Well I guess that was it. After all the eating and shenanigans, the days of dreams are over. Overall, I think Toriko was quite a fun ride especially in the beginning.

Going to miss the series. The new Fairy Tale castle also looks dope.

It was definitely a wild ride from the beginning. Starting from the wild ingredient to the ridiculous battles that then appeared.

Even tho it got rushed and many characters didn't get their spotlight. Poor Rin even in marriage got stuck to secondary character until the end. The idea of a space arc would bring back that adventure there was in the beginning chapters unlike when it started going all serious on us.

Still 8.5 years,eh? I used to watch the anime with my sister but didn't know that it also got canceled some time ago.

Looking forward to the future.

One of my Favorite Manga gone... Goodbye all the Adventures and Epicness that it Toriko. Screw Jump for giving Toriko and so many other series that had Potential the axe.

Goodbye to the last manly shounen that was left in WSJ.
A nice ending compared to Naruto and Bleach.

We really got a space arc at the end.

Despite the rushed pacing towards the end it's still a fairly solid ending. Wished we could've learned more about the 3rd demon.

Well, Toriko has ended, it was totally a fun ride, so many memories of past chapters with incredibles battles and food. I will have this manga as one of my favorites. Even though it was rushed like Bleach, the mangaka did a better job than Kubo. Farewell Toriko!

Damn, I'm gonna miss this one so much. I started reading it when it just started and I was a 14-year old kid back then and this is the longest manga I read on a weekly basis for every single chapter and, surprisingly enough, I never got tired of it in these 8 years.

It had some few problems, but overall, it was a pretty fucking fun manga to read and I'm happy it endend very well. I enjoyed a lot this last arc and the most of the Gourmet World part. Can't say it's a masterpiece, far from that, but I surely will remember it very fondly.

Thanks for the fun times and farewell, old friend Toriko. It was nice reading your adventures.

Why do so many manga of this kind have such shit endings? Bleach this year and now this as well. This full circle ending was already done in Naruto.

Dragon Ball didn't have a great ending (wasn't as bad though). Yu Yu Hakusho had a god awful ending. Kenichi has a crap ending. Plenty of others too.

They always come across as so badly rushed. I bet Fairy Tail's will be the exact same. One Pieces might be alright because it was planned early.

All in all this series was good up until the start of the Cooking Festival saga then it was never as good again. The series was at its best when it was about Toriko and Komatsu travelling the world finding unique ingredients. It became too battle heavy at the end and lost its charm. The battles were never the reason why it became so popular.

After the long final battle, it got a nice conclusion (and Toriko's adventures continue in space).

The first part of Toriko was great with many interesting ingredients and arcs, but in the second part the series lost its charm with the ridiculous elements. For example the Bambina arc with the gender-bending or the over the top battles at the end.

all in all it is still a great adventure - 8/10

8/10 all things considered. Started out really great. Remembered rushing through chapters 100-300 - Bishoukuya arcs iirc. Got very rushed towards the end but still very manly.

The adventures had their fun but really i never felt for the characters much, they always seemed like caricatures. Also after the human world everything was rushing and going crazy and it felt unengaging despite the big events happening. You had no time to digest something and we were jumping into something else etc.
Also in the end it's obvious thigs are missing from this story because the other food spirits inside Toriko never got any time of the day and we learned pretty much nothing about them or even why they where there really.

I think I feel the opposite lmao. I wasn't really into it at first but it reminded me of classic manga (Fist of the North Star, Macross, Gundam, and Leijiverse). The Century Soup arc was finally where I decided I was on board but once the cooking festival arc happened, it was a nonstop hype train.

I loved Gourmet Corp, especially Midoriya's backstory and how it was wrapped up. The Bambina arc was fucking nuts and I thought it was fitting. It had that zany humor to it that we all loved and memorable screen time for all the Kings. it honestly would've been nice to see more characters do their stuff (like Granny) but I was satisfied. In regards to pacing, I felt like the author really did away with the fluff and focused on his plot points. He sharpened them and the series benefited from it. The God arc hardly dragged at all and it was a spectacular finish with those 31 pages last week and this final chapter with throwbacks. It was emotional, and great seeing Komatsu grow throughout the series.

With the space clam hurtling through space, I got some Toriyama Jaco-DB vibes and I had an entire dorky smile while reading it. Toriko wasn't perfect, but it nailed everything it set out to do. I'll miss it more than Naruto tbh. I'm rating the series a 9/10.

And it's finally over...

For the most part, I enjoyed this series but as soon as the time skip started, it got progressively worse at it went on and this final arc was final nail in the coffin.

So many shit endings this year, from Sun Ken Rock, Nisekoi, Bleach to now this...I hope 2017 won't be the same.

I thought the last arc of toriko was awesome. It got me on the edge of my seat almost every chapter
A curve including all entries should be of a gaussian form. One including limited entries by picking animes you liked and not rating animes you dropped should look like mine.
Amount of total animes each rating should have (percentages): 6-25,7-15,8-6,9-3,10-1

Was a great ride until the end I have to say. I did enjoy it more at the start but I didnt hate the ending. Loved the characters and the overly exaggerated food. Great stuff :) A bit sad it had to end but also felt like it was long due with the last arc.

