Well, for those who didn't hear Gintama will be back in 4th October, the day, time slot and channel is the same as Sket Dance. Moreover, for a month already everywhere listed the date of episode 77 but nowhere to be found the date of episode 78, which basically should be stated in some site like ANN/AniDB and official site about a month before airing.

I hope I'm wrong and the time slot will eventually change and the series will not end, at least not before the manga.

Well they mentioned several times in the episode, saying this is the one before the last one, etc so it is 77 episodes ending next week.

Yeah, there was no announcement that Sket Dance would be ending with the 77th episode other than being mentioned at the end of episode 76. The Anime is catching up with the manga so I say it's a good place to end the Anime at. Although I am sad that it's ending since Sket Dance is my favourite Shounen ever. Love the Anime and Manga. It's a shame the manga scanlations are pretty slow compared to the raw's weekly releases.

Hoping that Sket Dance will come back after a few months of absence, like Gintama. *fingers crossed* >=D

It will ultimately depend on the support of the fans. This was one of the animes that had initially negative reception due to its heavy comparison with Gintama, when in fact, it is more of a school life manga than a fourth-wall breaker. Personally, I think it's holding its own well enough, and while it's not one of my favorites, I still enjoy watching Sket Dance in general.

Unfortunately, I do not think that the Sket fanbase is big enough to "force" a season 2. I wouldn't know for sure though :P

It's really sad that we won't get to see the Valentine's Day arc and the Osaka arc. I was waiting for those to be animated. Oh well. Maybe Sket Dance is going to make a return like Gintama in a few seasons. *let's hope*

Same here I hope it comes back too this series really grew on me. It started out funny and a bit boring, but after Switch's story it became one of my favorites. I will miss it.

Last few episodes (mainly after the changes in the student council) weren't so funny for me, especially that episode where they went underground from Unyuu's house, that was terrible.

Finally this week I start to like Katou and Usami isn't as annoying as she usually is and I really like the episode and they say next week it's the last one. What a bummer... I hope it returns at some point!

Dammit I was looking forward to more of Switch's story. Ugh.

But it does need to go.
These last few episodes have been weird (even for SD standards) and the animation has been really really derp.
You can tell the effort that was once there is gone.

That's what I was going to say as well.

But if the show ever does come back, then I'll just wait until it returned (If not, I probably have to read the manga version starting chapter 1).

I agree to that, but one could also say, that the effort went with the knowledge that it would end in a few weeks anyway.

Now I regret that I didn't buy the SKET Dance wristband, but I thought 900 Yen was too much to spend on something like that...

Well, let's just hope they will continue next year. I don't want to have to read the manga but I certainly need more SKET.

OMG! I can't believe in this!
I want second season!
Anime is better than manga,
just because gags are funnier in anime.
I don't want ending!
OMG! I thought this will be long airing anime... :(
WHY?!

Hope this isn't end, and Sket Dance will back!

Okay, after reading this thread, a previous idea I had is all but confirmed. Take heart, ye anime fans! This is probably not the end...
After episode 76, I commented on the forum on the website I tend to watch it, and I said:

"What?? How could this be the last episode? Does that mean Gintama is coming back? I might be okay with Sket-Dance leaving if it meant we get Gintama back… like if they made it to fill in when Gintama went on their break. "

I know people sometimes don't like comparing them, but come on, it's all of the main characters voice actors, there were purposeful cross-overs to help move the fans over to Sket-Dance to ease our anger when Gintama left, and now they are taking Sket Dance off right before Gintama comes back?
It's not coincidence, they are probably working together (well, since most are the same people involved, plus a couple different ones) to keep the fans within that same category from going elsewhere, it's a joint Gintama-Sket monopoly. Without the negative connotation, of course, because they both are amazing.

But I say "worry not" because they will probably keep switching it off when one needs a break and the other has manga caught up. As long as we keep them nice and loved in the fandom.

What do you mean, didnt they say it was continuing through another year, I dont think they litrally meant it is continuing for a full on 52 more episodes back then, and its already been half a year

I'm ok with this. Many long-running animes need a break (I assume Sket Dance is doing that) or else they'll run out of material and will have to consider doing fillers.

It's a little sudden though, but whatever, Gintama's coming back anyway :3

I thought Sket Dance will have more... but I am going to miss this.

It is only been half a year since the second season of Gintama finished.

I guess they will all go to a cycle like this. After Sket Dance end, Gintama will fill it, and when Gintama catches up, Sket Dance willl fill the void again. -___-

I am so used to Gintama getting a rest, but not for Sket Dance.

I bet Gin-san telling that we got the golden timeslot again... since the old Gintama timeslot is what Sket Dance has right now... and they will get it back again.

It's really a shame if it ends. Though it makes me grin when people say "ONLY 77 EPISODES?", that's a long fucking run if you ask me. That would be like 5 seasons of House or so. Well, okay, those run 45min per episode, but you got the point, only one episode per week, same gap.

Anyway, 77 episodes is alot, especially when we're living in a time where most of the animes are only 24 eps. So let's be happy that it lasted this long.

The Gintama and SD filling for each other is a pretty good idea.

I'd be deeply disappointed at SD ending, but having Gintama come back is a bigger thing... I'd love to have both of them during the week, like earlier this year... but maybe that's too much of optimism.

Maybe I should do a rerun of the series.
