Oh yeah, begining rant..
Why? Why is it always the girls who; get abducted and/or the first to fall into a trap?
The girls associated with the leaf seem to be simply pretty sidekicks:
- Konan gets abducted
- Hinata has been abducted
- Sakura (in anime) has been abducted
- Ino (in anime) has fallen into traps
- Rin has been abducted
- Kurenai was the first to fall vunerable vs Itachi and Kisame
- Tsunade threw herself into a foolish trap vs Orochimaru and Kabuto
- Kushina has been abducted
Don't you know this by now Kishi's a sexist.
Well regarding Hinata well she was 3 at the time and sleep during a supposed treaty because of Kumo luring Konoha into a false step of security.
Sakura really never used her brain until Shippuuden even then she stilll barely used it.
Well besides Shikamaru the rest of team 10 was pathetic
Rin was captured by the guy using the cloak who ambushed them because she was the med-nin.
True, Kurenai got taken down first but let me point out a couple things:
1) She was facing the Akatsuki one who has the sharinhax and he slaughter Uchiha clan with help but still.
2) Kakashi was sent into a coma facing the same person.
Tsunade has a very short temper and anger clouds your vision and rational thought.
I agree.;)
I know Kishi' claims he's no good with girls, but seriously, too amny have fallen through the cracks, in so many cliche ways.
The girls aren't at fault for the best part and can do well, still, it's always them.
Why couldn't it have been Yahikio, the group leader, who got abducted?
Why couldn't it have been Obito, the one who was struggling, who got abducted?
The girls, like most shounen girl, have the most irratic minds too.
Maybe you are girl and you get easily irritated and i won't deny that Kishi isn't giving his women much time in the light but you are being a little irrational too.
From the three of them Conan was the weaker so it's natural she was the best target for abduction.
Nagato has the "super eyes" thing and would have killed anyone getting close, while Yahiko also being the leader probably had the best protection from his group making him a hard target.
And anyway writers are affected by how things are in reality too. Yes girls in manga can be written to be super powerful and shit since there are no rules but the truth is, girls aren't powerful and that affects a writer even in a fantasy story.
And no am not trying to be sexist am just stating a biological fact. In the same way a man is less flexible than a woman, a woman has less powerful muscles in her body.
Even in reality criminals target girls more as possible victims for abduction or stealing because they expect less powerful resistance. It's simply a matter of logic. And the logic of the real world effects the imaginary world this people create.
The last thing is the matter of protection. Men have a natural instinct of expressing there love by trying to satisfy the girl they like and protect it. It's in our genes. We can't help but feel like we want to play the protectors. We feel like we want to kick anyones ass that tries to hurt our girl or jump in-frond of a bullet to save her.
Girls do not have that instinct. Sure they want no harm to come to the one they love but it's not there natural instinct to play the protectors. There express there love with other ways.
So you understand that it makes more sense in sentimental value having a girl with a knife on her throat so you can see the reaction from the male since the male feels the bigger anguish possible. Males tent to put the female life before there own easily(well if they really feel for her that is).
For example why didn't they just thought "Jeez is horrible losing Conan but Yahiko is the leader and all so his most important and better let her die than killing him". Yahiko immediately had no dilemma but Nagato completely understood why. No need for words. Conan was a girl they loved(even if it wasn't erotic love) and as natural males, her life for them comes first.
some right, some confusing, some ??!?!@!<?
I may agree with most of what you say but the next logical question would be us to ask for facts to support what you say.
I may 'feel' most of what you say is right, but I'm greatly greatly biased because I'm male and what you said touched me somewhere inside. For others though, that may not be the case.
But one thing does remain as fact though from what you said, we place and use logic as an undeniable ... that we'll always resort to in times of need. Logically, what Yahiko did was correct. - If I die, she's saved.
Simple yes. Execution, flawed.

How am I being irrational?
Feel free to dissagree with be, yet I'm not belittling meal or feamle characters.
I'm not 'irritated' by the girls getting little exposure, I'm simply stating missed opportunities, i.e. trying to be constructive.
If the girls continued to progress at the slow rate they do, I wouldn't drop the series, this is simply a discussion on what I have seen.
