Besides the incest, what I find more troubling is that all the girls Kyousuke displayed interest in were 15 years old and under. There's something fundamentally wrong with him even if you take away the fact he seems to be in love with his sister.

If I didn't find her constant kicking them crap outta him and treating him like crap so annoying I probably would've feel much more sorry for Ayase for being so vulnerable and truthful in the end. I still feel bad for her though. =/ I was really anticipating a kick in the end too but was amused at the stealth-kiss. =P

I didn't know this was supposed to be like a dating sim... guess I'll wait till the next episode to see what happens!

How come Kanako wasn't sure Kyousuke was Kirino's brother? I thought she first met him in season 1 when her and Ayase came over to their house and Saori sent the eroge package which led to that incest moment and Kanako said the line "oh, I didn't know you had that kind of relationship with your brother, Kirino"

right? *scratches head*

Also, Kirino noticed a subtle exchange between Kuroneko and Kyousuke at the anime convention and got so jealous she used the fake boyfriend thing but she didn't notice Ayase running up to Kanako with her just as jealous screaming at them?

And Kuroneko seem to be the most perceptive of those things and she didn't object to Kirino requesting Ayase take care of him?

She's an airhead I guess since she forgot about Kyousuke when they met up on that fake date also.

Kanako doesn't have the best memory. Last season she brought up Kirino's book in class, and then couldn't remember the name of it. Also she seems to only remember things that she finds important or that could help her career.

alex_olo said:

They were never introduced by Kirino.

alex_olo said:

Kanako thought the situation funny, but could not have cared less about someone who "looked like he was destined to be middle management".

alex_olo said:

Actually you got the order wrong, she noticed and wasn't particularly jealous, instead she wanted to go she the Meruru performance where she ran into the "friend". It was Kyousuke who first got jealous, demanding to know it that was her "boyfriend", even challenging here when she came home. She came up with the "boyfriend" ruse after Kyousuke said she couldn't have a boyfriend, but then started flirting with Kuroneko.

alex_olo said:
but she didn't notice Ayase running up to Kanako with her just as jealous screaming at them?
1) She was sort of busy herself at that moment, 2) since Kirino thought Ayase hated Kyousuke, she probably equated it with Ayase wanting to protect Kanako, rather than Ayase being jealous.

And Kuroneko seem to be the most perceptive of those things and she didn't object to Kirino requesting Ayase take care of him?Kuroneko would have been in a very strange position to bring that up, badmouthing Kirino's other best friend? It would have made Kuroneko look jealous and petty.Sometimes letting things play out is the wisest option, Kirino picked Ayase, Kuroneko knows what Kyousuke is thinking, so it would have been better to respect Kirino's decision and support her when the time came.

Gonna go the sister ending eh. Nice nice. Gonna have to do instead than harem ending, but nothing stops me from making delusions in my head about harems ahahaha

Geezus, all dat Ayase in the OP kind of foreshadows what will happen in the episode...

Haha, Ayase's plastic fish eyes when she saw Saori not in costume.

What a ridiculously, unbelievable situation. Everyone of them just wants to cook for Kyousuke and it turns into a cat fight. And then Ayase gets REALLY into it, dafuq.

So that's how they planned to finish volume 10; completely skipping over Sayaka's blog and her little incident before the mock exam.

Wow, looks like they crammed some stuff from volume 12 to flesh out the Ayase confession. That was pretty good and I'm going to miss Ayase's run in the show.

Next episode's title is a...what. Did Kirino say that?!

Kyousuke is 18 years old .
Manami is 18, too
Ruri Gokou (Kuroneko) is 16 years old
Ayase Aragaki is 15 years old
Kanako is 15 years old
Kirino Kousaka is 15 years old.

I do not see your problem . The age difference is not more then 3 years in the case of the last three. That is just normal. Kanako looks very young ofcourse, but she is in the same class as Kirino and Ayase, so that means she is also 15 years old.

Huh, I thought Kuroneko was 15 too. Anyway, that's why I pointed out interest. He wasn't interested in Manami at all, as far as I can tell. The primary candidates, or at least the ones I detected some attraction towards on his part, were Gokou, Ayase and Kirino and the latter two are junior high students.

Personally, I don't think it's particularly normal for a senior in high school to be at least somewhat attracted to two 8th graders.

Just to confirm you are saying that it isn't normal for a senior to be interested in 2 8th graders. Correct me if you meant the opposite.

In general I would agree with you, but you have to admit Kirino and Ayase aren't exactly "normal" for their age. Both are successful models and very mature for their age.

Kuroneko is a year older, she entered 10th grade. She is at least a year older than Kirino.

Also, I think both are 9th graders now. In Japan high school and middle school are both 3 years. Kirino I believe is also about to graduate, we just don't get the cram hell plot because she is already a top prefecture student, top athlete, and top talent. Any exclusive private high school would gladly enroll her on a scholarship without needing to take a test.

They aren't normal, that much I can agree with. I'd say Ayase is very mature for her age, but Kirino seems to act like a 15 year old even if her demeanor is sometimes aloof. Gokou's age is fine.

I was assuming Kirino and Ayase were still in middle school because their uniforms are the same ones from the first season. I understand it makes for good television, I just find it slightly creepy. He's not as bad as Araragi though, that's for sure.

