This episode was like a celebration of Tsumugi and her life. Truly though, it had a bittersweet feeling to it but also joyful moments.

Shizuka of course remains supportive of her friend along with Hairi. Imo, it did feel like this episode did a lot to make Tsugumi feel as happy as possible. This arc has been full of fluff.

What a beautifully heartbreaking ending to Tsumugi arc. Definitely the best episode of the show so far and even though this arc felt rushed, I did really grow to care for and empathise with Tsumugi. She truly deserves all the happiness in the world. At least we got a somewhat happy ending since Hairi and Shizuku can come see Tsumugi every summer!

“She was our summer” man, seeing the abridged version of the gang making the most of the time they had together with Tsumugi was beautiful. I really think she was analogous for the season itself. Beautiful fleeting moments that just end too soon. Her farewell song and the tender moments with she and Hairi were so good. The VN OST really amplifies these emotional scenes too.

I’m still confused on what happened to the original Tsumugi tho? Is she just going to remain trapped in that purgatory esque world forever or is she able to pass on now? I hate that her fiancé and parents never got any closure on her. Tsumugi B taking her place and creating memories and friends for the original Tsumugi to come back to is heartbreaking too. It makes you appreciate her time with Haiti and Shizuku so much more because that’s the first time she’s done stuff for herself

I like Kamome as a character more, but I like Tsumugi’s route better and her selflessness is so admirable. ❤️

Guess we won't be hearing mugyu for a while.
And the abs turned into a beer belly or should i say chocolate belly.
Shiroha was easily bribed with some ice cream.
And the others didn't need any persuasion to help out.

Kudo to the stuff, they used a song from Reflection Blue and have Tsumugi sing new version of her song.
The pacing is a little rushed but overall pretty nice adaption of this arc.

Now we have finish two route, could there be more Shiki jumpscare in the second half of heroine routes?!

Such a beautiful episode to end Tsumugi's arc.

Everything about this episode was so well done, the candle pathway was so nice. The song Tsumgui sang was fun and catchy actually. The OST in this episode was SO good. Umi is a really interesting character, we don't know much about her besides her making good fried rice.

We will miss you, Tsumugi.

So unlike Kamome, Tsumugi will be returning every summer? Nice! That means Hairi can visit her every year, can even marry her. And what's more, Tsumugi won't age. Her body will remain like a teenager forever. Hahaha😈

A song with lyrics that are half "mugyugyugyugyu mugyu" has no right getting my eyes this wet, but man, Tsumugi's innocent retelling of her summer adventure was the purest thing ever. I'm just glad that she got to say bye to Hairi and Shizuku with a smile.

Also, Shiroha getting bribed with a watermelon bar is seeping with pure meme energy lmao

Holy shit they actually used Natsu no Sunadokei towards the beginning, absolutely beautiful song that gets even better in the full version. Also fully convinced me that the staff want either a 2nd season or side season for the RB routes with how much they tease
and other RB elements. (or it could already be in production seeing as the game sold well in Japan)

Easily (which is an impressive feat) best episode so far, (I mean it's the best heroine route imo) however I also have some gripes with it. They cut down the playing around and just put Natsu no Sunadokei over a montage, I understand that change but they removed Shizuku continuing on Tsumugi's 'mugyu' refrain after the song ends and she disappears which was the emotional breaking point for me in that scene. I understand this as well but they cut a (fairly long) conversation during the time skip where the two Tsumugi's talk and original Tsumugi wants our Tsumugi to live her own life, hence returning at the end of the episode. I do like Umi putting (plush) Tsumugi down, they're doing a great job at foreshadowing stuff which the VN didn't really have much outside of really subtle dialogue hints that become obvious on your last heroine route playthrough and Shiroha and RB
routes. Still teared up quite a bit though, I was full on crying in the VN.

From now on this will be quite plot heavy once we get through the early stages of Ao's route a lot about the island is revealed [although my least favourite character is in that route, and that route only], then Shiroha is fairly tame aside from a few hints to the true route. then the true (masterpiece) routes will start calm then kill you emotionally

Oh yeah also the music throughout the game goes from great summer music to being absolutely beautiful until it releases into the true routes ED (which is like actual top 5 song of all time to me)

A lot of very intense emotions this week.
My favorite parts are all the little scenes at the beginning when they recreate the whole year in one week, but also the ending and Tsumugi's song.
These two parts are my favorite in both the VN and the anime :) almost teared up despite knowing it was coming.

So yeah, 'our' Tsumugi was the teddy bear of the 'real' Tsumugi all along. I think I saw only one person guess it in last week's thread (forgot the username sorry, but congrats for guessing right).
That fact and the powerful ending gives Tsumugi's story kind of a fairytale-like vibe for me.

