This is great news! My favorite anime continues! I thought the anime was done, so I hope they don't turn this into fanservice like in the past... Higurashi is about fountains of blood and screams of horror, not lame slice-of-life humor.

Cool! Hope it's based off the "true ending" arc from the PS2 VN. Rei and Umineko really killed my impression of the When They Cry franchise (yes, I do call it that, ya' fuck), but all would be forgiven with something that awesome.

...But, knowing DEEN, it'll probably just be poorly animated fanservice "comedy."

Yea, I agree. The first season was just unnecessary blood, screaming, laughing, shouting, USODA etc etc. Being a gore fan, I didn't mind it but I still thought it was stupid filler. The rest of the characters were average, and somewhat believable but nothing special (They all had depth, but they were still average characters). The plot had potential, but it got killed with fanservice, filler, and an overused concept. (BELEBE IN UR FRENDZ, AND BE HOPFUL. How many times has that been used?) Although the concept was presented in a unique way, it's still a lame concept. I like how it was presented for the MOST part. The twist was unexpected. Very unexpected. It's confusing when you get into it, but just that...confusing. It was sort of intelligent, but it wasn't amazing. (It would have been intelligent. I like the twist the most, but like I said...it got killed with fanservice, filler, and an overused concept.) The humor was a nice touch, but then it just became filler after too much was put into it. It was necessary to take a break from the gore, and sadness so I was very lenient with it. Though I hated how some of it was just thrown in there, and then that just became filler. :/ What I don't understand is how some fans could just be in it for the filler senseless gore. I was in it for Kai. Needless to say, Higurashi is my favorite anime...but not a great series as a whole.

Correction, Higurashi is about lame slice-of-life humor turning into fountains of blood and screams of horror. The mood whiplash is integral to the higurashi formula imo

as has been mentioned i hope it's an actual arc. Higurashi deserves as much for its 10th anniversary

OH WELL.

Still veryexcited about this. But the "Kira" part does make me worry... It'll probably be some fanservice filler, but those are also entertaining.

But... "Kira"? The heck is this and who's going to write the scenario? Oh, on the other hand DEEN skipped like 3/4 of the original vn when they were creating the adaptation, so maybe they'll just fill some holes...

Interesting. Higurashi fanboy here so I'll be watching, filler crap or not lol. The useful thing about Higurashi is that you can go back and retell "bad end" arcs without mucking up the continuity of the end of the story, so provided they've got a good one that adds to the mythology and character I'm all for it.
