| 3/5, but just because I love these sort of shows. Characters really bland, pink haired girl was almost a shock to me. It's OK, just OK. And I heard this was from the same people who did Kindaichi, meh... And then there will be the blue haired boy thats like straight from DNAngel and the MC has dark greenish hair, lol. It sucks to be honest. For the 1st episode... It was nothing special, there will not be anything to make you remember it after you manage to finish the painfully bad episode. The umbrella thing was bit too over the top, as if it was some great deduction. The introduction of the people running to the scene, laughed at that. And the woman catching the culprit at the end of the episode was like Eri wanabe from Conan. By the time it hits the preview of 2nd episode, you just get the sudden urge to drop the show. "There is only one answer" yeah brah. I watched this show till the end skipping most of the cases because they were so bad, some were good ofcourse, but I can't even remember any of the characters names? The more I think about this show the more I get annoyed. Read the manga and it's way better. For some reason the cases don't interest me at all in the anime but the manga was great. Maybe if they decide to remake it... |

| That was charming, simplistic characters but they were likable, well maybe not Minami. This was so cheesy, I have to assume it was intentional at the beginning where the criminal and the blonde worker were debating who had more of likelihood to of killed him. "I heard you guys arguing this morning, and you said something like: You will pay for this!", "Oh yeah, well you were looking for a way to fire him!". Hysterical. Not currently as good as Detective Conan, nor am I expecting it to be, but still enjoyable. Put a smile on my face most of the episode. |

Hey since you read the whole manga and watched the show ,how do you rate them both.I am sucker for detective shows and i need a bit break from conan fn.So can you tell its this show worth watching as i wouldnt prefer manga for now(i already have many manga on my readlist) but how do they both stack up Hmm. I wouldn't really compare them that much but it's a pretty good series. As an entertaining story Conan is better by a long shot and it has better animation, characters, OST etc. But TGQ anime also had the bad luck of being made in early 2000's when digital animation was really horrendous looking for the most part with how the colors pop off. That said, the series itself has couple of legitimately classic cases: one of them being the Kamikakushi Village Murder Case which is great in the anime version (pretty much only case I'd really ever suggest watching it for as it's a legitimately great case with that grand style of reveal that some might remember also from the Zero Escape game series.) My favourite case is the occultism case, even though it's just a quick apartment case I think it just hit all the right chords for me. The snuff film case is pretty good too. The series also has a progressive storyline that's pretty neatly paced for the most part. For example the way how the characters begin their story, go through exams, get to the school, investigate about the main antagonists and progress through the Dan Detective School has a very organic flow to it which is easy to appreciate. The Q class even has a rival class in the A class, but I wouldn't say they're that interesting compared to Kaito Kid or something, but the concept of rivalry is a great addition to the world of Tantei Gakuen Q and the Detective School nevertheless. There are those small things that manage to make this more than just a detective series with an overarching goal. I think this series is similar to the currently running Ron Kamonohashi detective manga, except the cases in this are consistently better in comparison. So yeah, this series is a very proper detective series. Manga is better than the anime but the anime does shine with the Kamikakushi Village case. I like it. I'm not sure if I'd rank it in top 5 but it's around as good or better to me as series like C.M.B., Trick or Danganronpa, and I think below series like Poirot, detco, or Ace Attorney. |

Also how is kaito kid anime then i really liked his character in DC but some said the show carried by himself pales. On a side note seeing you have marineford profile photo are you caught up to OP. Magic Kaito 1412 is really good, although the Dark Knight story was adapted better in the original Magic Kaito OVAs as it's an amazing OVA. Other than that I have no problems with the 1412 anime. Nah I'm not caught on OP I've just always had the avatar because of its color palette. |
| Stumbled upon this randomly, and it felt mediocre in most ways. Even keeping aside the fact of it being made in the early days of ugly Digi paint, the directing definitely doesn't help either. Case was straightforward, wouldn't call it bad but it's obvious the moment you see the rope. |
