Ruri drooling about money is priceless. Then again, gold is probaby one of the most valuable minerals they found this episode. Makes you wonder what else is worth more in this show.

For an anime like this, I'm guessing gold is probably one of the common minerals.

The time for mining the stone has begun. i just curious can gold be found through rock? i only know that gold can be found through sifted sand and also just confused about the friction of the gold. If it is real gold, then the friction produced should remain golden and not turn black, so what Ruri found is pyrite or Kittekou, right?

Is pyrite an iron ore? And which has a higher exchange value, gold or pyrite?

Is this the result of "metal bonding"? It must take 10,000 years for this gold dust to form. It seems that Ruri hit the jackpot in the river.

Ruri and Nagi's educational and beautifully animated adventure with the sparkling and cool rocks continues.

Gotta appreciate all the facts they tell us about all the minerals.

Ruri reactions are cute and hilarious. :3

Well, most of us all love gold after all. I understand why she's craving for it so much.

...and that is how Ruri-chan has become a golddigger. Sad story.

That mountain river must have been very cold, it was a miracle poor girl didn't get a cold or even worse, hypothermia, while standing in that deep water-hole for hours.

EVERYTHING IS SO PRETTY, that last scene with the placer gold was amazing

im not a big geology person, but this show gets me so excited to watch and really pulls me in the entire episode.

I love that, little by little, Nagi is converting Ruri to love rocks more. She even got the pickaxe she really wanted last episode. I'm really excited to watch more and see these two go on more excavations.

Ruri struck gold there. At first I wasn't really into it, but I'm starting to dig the contrast between her and Nagi. Although, she's also beginning to understand that there's more than just monetary value thanks to experiencing the joy of a discovery first hand.

Episode two and we've already done Ruri with the fool's gold.
She took it better than I expected though and actually came out the episode more invested than before. Her growing interest in mineralogy is going to be so nice to see.

How many people would actually ever find a nugget that huge?! The little flakes are realistic. LOL Ruri got gold fever bad just seeing that search pit. When I lived in Barstow, California, those dead mines were EVERYWHERE in the hills. Some were deathtraps. Other were little caves we knew were safe to get out of the sun & heat.

@Syureria Gold. Pyrite isn't even that valuable as an iron ore, too much sulfur. But the crystals are appreciated by collectors. The one she found certainly would be!

Not sure if I'm onto something but i feel like they're coloring the end of episodes in the color of the episode's gems.

Episode 1 had a very reddish tint at the end for garnet

And episode 2 was very golden for gold

That has to be intentional.

“If you want to study rocks, you have to look beyond rocks”

I need bind to just drop mushoku and focus on CGDCT anime! Collecting minerals has never been so fun. This is such a rewarding watch. Not only is Ruri adorable, but I’m genuinely learning so much in just two episodes. I highly recommend everyone pause and check out the eye catches, they have a lot of cool historical and geological information.

I personally would’ve been right along with Ruri in not really caring about Pyrite if it’s a very commonly occurring mineral, but when Nagi started talking about “value” being subjective and all the things that go into determining the value of something it really resonated with me. Just knowing the mineral you have is something you found with your own hard work is pretty cool, and you have all the different shapes they come in!

Ruri finally got her gold! I thought Nagi would just brush her off because surely gold couldn’t be that common in a Japanese forest, right? But apparently placer gold is pretty common lol. TIL rain increases the likelihood of finding some too! I think this show’s gonna birth a whole new generation of gold prospectors lol. Ruri hit the jackpot there at the end with that bigger haul of gold and I’m glad she’s keeping it for herself instead of selling, the character animation on that scene was so beautiful too!

Very good follow up episode

This is going to be a very informative series isn't it? I'm already learning the basic aspects of gold and how to distinguish it from other minerals, and with easy-to-follow dialogues. I'm also enjoying following the two main leads, I wonder when the rest of the group are going to appear. Loved this episode 🧡💛

Oh my gooooood! This anime is a visual and artistic masterpiece! I can't believe what my eyes are seeing!

I don’t even know how many frames I captured, but I was visually stunned—WOW WOW WOW! I’m speechless… it’s a work of art!

Still not convinced? Just look at some of the frames I captured! I’ve included some from the first episode for context...

I rewatched episode one with my friends, and honestly—wow! I was blown away when I paid attention to the finer details.

Also, the scientific aspect of the anime is excellent! For someone like me who knows nothing about geology, this anime serves as a fantastic introduction to the subject! If you'd like me to create a post compiling all the scientific topics introduced in the show, just tag me or send me a message! I’d love to work on that.

And if you hype me up enough, I’ll post it right now and update it with every episode!

But for now, enjoy the frames. (Heads-up: there are *a lot* of them!) 👇

Ms. Sugoi Dekkai was kind enough not to tell lil' blonde that pyrite is called Fool's Gold for a reason.

