special either..) |

| I'll stick with this because of everyone saying that it's basically Jesus, but I'm still with everyone else saying that the first episode just wasn't very good. The setting seems intriguing enough, but I can't get past the feeling that these characters wont' be characters so much as archetypes. Not to mention the character designs are just disgusting. Seriously, this is an ugly anime. Not ugly in the dark sense, ugly in the "this is not attractive or stylish in any way" sense. But, whatever, I can probably get over it. We'll see. |

I was basically putting off from commenting because i would be repeating what many people have already said but i really want to point out how perfect this comment is. I'm really glad you said this because I feel that a lot of people are misunderstanding what dangan ronpa is really about but to each their own. I feel that the anime is definitely off to a good start. I knew that it was going to go much faster pace but it certainly did escalate more quickly than i expected. I'm looking forward to see how the investigations and trials play out as we go along. As long as the trials aren't completely rushed, then I'm fine with the anime taking out other small details and interactions. I am also curious to see how the free time events will play into this. I am not sure if there will be enough time to really get to know more of the characters and that is a bit worrying as it adds more weight to the story towards the end. The tone of the anime certainly seems a bit less dark and dangerous, for now, so I'm looking forward to see this development. Either way, I'm excited to have something extra to enjoy, as I really love this story. Let's not forget that the voice acting in the game was just brilliant, so being able to hear all of that along with animated characters for 30 minutes is something that really makes me happy. |

Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

| I think they animated the prelude to the series perfectly, I'm just wondering whether they are going to mix up the events of the game to make the series more different such as using the event in the demo as opposed to the final version but I doubt it P.S. To anybody who doesn't yet know the 1st game is finally being officially ported to the west by NIS America (which means its probably got a dub track) on PSV, most likely they will also do the 2nd as well |

Usually because it's pandering to an already large fanbase and doesn't/can't try to do anything unique due to backlash. Most game adaptations work really well as games but turning it into an anime is often a different story. The difference between the mediums is so vast. |

| That is one crazy bear. Liker the basic idea although it defies all reality, not very fan of the character style of artwork. It looks too childish and i don't like childish but i've seen a lot worse. It looks like it's better avoiding forums while watching this cause it will be full of smart asses talking about what is coming and how they supposedly make speculations. |
