Oh ? As for me, I loved this episode, the sensation not to be taken seriously. I think in any case that it is one of the funniest of the series ! =P The end is great ! ^^

This episode was completely pointless, yet I loved it! It was so funny, and the whole non-continuity is hilarious. However, I hope the last 3 episodes have plot, since it is the end of the series :(

When rewatching Samurai Champloo I always omit episodes 22 and 23. Total filler that takes away from a great series.

Its hard to find non-'filler' in the first place with Champloo. You should just accept every episode really, infact, in a weird way this is more 'canon' if you will, than other episodes, because the whole hook behind Champloo is the melding of modern and historic and you cant get more juxtoposition than Americans playing baseball against Japanese.

Champloo was never about a narrative we're meant to follow, and its almost not even like Bebop with characters driving the show. Champloo is just a random remix of Japan itself; past and present. Watanabe has the sense to end the show with character interactions and conflict but we as viewers shouldnt feel bored when they're not on their flimsy 'mission', we're just observers of a unique representation of Japan really.

Heh, this is funny. I consider Episode 23 not only one of the best episodes in a masterpiece of a series (Samurai Champloo), I consider it one of the absolute best episodes in anime history. It is an absolutely funny, brilliant gem of an episode. I challenge anyone to name me a single anime episode, from any series, that is funnier than this one.

Hell, have any of you ever seen the classic Shaolin Soccer by Stephen Chow? The 23rd episode of Samurai Champloo is a baseball version of the same, except understandably shorter, but every bit as hilarious.

Seriously.

Eyn, if you can name something you disliked about that episode, go for it. (And no, "anachronistic comedy" doesn't count, since that's 60 percent of the entire series) Otherwise, shut up.

So if people don't agree with your level of enjoyment of the episode, they're just fanboys who love anything Champloo-related? Grow up.

wow pretty controversial. well i didnt mind there being a filler, and it was quite a gd one cos it was pretty funny, but i guess it was a little unnecessary and didnt fit in with all the other episodes. they should have made 22 and 23 OVAs/extra DVD episodes.

Wow, I loved this episode so much that I couldn't believe my eyes when I was reading some of the comments. Well everyone's entitled to their own opinion. This episode has all the great things that SC has all together. The mixture of new Japan with Edo era and all the hilarious moments etc etc. I'm gonna watch this episode again and again and I'm sure that I'll enjoy it every single time!

Jin was awesome and so was Mugen!

Funny episode, much better than ep. 22. Only thing that has bothered me so far in the series is Jin's lack of character development, like I understand Jin prefers to keep to himself but Mugen has been hogging the spotlight in the past few eps. I have a feeling much will be revealed for Jin within these last 3 eps but still... :/ it's been so long.

Ep 22- Booooo, only part that was entertaining was when they finally said it "Oh, yeah. It's zombies." But still interesting episode, I would never discard it, just the way it feels is enough to make it stand out.

Ep 23- YEAHHHHH, sure it's filler like ep 22. But goddamn hilarious.

I agree with this. There was a laugh or two but really probably my least favorite episode. I generally yawn at sports anyway so it was cool to see it turned into a full contact sport lol.

Quoted for truth. While I will most certainly skip last episode in an eventual rerun of the series, I will not skip this one. Ridiculous and silly? Yes. Pointless? No way. Indeed one of the funniest episodes in Samurai Champloo, but far from the best.

Don't think it was that funny. It had some moments that made me smirk a little but thats all this episode had to offer for me. I just don't have the feeling that this kind of episode fits in Champloo (even though it is a rdiculous anime). I'd rather want episodes that more are connected to the time they are in. They must not be all serious but can be if needed. Just like some episodes we had already.