9/10 for keeping me interested for so long and still being an enjoyable read till the end.

I loved the series as a whole, but the last few chapters weren't my favorite parts by far. I think the ending could have been stronger, but man was it quite a ride getting there! Hate to see it end!

Was enjoyable enough to read all chapters within 3 days. Usually such long series tire me too much to read within a short span of time unless they get you entangled.

The zenith of the series were certainly the arcs around the point of the cooking festival for me, those really had me completely glued into reading more and more...and starting with the timeskip it pretty much felt like how dragon ball > dragon ball Z felt...
I wouldn't even be surprised if they decided to make an anime called Toriko Z which continues after the timeskip, heh.

The few sketches we had on this last chapter show that the author probably had at least a vague idea on how to continue the series, so the reason it ended like this is most likely because it was decided that it should end with this, be it due to popularity reasons or whatever economic reasons.

All in all, considering the author was most likely finishing story in a hurry - he did a much better job at it than the 2 giants, Naruto and Bleach, did! We got some hints to answer the main questions at least partly.. the toriko's last devil, the origin of the universe, what happens next..
Can't complain much about the ending to be honest, it was fine, certainly not great, but fine enough.

The biggest downside is the 'DBZ' style fights. Didn't suit the theme too much... same with power levels, they seemed to be scaling up too fast. At the beginning when they took out a massive beast, who had a power of around 50 and it was like woah... and then there were all those things flying around with ~500 capture level which were negligible.. Yeah, the evolution should have been shown, but the pace of it progressing was completely broken past the human world.
Also some minor flaws towards the end felt like deus ex machina, but that can be forgiven for a shounen manga, I guess.

But enough of that - the manga does a great job at what it aimed for and also teaches you a life lesson of how you should share the joy with others.
Overall a 7/10 from me, a decent enough read.

The ending was trash. Rushed plot points, nonsensical powerups, annoying plot devices (food luck & back channels) being overused, Accia’s contrived character arc and the power creeps (Accia, Midora, Joie and Toriko). I hate how Toriko left the 3 kings behind because of writer favouritism. I mean 3 gourmet demons, really?

I’ve never seen a series drop in quality as much as Toriko. Toriko post TS basically devolved into DBZ, with over the top action & hype, but little substance. Pair arc was when it became noticeable. I still can’t belive Sunny, Coco and Zebra’s character arcs which pertained to their dreams got offscreened.

Toriko gets a 4/10, only because the world building is godly

That ending was amazing. Really captured the essence of Toriko.

How was the ending trash? The wedding & final chapter were really well written. Yeah it sadly rushed a lot to get there but it wrapped up nicely. What powerups were nonsensical? They are almost always explained in great detail or heavily foreshadowed so that's virtually impossible to claim. 3 gourmet demons or at least more than 1 was heavily implied during the cooking festival and was obvious when we first saw Blue. Nothing new and it was clearly foreshadowed.

Toriko was always over the top action though. It dropped in quality for me when they skipped the cooking matches but man the manga was entertaining.

After the Bambina arc this series really took a nosedive in my opinion, and toward the whole whale king nonsense I found it became far to convoluted for it's own good. Outside of Midora (who was awesome) I didn't think any of the characters really stood out all that well. Acaica was a lame final boss, and while the battle had lots of highlights I found it started to ware it's welcome. But I'd be lying If I said I didn't have fun with the series, I hold the first thirty or so odd volumes in fairly high regard and there was always a hype moment to keep me at least marginally invested. I doubt I'll ever revisit Toriko, but I don't regret reading it in the slightest.

And that was Toriko. I really enjoyed this adventure, despite the inevitable highs and lows a serie of such a length has. Shimabukuro created an incredible rich and colorful world, and the ride was awesome. The second saga felt a little rushed and in some parts really confusing, but I don’t think this was the mangakas fault..
What can I say, I had fun, it was epic and I would have enjoyed some more. Toriko deserves in my opinion an 8 out of 10.

A massive lore dump in the very final chapter, huh. But I'm glad we learned more about gourmet demons and their colors. Better now than never, haha. The last chapter was the last opportunity to do it in the main series. ;p

Toriko and Komatsu ventured into outer space to look for space ingredients. Epic.

I really, really enjoyed Toriko. Human World Act was absolute shounen manga cinema. Gourmet World Act was a little disappointing with how many things happened offscreen (I really wanted to see Sani and Livebearer's hunt for EARTH...), or were simply rushed. They were rushed in an alright way (I've seen far worse examples of rushed content), but one could easily notice how the pacing became way faster compared to the previous Act, or even earlier Gourmet World story arcs.

Nevertheless, this manga was very entertaining. Unique idea and setting, great characters, funny gags, creative adventures, awesome art. :) Toriko has easily become one of my favorite shounen manga.

With thanks to all ingredients - thank you for the meal. ;))
