What do you do about spiders in your house? I saw previous threads about it but no poll.

I'm a catch and release kind of gal (if they're in reach) Spiders don't bother me although with kids I'm a little more cautious of them and quicker to get them out of the house.

Also, I like Drow a lot. I just think they're neat.

Discuss!

Sexy spiders in spoiler.

Gratz, Lau; you made me post it again:

I mean, it's a food for thought for sure. I somehow refuse to believe that those are allegedly one of the best evolution can offer. THERE ARE 1000 TIMES MORE INSECTS OUTSIDE. Pretty obvious that it is not food they are after. The government is not even trying to cover it up anymore.

Didn't realize that attaching half of the female body to a spider = a sexy spider kek..😏

As for the topic, I rarely see spiders, maybe I just killed them all already ...or they are just scared of my presence, idk.

I'm scared of spiders. I'd ask my fiancé to kill them, because I have absolutely no empathy for these monsters, but he's too kind and would catch it and release it. I couldn't handle it possibly escaping and crawling on him, or worse, running away and hiding somewhere in the house... So I have to be brave and kill it myself. Luckily I also have cats who like to catch and eat all kinds of bugs.

Dead skin and particles? Are you kidding me? He could be catching juicy flies, mosquitoes, and whatnot outside. And why the bathroom? Why not the living room or the bedroom? It has a lot more dead skin in there. It is even separated from the toilet. Pretty suspicious, just saying.

Catch and release if they are in my bedroom or other unwanted places, I hate killing animals and since I keep my house clean they usually never show up.

They also catch other animals such as roaches and other pests. I'm used to live in rural areas out of town and they've never caused me an issue, I've never been bitten by one and I always check my shoes before wearing them, etc. That's all you need to do.

It depends on the size and whereabouts they are. If it's a tiny money spider dangling in the middle of the room somewhere, I catch the end of the web and move it somewhere else. Bigger ones I catch with a glass & dvd slip case and dispatch the via the nearest portal to the outside. I never kill them. I can't bring myself to do what my dad used to do though... Catch them with his hands😬

Usually, I'll catch and release it. With the more venomous spiders (like the brown recluse), that method does become a bit trickier since I subscribe to the aphorism "Better safe than sorry". But encountering 'em is pretty rare, thankfully

It's funny, at my workplace for some reason we just have a ton of spiders and I am the only person who works there who isn't shitting themselves when they see one.

I saw a pretty impressive black jumping spider on the cash register 2 days ago. named it Betty because of its size I assumed it was female haha.

When I get to work tomorrow I better not hear that Betty got Squished >:c

@BJuice you are pretty spooky. If I were a spider I'd avoid you, too.

@Illuminatli My cat takes care of most the bugs and spiders in my condo, too. But we're staying with my inlaws and for whatever reason he doesn't have the same drive to hunt them here.

@Fate_Saber88 I'm the same way. Anything I can catch I'll release. I've never been able to catch flies though. Luckily I don't see them too often but I just have to ignore those.

@Lightworker I could never do that with my hands! I won't even touch the web if I can help it. Cup and notecard is my method.

I also always put my cups away top side down since I heard they like to live in up turned cups.

@Starchaser I think we have some poisonous spiders around here too. I'm not especially worried about them for myself but I am worried about them biting the kids.

@Mycuppatea My sister and coworkers always asked me to take care of them, lol

@mwinner I hope that works out for you!

@_Nette_ Please let us know how Betty is doing when you get back to work!

Catch and release, if I can. Otherwise, I'll usually ignore them. I mostly only see tiny spiders inside anyway. Occasionally, I'll see something bigger in the garage, but I honestly don't care if they're out there, so I leave them alone.

Spiders are terrifying! I think it's a primal thing.

I'm honestly thinking to create a device specifically to suck in spiders from a distance, so u dont have to get too close to them, then it can gently push them back out so you can re-release them in some far off corner or on a house plant. Like a hand vacuum with an extended and firm nozzle. ppl really shouldn't release them outside btw :/

I could not care less about spiders tbh. They are arachnids and are not capable of proper pain simulation or complex thought. It's like if a supreme alien race teleported in and killed us instantly, I'd consider that fair and merciful.
Honestly I don't think I have the moxie to pick up a spider and move around with it, just the thought of having one on my body or even near me makes my skin crawl.

Normally I would just ignore it but I lost my medicine and now I swear I see these dots that look like ultrafast spiders all across my messy room at least once a day in my peripherals. It bothers me so much because there is also the possibility of it being a mouse. So if I see a spider it dies so I stop seeing it. I hate fast things.

if a spider looks at all in any way like a poisonous species, like it could be mistaken for one at a glance across the room, i will murder it. otherwise i dont care abt them being there whatsoever.

I catch spiders, centipedes, cockroaches, wasps, flys etc...it’s very easy. You just put a cup over them and slide a thin piece of cardboard under and carry it out. The worst I have here is wolf spiders which are related to tarantulas. I also have several highly deadly spiders.

If the spider happens to be carrying eggs squishing them would just be embedding their eggs into the carpet to hatch later.

I haven’t seen many spiders inside ever since the house centipedes took inside. Though I miss the spiders because these house centipedes are freaky as fuck how fast they are and how big they look.

The only spider that ever freaked me out was the size of my five-year-old niece's hand at the time. I threw a book at it. Small spiders don't usually bother me, I won't go out of my way to touch them, but I don't run from them.

Kill it if it becomes annoying, but most of the time I ignore it. Most of the spiders that come by my house are tiny so I'm not worried about them too much.

I usually kill them if I get the chance. I don't like to cause undue suffering to animals, even spiders, but I am so petrified that a spider will crawl on me if I let it freely wander around my house. I am so frightened by spiders that seeing a sizable one leaves me paranoid for the rest of the day. Therefore, I like to kill it and dispose of that so that I feel safer.
