To me, a bad ending is one that genuinely doesn't wrap up anything. Slice of life anime tend to be bad about this, their endings are pretty much regular episodes. They should at least feel like a goodbye.

Wonder Egg Priority. Why the fuck would you introduce that many plot points in the last few episodes and not even resolve any of them. Also half of the last episode was just recap XD

Probably Digimon Adventure 02. The whole finale was so ridiculous.

From the top of my head, all I can think of is the ending to Charlotte.

Oddly enough, I've seen a lot of people think positively of the show, and its fine I guess. I rated it a 6/10 - Not the best. But the ending is what lowered its score to such a degree.

Gantz.
Evangelion show.
The Promised Neverland.

All three bring very poor conclusions to otherwise great stories.

Luckily, The End of Evangelion is decent and Gantz gets a good ending in its manga.
I don't know about The Promised Neverland manga.

Also, Yosuga no Sora.

Oh my god the ending of Yagate Kimi ni Naru made me so angry. Everything was building up to an important moment and then it just ended during preparations.

And honestly, after reading the manga, things finally start to happen and the story becomes quite good after that point. It was really a shame the anime ended there.

holy fuck the ending of 22/7 is the stupidest shit ever. What a way to introduce a super creepy plotline right at the very end only for the main cast to completely forget about it and end with a random live concert lmao what the fuck

If you want more in depth answer, I would say oreimo because the visual novel has the best ending, but the anime only ended with

Mirai Nikki: Redial
It totally ruins the awesome ending of the original anime.
Apparently it was always intended to be part of it, but the manga wasn't done yet?
Either way, I'm really glad I didn't watch it for months after finishing the anime.

Domesting Girlfriend never ended. That's just a bonding exercise from the author to get both Team Hina and Team Rui to come together and hate the same thing.

Elfen Lied comes to mind as far as poorly written endings go with how rushed, abrupt and needlessly open-ended it was. The ending of the first Higurashi anime is up there too for the characters just brushing off a major revelation for unimportant personal drama.

Elfen lied(anime). Like a total abrupt end out of nowhere, when it seemed like more than half of plot still needed to be shown.

Gekidol, the ending made me drop the whole show from an 8/10 to a 5/10 while normally endings don't bother me that much. Basically the ending is super confusing and doesn't resolve everything, so while the plots in earlier episodes had the potential to be good they never actually become good because they're just forgotten about. No other show I've watched comes close. (Although the terrible ending has made it memorable and now it's my go-to answer for any wasted potential thread, so if that attention is what they were going for I guess they succeeded.)

I'm honestly surprised nobody has mentioned Akame ga Kill. Also nearly a decade later I'm still conflicted on the ending of Darker Than Black season 2 but I wouldn't exactly call it bad.

Any anime in which the protagonist and/or his love interest die/separate at the end. What's the point of building up so much just to have it all collapsed eventually?
For example: 4gatsu, Akame ga Kill, Guilty Crown, Evangelion, Fate (all of them), Angel Beats, Bokumachi, Plastic Memories, Elfenlied, AdNoah.

OOOf that's hard since almost every anime has a bad ending. If aots ending had come out then it would easily be the worse, but for now, I think Promised neverland takes it.

Not technically the end of an anime, but the end of aincrad arc in SAO:

"So why did you trap everyone in this death game?"

"I don't even remember anymore"

... Seems legit.

'Kirito, now six thousand people are waking up in the real world again'

'and what about those who died in this game?'

'they really died'

'hmm, I see. Okay then, see you around'

Obvious answers:
-Wonder Egg Priority (mostly the special, the actual show's ending was a bit rushed, but whatevs)
The Promised Neverland (does it count if I dropped the second season after five episodes)

Disappointing endings (not bad per say...but I didn't like them)
-BNA
- Banana Fish ( Ash deserved better :(:(:( )

Controversial???
I actually kinda like the first ending to Evangelion. I get that the original watchers from the 90s were probably pissed since it looked low-budget. But having the show's ending, the End of Evangelion ending, and the Rebuild ending- the original Evangelion ending feels like part of a choose-your-Adventure book. It's a very positive ending (even if it's not a definite ending like the Rebuild movies). Shinji gets to be happy and congratulated on a blue big ball!
The after-credits bit for the English Dub is hilarious tho.

that alone is not enough to make me hate it but the thing they did before to is what pissed me off so much. They brought pain to all the people around then, friends they made along the way, Who sacrificed their own time and energy for that brat only to end like that. At least see through it to the end ffs instead of that half assed ending.

School Days, tbh.

Well, it seems a bit satisfactory at first, but actually it has nothing to do with the whole plot and makes it more meaningless. To be fair, as disappointed as the whole series itself.

I know what you mean, a lot of characters hurted to achieve that ending. But it is a romance-harem story. So in the end, the characters that the mc didn't choose will be hurted.

Mahou Sensou. I cannot even comprehend that ending and I can't acknowledge that as an "ending". It doesn't even suit the word "ending" since that scene makes people come out with a thousand questions.

Prison School the manga (a complete troll of the readers. The mangaka was seriously pissed. Amazingly, he is still in the industry.)
Koi Wa Ameagari No You Ni (I've heard some argue that it was actually good but to set a premise and ignore it half way in is just bad writing or an editor's decision. If you don't want to go there don't go there. It was just a bait and switch.)
Oreimo - (It went off the deep end. Get married but end it after ruining all of your friendships or potential relationships. Ass pull of the highest order)
Almost all romcom harems but Haganai stands out.