I'm fairly sure one can't just wash placer gold or mine for it at will in Japan, which is a unitary nation state and those tend to have fairly strict laws. Even licensing could be insufficient, the gov't is probably selling mineral concessions to mining companies for particular regions and takes 30% or so of the loot.

As for the philosophy of value, once there was a rabbi who studied the Torah and Talmud his whole life, kept the Sabbath stricter than anyone else and prayed incessantly. The Almighty saw his deeds and sent an angel to reward him.
- Rabbi, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has seen your righteousness! Choose one of 3 gifts as your reward: the long life of Metsuselah, the wisdom of King Solomon or the great wealth of Pharaos.
- I desire wisdom!
- Let that be! says the angel and gives a blessing. The rabbi immediately strikes his forehead:
- I should have chosen wealth...!
- See, how wise you've already become! replies the angel and flies away...

Lord, this show is beautiful in more ways than one. Visually, that's the obvious one - the gems are beautiful, the forest floors (it's nice how things don't look too "clean" or undetailed but you really get a sense of variance walking among the rocks and trees - the landscape changes sometimes mere steps apart due to natural phenomena and manmade intervention; things could just look random without someone with knowledge of the local land's history - its disasters, engineering and construction projects, weather patterns, etc.), water of the rivers, and everything else comprising the nature is beautiful, and the girls are both beautiful.

But it's also beautiful in what it teaches and the mindset and way of thinking it encourages.

Amazing that I have seen so many of and am watching plenty of current anime this week with no shortage of death and suffering, tragedy and loss, etc., yet the closest I came to tearing up recently was when Ruri guarded and announced she was never selling the gold she found and pulled out with her own two hands, at the end of this episode. What a teacher Nagi is, and what an impression to leave. To turn Ruri within the span of one episode from a single-minded materialist into...well, still a materialist I suppose (if anything, rocks and their minerals are even more concrete physically tangible material, one of the most imaginable, than money and all the "artificial" and manmade products it can buy), but one with an appreciation and love for what could be created by nature/the universe instead of created solely by humans and purchased in a store. Wow, what a feat.

Every Ruri in the real world needs a Nagi.

I was also surprised when she said the pothole was natural

Loved the times where Nagi explains anything with little drawings like this:

Can we appreciate Ruri's enthusiasm about her new toy?

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Never would have thought that id see a streak plate (and in use!) in an anime! hope we see more mineral testing soon (hardness and acid testing are my favourite)

Ngl after watching this, i was hoping nagi would talk about using the river's deposition banks as a starting point for placer mining, but the talk about deposits over bedrock was cool too. i wonder what mineral we will focus on next...

@sonictoryuiai

The anime industry will never be the same again. They now have to censor panties because some sensitive westerners are going to be offended. What a shame.

This censorship ended up having a funny result, as it seems that Ruri doesn't wear panties, similarly to Aqua from Konosuba.

@sonictoryuiai I think they did her butt pretty good but toning it down kinda hurts to see. More importantly they should have showed her feet, c'mon I want to see more cute feet on screen.

It reminds me of how KyoAni toned down A LOT on the Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid adaptation, although the anime turned out better then the manga for me.

Ruri got a lot of development in this one, she went out looking for gold to sell it for a hefty sum at first, but Nagi’s influence wore off on her, so by the end she understood that there’s more value to that gold she found than just monetary. It definitely is quite mind blowing that the big gold piece may have taken up to 10 million years to make, and now it’s right there in Ruri’s hands, but no matter how beautiful that moment was, I’m ngl I’d still be tempted to sell it lol.

I also liked the pyrite focused first half, but it’s funny they didn’t mention it’s other name “fool’s gold” like other’s have already said, the show is quite informational otherwise tho so it’s no big deal, one really interesting piece of info that I liked was the process of how gold goes to the top of a mountain and eventually ends up downstream to be found. And lastly, wow Ruri really had her whole ass out at the end huh lol, a shame about the censored panty shot but there’s still a lot of fanservice happening, I can’t complain really, not to mention the art and animation was so beautiful there too.

SB/ED by Akiyama, no surprise there. He almost always shows up to help on Fuji’s shows or episodes, and once again, he delivers. Episode is packed with beautiful drawings and animation. The hyper-realistic BGs look great too, and the character integration is top-notch. They blend in naturally with the scenery instead of looking like they’re pasted onto another layer of reality.

Really loving how the show includes those mid-episode cards with detailed mineral info. Super informative stuff because I usually don’t expect to learn anything new from anime, but with this, I’m picking up something every week. Also, not totally sure who the animators were for that whole scene of Ruri in her room (though the smears make it kind of obvious), but whoever handled it knew exactly what they were doing.

It is a Fuji show, after all.
