Well in some cases it may be a straight up screentone. Mangas do sometimes have screentone backgrounds, like with repeated settings such as cities or schools. But in more straightforward comics like Dragonball or One Piece the backgrounds are always drawn whether by the lead artist or his hired hands. I agree, though. It really does need to be one's original composition. |
