| @Rally- there are many chapters left that could have been adapted, the anime only covered 50% of the manga. But my guess is that the anime stopped right before a certain character's drug addiction started becoming central to the plot, whereas before that point it was left implied but not explicitly shown in the anime (you know, tv regulations). |

I could imagine that. Drugs are a taboo subject on Japanese television after all. Not to get into any sort of politics. It's also unsurprising that a series that's probably permanently on hiatus hasn't gotten another season in general. It would still lead to an unfinished anime after all. I think I'm more interested in series that are unfinished even when completed in manga form, or are never going to be finished any time soon even though the manga is still being updated. |

| I'm just going to name a handful, but obviously this list could be much longer. There are so many great unfinished anime that haven't been touched for 10+ years. If I had to choose just one, I'd probably go with Space Brothers. The last episode aired in 2014. I absolutely loved this series, and I consider it one of my top 5 anime. I would be so excited for more. Next would maybe be Ouran High School Host Club, last aired in 2006. It was such a fun series, with really likable characters. I remember when it ended, everyone was so sure that a second season must be just around the corner, but for whatever reason, it never happened. I think a reboot is way more likely than a second season at this point. I'd really love another season of Silver Spoon, last aired in 2014. It was just a really solid series that I'd love to see more of. A favorite of mine in the early 00s was The Twelve Kingdoms, last aired in 2003. Like Ouran, a second season could probably never happen now, but maybe a reboot would be possible. Nana's an obvious choice, but given the circumstances, I know it can't happen, so I'll leave it off. |

Silver Spoon is normally something I would choose. I liked the series a lot and I'm obviously a huge fan of Arakawa, but I've heard there were enough changes to the original series to make me check out the manga instead. The Ouran High School Host Club anime wasn't that great, but I wouldn't mind watching a second season. Too bad the likelihood of that ever happening is zero... |

| A new series of the live-action drama adaptation of manga «Chihayafuru», committed to by the original author, aired this year. (*) It's the story of the second generation, but it also depicts the grown-up familiar characters of those days. There's no substitute for this title as a manga and anime about competitive karuta games. The fanbase of the anime version of «Chihayafuru» seems still vital. It would be uplifting fodder for the anime sequel. * Since the incident with «Sexy Tanaka-san,» live-action drama projects have emphasized reflecting the original author's intentions. |

| @Rally- I fear that a remake won't end up being as beautifully crafted as the first adaptation, but of course I'd be happy to see its return. And it might be the only chance to see a proper ending, I mean that a remake with an anime original ending (following Ai Yazawa's guidance, of course) is more likely than the manga returning from the hiatus. |

| Definitely Sangatsu no Lion. Even tough the anime is about shogi (Japanese chess game), but the MC's char development and overall story is superb for me, even sometime it's pure heartwarming. For those haven't watch it, try take a seat in your "chill" time. Might take some time to enjoy, but won't be disappointed even if you don't know shogi. I'm still wondering though, why Shaft (with their "unique" artstyle) don't adapt a new sequel (S3) remembering the anime kinda popular and have good ratings. |

| Which one of your favorite unfinished anime series hasn't made a comeback in over 10 years? Baby Steps. It has only been adapted up to the beginning of Volume 19, but there are 47 volumes in total. I think it would make more sense to make a remake instead of just a new season or two. Quite unlikely that Baby Steps will a comeback, since it has been axed and the author hasn't continued the story since then. Very sad, because it's one of the best sports anime I've ever seen. |

| @palm-tree 12 Kingdoms was weirdly received back in its day. I liked it immensely, but a lot of people didn't care for the artwork, the MC or what they conceived as a poor plot, And it did seem to end on a somewhat clumsy note. Like they though they were going to get another season then got cut off at the knees at the last moment. Still a treasured DVD set that I've broken out many times over the years to enjoy again. |

| I can't imagine that the idea that drugs turning someone's life upside down is unrelatable in pretty much any cultural context... Humans have been abusing substances since before they started using tools lol I would hazard a guess that Nana was already too josei for its shoujo audience and galmourising the rock star lifestyle would be too far out of bounds and they were already kind of there with the amount of smoking which tends to get the censors jumpy... Of course doing a time skip to get around Yazawa's illness is may have been a convenient dodge. |

| Aishiteruze Baby was left unfinished for 20 years and it's not gonna be finished. Usagi Drop was left unfinished and for once that's good. The Tetsuwan Birdy franchise is doomed to never get a popular adaptation. I wonder if a continuation of The Silent Service would be worth it. If anything can get a remake, so can Outlanders. More Ozanari Dungeon would probably be welcomed. I loved the first two seasons of the Seikai no/Of the Stars series but the others that followed, would I like more of it I wonder. And finally Aku no Hana. |

Past that point, the manga shifts into a much heavier, war-driven shit that the anime adaptation basically wasn’t even built to fucking handle. Sure, Kanta stays being the shitty scum he’s always been, but he basically stops being the goofy perverted desert gremlin I loved about the series. He gets turned into the fucking typical full-on anti-villain archetype. The dark-comedy vibe drops almost entirely too. Trying to adapt the later arcs would feel more like a whiplash sequel of the shit than a continuation of the same show. I even remember back when I was still collecting physical manga in the 2000s, I didn’t even enjoy the story past where the anime fucking cuts off. Eventually, after moving from one shitty apartment to the next, I started auctioning off some of the first issues on eBay. I probably sold over 500 pounds of manga and comic books I’d collected since the late 80s, either online or at local used book stores. It sure made my wife happy that I wasn’t constantly nagging her to translate shit into romaji in a tiny notebook for me anymore. lol |

| Skip Beat, the part the anime adapted was good, but the story gets even better in the manga. The manga is still going after many decades, hopefully there's a chance of a comeback one day. Hikaru no Go, there's not a lot of contents left after where the anime left off, and the manga ending is also not the most satisfying, it's safe to say this is never coming back. Mahou Sensei Negima, every single time this anime comes back, it's never in the form where it adapts the best arc/saga of the series. They reboot the series twice, adapting the earlier ecchi/harem/comedy part of the story, and then there are OVAs adapting bits and pieces from the Magic World arc which are pretty decent, and then there's a mid filler movie, then they adapt the story sequel which imo isn't as good as the original.. like, can we actually get an adaptation of The School Festival and Journey to the Magic World saga? Ghost Hunt, this is my favorite horror anime, it has 2 of the best arcs in horror anime, I really hope this makes a come back one day. I want to see if there are better or similar arcs in the novels. Saiunkoku Monogatari, I am a huge fan of imperial palace romance/drama, while the ending isn't the most satisfying from what I know, I do want to see the part where the main characters end up together. On the same topic, Akatsuki no Yona too, the last episode aired in 2016, so it's nearly a decade. Air Gear, one of the coolest anime there ever was. Air-Treks is one of my childhood wish. It's 2025, we need skaters like Air-Treks. |

| Baccano - Much more content could be adapted but sadly this series is probably long forgotten and never got a sequel. Only like 4 of the 20+ novels got an adaptation so that's like 4 12 episode seasons worth of content. Twelve Kingdoms - Anime got cancelled mid season so series never got fully finished. Main story arc was adapted thankfully though. Noragami - Manga ended over a year ago and the anime hasn't been revisited in a while. With MHA ending and the Bungou Stray Dogs manga slowing down I'd hope there is a chance they come back to this. |