From all accounts, Kirino actually is more mature than Ayase, we just don't see this because we only see her in her otaku/brocon mode. Both Kanako and Ayase have said that they look up to Kirino as the responsible one. Kirino was the one who saved up her money to go train in the US, when she came back she made sure to properly apologize to everyone and re-establish herself on her own (much to her Father's regret). I made this point last season on the "kirino hater" thread, but personal taste in looks aside, Kirino is by far the best girl in this series: beautiful, very smart (top in prefecture), athletic (nearly world class talent), creative (published novelist), loyal and supportive to her friends (Kuroneko, Kanako, and Ayase all agree on this), mature, etc. She only seems so bad because she has one flaw that is the basis for this show.

Right, Kyousuke is in Grade 12 (age 18) and Kirino, Ayase and Kanako are in Grade 9
and are all age 15. Kuroneko is 16. Manami is 18. I think that Sena is 16 as well.

Is there something messed up about Kyousuke being interested in all of these
younger girls while showing no interest at all in his childhood friend Manami?

In MY junior high school and senior high school, a long time ago, I never heard of any
case where there was such a large age difference in a romantic relationship. There was
no rule against it, but people just didn't do it. To my recollection, people usually hooked
up with other people their own age.

Interestingly, my senior high school (grade 11 and grade 12) had one girl who was
13 years old. She was some kind of genius and she had skipped multiple grades. So
it was precisely like the situation of Chiyo-chan in Azumanga Daioh.

Since MAL is international, I am interested to hear about what goes on in other parts
of the world. Do any of you live in countries where an 18-year-old would get
romantically involved with a 15-year-old? Just dating, I mean.

- - - - - - -

I have watched Oreimo 1 and Oreimo 2 multiple times and I just don't see any
indication that there is some kind of sexual attraction going on. The "Westermarck
effect" is a very strong repelling force between siblings who grew up together.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westermarck_effect

Likewise, the Westermarck effect basically explains why childhood friends often
don't have a desire to have their friendship turn into marriages.

I still remember when Ruri broke up with Kyousuke. Anyone else? no? Yeah, didn't think so. I might as well jump on the Ayase bandwagon too, everyone else did LOL. Now, don't lie, just admit that you hopped on that bandwagon. By the way, to all light novel readers, i was kinda disappointed to see volume 9 and 10 trimmed down so much. I was looking forward to Kyousuke's and Kouhei's "my little sister is cuter argument" and Kirino's and Sena's "my older brother has the bigger sister complex."

1) I believe I recall seeing a few comments blaming Kyousuke on that...
2) Departing the Ruri bandwagon to Ayase bandwagon? I definitely see a few of those. lol.

"Goodbye, Onii-san. I hate you with all my heart."

And so Kyousuke's harem assembled in one place for the very first time...

Lol at Ayase's reaction to seeing the actual Saori. Oh my god, so much chaos ensued when all these girls gathered together for the first time. The shuraba was through the roof! We get to see who really calls the shots here though: Kirino speaks up quieting everyone down; establishing the pecking order among the six girls in Kyousuke's life assembled that day in front of his flat.

Can't say I didn't see Ayase's confession coming. Her growing feelings toward him has been building up these past few episodes. Though the exact wording was what took me for a spin - underscoring their love-hate relationship that was brewing for a long time. Instead of a parting kick, Kyousuke got a parting kiss from Ayase. This closes off the "Ayase route". Poor Ayase and her fans; though had Kyousuke accepted it would have brought even more complications into his life. I guess the Ayase camp is disbanding after this one.

I am however concerned about those pics that lady snapped of Ayase coming home at night from Kyousuke's apartment. That sort of thing is a potential career ender in Japan for someone who works in the modeling & idol industry especially for someone as young as her.

Even if it's more than just dating, I think there's nothing someone could say here in Germany.. Since the age difference isn't that big, I think it's considered legal if you asked that for. But I'm not that well known in that topic, I'd think it's okay.

Like how the series seems to be making a large, overarching joke about the presence of eroge in the show by turning Kyousuke's life into that of an mc of an eroge (maybe even an imouto eroge, but for those of us who haven't read the novel that remains to be seen).

Just watched the preview of the 13th EP, seems pretty interesting
as we will have kind of a flashback back to the times where Kyousuke, Kirino
and Manami were kids.. Too bad I'm gonna be out of country so that I won't
be able to watch the final episode ._.

But let me atleast have a prediction for the next EP,
how I saw the preview, I think it'll be just an flashback and a normal
episode just like those before. I'm not sure, if Kirino is gonna confess or
finally start understanding something, but I got the feeling that
the real 'climax' and the interesting part is only gonna take place in the OVAs,
so I really don't expect something comming up in the next episode. But hey,
I still really look forward to the final EP and the OVAs ;)

Thanks for telling us about the trailer being posted.

The scene where she reaches for that magazine creeps me out a bit. You can sense
that this is the first time she has picked up one of these magazines, and she is
hesitating. The magazine is called "Girl God Magazine". The June issue is on the
left. The July issue is in the middle. You can see Meruru on the cover of the June
issue. So I guess Kirino would have been interested in the June issue and would
have already read it. So now she is interested in the July issue. At the bottom in
blue it says "Little sister candy!" Below that in red it says, "Big brother I love you."
On the right in the small red box it says "special issue".

My guess is that we are seeing the part of Kirino's backstory where they show
how she got hooked on this "litte sister" stuff.

... or, maybe that isn't Kirino's hand ...

Yes, nonsensical.

From an artistic point of view, nonsense is not necessarily bad. I do like
watching this TV series, and I can rewatch it multiple times. After looking
carefully, I think that they did a good job.

However, if you start to think about it logically, it does not hold water at all.

The only realistic aspect is that these locations actually do exist in Japan.