All the misshaps I have stated are indeed facts, stuff that did indeed happen.
Ladies can/do have the same 'instincs' as men and a character is a character, regardless of gender, they can all have quirks.
Your argument seems to be males do this and females do the other, this isn't my point, I'm simply highlighting chiche's.
On top of this, I stated that I would have prefered Yahiko getting abducted as being the group leader, this would have threw everyone into more of a panic, perhaps they woundn't have performed so well and Yahiko could have died a better death.
Yet this is what fanfiction is for I suppose?
I think i explained why Conan was the obvious choice and why the author uses such as you call them clishes. My goal wasn't to explain what men and women do but why a writer many times is using a certain way of presenting things.
Dragoon402 said: Great episode. I don't know about everyone else but i thought Yahiko's death was fantastic and had me on the edge of my seat.
I felt the same way seeing it.
Pain and Hanzo fight was great....a lot better then the fight against Naruto in 167 cause it kept the seriousness of the situation in tact by not adding comical scenes.
if everyone who lost a friend went crazy this world would be, oh wait it is that way
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
this episode sort of made my eyes all teary :')
i love this <3
and seriously when will Danzo die.. he's annoying the shit out of me.. xDDD
and im guessing the story will be about sasuke taking revenge for his brother now..
(since i dont read the manga) sheesh... and he'll be manipulated by obito juz like how nagato was.. sigh
So good of an episode... this was easily the best episode of the Pain arc and one of the best backgrounds of the whole series, possibly only second to Kakashi gaiden. I was about to drop Shippuuden, I'm glad I didn't yet, I guess I will when this arc is finished, I've been tired of the story (even if this arc wasn't bad and Nagato is a pretty interesting character), but at least it will end in a good note, for me.
SolDeMav said: Nagato was a punk for just standing there. He shoulda used his ninjutsu from the beginning
Yeah... Hate to be mean, but I kind of blame him a little for Yahiko's death a bit just 'cause he picked up the freaking kunai. I mean, why not just whip around and throw it at Hanzo as fast as he can? He seemed to do a pretty good job of taking people out after he went beserk... (Though I guess he needed a "catalyst" for that... Meh.)
Anyway, great episode. The animation was pretty nice in this ep, too.
I didn't quite understand that thing with Danzou and Hanzou... How would Danzou benefit by joining forces with Hanzou when it comes to "steal" the Hokage title?... But, anyway, I loved that backstory

Yep!! As long as you can fight, you fight. I mean, the 2 of them can took out all those little shits.
rokuro said: Nagato is such an EMO... Yahiko's death was his fault, but he blames on EVERYONE!
BTW young Konan looked very cute.
It wasn't really his fault. Of course, the pressure didn't give him enough time to think.
Even now, man. Konan is such a beauty. Funny because I don't find her attractive back then, but now, she is the most attractive to me.
Hanzo and Danzo are facking bastards... This episode was very emotional for me.. I got chills when Yahiko died.. And when Hanzo give choice to Nagato to choose between Konan and Yahiko.. I remembered when Kakashi done same thing to Sakura. Like he showed them how the war works. But Nagato was actually in thet situation... :/ ahh i feel so sad for him..:D
“I love heroes, but I don't want to be one. Do you even know what a hero is!? For example, you have some meat. Pirates will feast on the meat, but the hero will distribute it among the people! I want to eat the meat!” - Monkey D. Luffy
That was a really good episode... I understand where Nagato is coming from, he's just sorta going about it the wrong way. :p I hope Naruto can convince him it doesn't have to be this way. :)
Ouch,Yahiko seemed like a great guy :(.Why,Nagato could have used the Rinnegan before Yahiko killed himself :(((((((.This scene was honestly sadder than Naruto vs Sasuke at the finale of Naruto.
Come on man, where is that Noragami season 3 masterpiece. We want it, Bones!
man what the fuck danzo was asshole all the way and this hanzo was an asshole even bigger than him. i hope he got shredded into pieces later on by nagato. Nagato that was really painful indeed, first losing his parents by the leaf ninja and then getting his bestfriend killed in front of him. and also wow he is so powerful, he survived that attack by hanzo and then summoned a badass monster. wow