It's been some time since I've played the VN, so don't quote me on that, but I think they did change the ending somewhat compared to the VN: to make it a bit more clear what 'our' Tsumugi was, but also to involve Umi (they are doing a little bit too much teasing for my taste but oh well I guess they want to remind people that she's here), and to make it seems as if Tsumugi definitely returns the following summer (in the VN I'm pretty sure that, like Kamome's ending, it was a bit more ambiguous).

Absolute fucking cinema😭😭♥️

Brilliant arc brilliant ending. I love Tsumugi so much😭♥️...

The idea of fitting in whole year worth in a week was kinda dumb but all of their friends helping out was kinda wholesome.

But what Shizuka did with that Pringles candles was amazing she gave both of them the perfect romantic setting before their separation.

I somewhat understood Tsumugi(s) story. After the real one disappeared the teddy bear took her form but didn't replaced her just kept reminding her memories. I am not fully sure why our Tsumugi have to go (maybe because real one returned at end). But man that was bittersweet to see her vanish🥲

The Tsumugi song was just outstanding, listened it on a loop many times and always making my eyes wet🥲. The bird here signifies Hairi not her (the cow Shizuku lol). Something something migrating birds probably. But that song and mugyu mugyu gyu gyu was so cute and beautiful..ah😭😭

Seeing Hairi after she disappeared was very tough.

But the last scene confirms she will atleast be there in summer if not more. I didn't expected a happy timeline, but I will take it. I am so happy for these three they deserves each other forever.

Way more satisfying ending and even overall the arc was better than Kamome one. She is better charcter but the relationship Tsumugi and Hairi was far better executed. It could have been better if one more episode was given but still I absolutely loved it. I will be surprised if there's a better arc romantically atleast.

After Kamome arc 6 to 7
After Tsumugi arc 7 to 8.
Keeps getting better second best anime this season for me.

Just like previously I am gonna miss Tsumugi and mugyu🥲

Damn it Tsumugi! Apart from the obvious waterworks you caused in this episode, you also made a very masculine song that could well beat the "Ruby-san, hai! Nani ga suki..."

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

"...my beloved cow ..."

As I suspected, a tsugumomo of the stuffed bear from the old photo. Say hello to Kiriha fro me, Tsugumi. I miss her also.

Umi again in the magical flower filed, dissolving into butterflies at the end of summer. Much points to her being the nexus of events somehow.

Is there any connection between Umi Katou and Katou-cahn, Tsumugi Wender's friend?

I may be strong but I can't possibly carry all these feels. They stepped up with the visuals the last few episodes too.

Tsumugi route is the sweetest and most wholesome of all the routes and I'm glad they did it justice. Tsumugi route was the only route where I was genuinely sad at the ending and this was no different. And yeah there may be a few plot holes here and there but to counterpoint myself - Tsumugi is cute.

Well fellas get ready for the sleepy best girl Ao next episode as well as the answers to almost every question that people have been asking.

summer!Tsumugi is the teddy bear of kimono!Tsumugi who came to life to try and get people to never forget kimono!Tsumugi after she was spirited away to the lighthouse in the field (what that lighthouse is is shown in a much later route). Actually pretty standard fare for Key if you could believe it. As for the original Tsumugi she is still at that lighthouse unable (and unwilling) to leave as she still cannot make the choice between her friends on the island and her lover. kimono!Tsumugi is still alive because time moves differently in that other world compared to the real world as shown in the last episode.

As for how summer!Tsumugi is back in the end the visual novel has an extra scene at the end which the anime didn't show where kimono!Tsumugi tells summer!Tsumugi that she doesn't have to be tied down to her anymore and can freely do as she likes so that's why she's back. Yeah sounds dumb but, again, actually pretty in-line with Key.

Anyway, Tsumugi being a metaphor for summer itself is an interesting interpretation, but I hope anime do it in a way that does not require a character to state the interpretation out loud.

Mugyuuu...

Honestly, I wasn't expecting Tsumugi to sing a song where the majority of the lyrics is Mugyu over and over, but she certainly made it sound so peaceful and touching both at the same time. It's also how I sum up the end of her arc here, where Hairi and Shizuku got the help of everyone to make sure the last week of summer was jam packed of fun events, with the paringle-style candle lights outside the lighthouse being the most memorable of them all with how pretty it looked.

It was a pretty emotional farewell to Tsumugi, but not a permanent one at that, as the ending credits did show both Hairi and Shizuku meeting Tsumugi again a year later during another summer vacation. It did show Umi on the other side as well, making her own goodbye message, so hopefully we're one step closer to knowing what her role is in this story. On another note, I will keep a close eye on the next episode and when it plays the OP, as Umi does come to a stop along the beach. I'm guessing she'll walk even less and come to a stop earlier.

What a nice end to Tsumugi's route. It was good, but like the previous route, it seems a bit rushed, especially in the previous episode where they cut a lot of content related to Both Hairi and Tsumugi. Loved the part where they used the perfect music to portray the different celebrations happening. Idk for me, the ending where Tsumugi disappeared didn't make me sad, but made me depressed instead. Also, I didn't like the changed scenes where they were sitting, the VN, meanwhile, had them standing. It could have added to make it more emotional. They also cut a scene where both Tsumugis were talking after she disappeared, which was very disappointing to see.

Overall, it was a good route, not the best, below Kamome's route. Everything from the moments they have spent together, they did well. Some scenes are emotional to watch.

Well, let us now move on with Ao's route, which I'm excited for, probably my favorite route in the entire game. Will probably see more cut content, but if they do the emotional scenes right, it could be one of my favorite routes to date. It most likely will be a 4-episode but if they nail some scenes, it will be good watch.

Sorry but I couldn't sympathize with Tsumugi (maybe because there were cuts and they rushed her story) but I found her episodes the most boring so far, and before the anime arrived she was the one I was least interested in since I don't like that kind of characters with childish personality and voice, I found Kamome's story much more impactful, but I still really liked her music, but the ones I'm most anxious to know more about are the next Shiroha and Ao which are the ones I liked the most.

I don't want to offend Tsumugi fans but it seems like she couldn't keep the anime engaged like Kamome did, I couldn't wait for her episodes to end, if it's the way I think the next episodes will be focused on Ao and I realized that she's the favorite of the majority and has everything to make the anime more interesting again so I can't wait for her arrival and what she'll reveal.

@raisin-kun thanks for the explanation regarding the situations with both the current Tsumugi and the original. One thing I've disliked about this series so far is the lack of background information on the 2 girls (Kamome and Tsumugi) that have been focused on thus far, not sure if the studio assumes that the people watching have played through the visual novel or if the unanswered questions will be explained later on in the series.

Regarding this episode, as others have said this route felt rushed and I did not get attached to Tsumugi so I'm somewhat indifferent to her storyline and what happened to her. On that note I hope that the next couple of girls are not only real but that their storylines are more fleshed out and not rushed.

Tsumugi is my favorite character and arc, so I know I'm being a bit more picky in how they adapted it. It should've been an episode longer at least. Plus they skipped a conversation that causes Mugi coming back the next summer to actually make sense.

Still loved seeing my favorite scene animated, but the little differences (sitting vs standing for instance) were low-key unneeded.

Noooo, Oppai-san is wearing a witch costume for Halloween! She’s slowly stealing my little heart...

Excuse me? You give a flat-chested girl a swimsuit in size H hoping her chest will grow? What world are we living in? This anime is losing control…

By the way, I need an Oppai-san in my life—so I know where to go when I cry. Hahahahahahahaha.

To be honest, 3/10. Tsumugi’s arc was boring. I watched all four episodes back to back without waiting a week between them, but still—it’s the Kamome episodes I liked, and we got nothing about her. Oumi appeared at the start of the arc and then vanished strangely. And please don’t expect me to be emotionally moved by Takahara kissing an underage girl. With all due respect, think again before you criticize my comment.

Jokes aside, there’s absolutely no point in these four episodes. We don’t even know Tsumugi well. And what does old Tsumugi’s past have to do with the present? The new Tsumugi made friends and lived her life, while the old one is still in the lighthouse, decades later, unsure whether to go with her lover or stay with her family? Her lover and family are both long gone and she’s still undecided?? Hahahahahahahahahaha?????????

Four empty episodes. Bad writing. No purpose. All the dialogue was filler and mundane daily chit-chat.

So why 3/10? One point for the art, two because I had fun joking about Oppai-san, and a third because the fanservice was so dull I had to entertain myself writing about her. Other than that, I wasted my time—and I don’t recommend anyone watch these four episodes.

You must be new to Key works. Every arc lays the foundation for the mystery within the story. If you don't have the patience to piece things together, this show isn't for you.

Also Tsumugi is a high schooler and so is Hairi. I don't understand your age comment at all.

Tsumugi reveals herself to be some sort a ghost connected to the lighthouse and her task is ensuring people remember a girl that lived there years ago and disappeared. Tsumugi's arc was way more lighthearted in tone compared to Kamome's.

The butterflies don't seem to follow a pattern when interacting with the heroines. Unlike Kamome, there was no visible butterfly involved in Tsumugi's disappearance, she just turned into a teddy bear. The blue ribbon she leaves behind gifted by Hairi suggests she's a non-material existence.

In the previous episode we saw a Penrose staircase, so the story features loops but not in the sense of time loops because Hairi is not living the same events over and over. There is some ambiguity around Hairi's experiences being an illusion, a dream, or reality, which initially led me to believe he's in a dreaming or hallucinogenic state.

This ambiguity reminds me of some other popular Western movie released in 2010, eight years before this novel, but I'm still going to put it inside a spoiler tag, to be safe.

Tsumugi's song was a bit silly but cute, very child-like.
