Looks like Zuka is gonna be getting a voice role. Midori is already helping with research. Now if Misa gets hired to do CG work on the planes, that would mean all the girls are working on this new anime together.

Onto the new series! At first I was expecting Shirobako to be about 5 main girls seriously making anime together, just by themselves, but I'm so glad it turned out differently. The way it is right now feels like watching actual people doing their job, which is way more engaging.

New opening is okay, although I like the previous one better. Still, surprised to hear Masami Okui's voice, that's another pretty oldschool choice, just like with Yoko Ishida previously. I love it! New ending is super catchy, and more interesting to watch than the one with dancing dolls :>

That is a lot of stuff to worry about with her new position 😱

Seems like it's heading in the direction of where all of the girls will be working together on this anime project. It's not their original work, but it's a start 😃
I really want to see Shizuka succeed this time 😊

So now we'll get to see the pre-production of the next series, with a slightly reshuffled team, and an anxious Miyamori promoted to Production Manager. I'm curious to see how they'll adapt this manga that so far sounds a lot like Girls und Panzer (with fighter jets).

I predict that there will be a time-skip or a montage spanning multiple months at some point, if Shirobako aims to cover the release of the final episode of The Third Aerial Girls Squad.

I'd like to know how Exodus sold/performed overall in terms of BD sales and the like...I guess it must've been successful since no one seemed to be that worried/anxious at the studio. Maybe they'll bring up numbers in a future episode.

Aoi being overwhelmed by the number of responsibilities she suddenly has for Third Aerial Girls Squad, as well as the original creator seemingly not caring about what they do with the anime, are both likely foreshadowing of shit hitting the fan later. I have a feeling the original creator's going to be very upset by something that Musashi does with the property/a decision the director makes.

I hope Shizuka gets a role in the anime.

So here we go again, this time with an adaption instead of an original. That meeting though... they should've made a short protocol and let him confirm that he said everything goes.

Aoi Miyamori's promoted to be the new project manager after Honda officially left the company to become a confectioner, and Musashino Animation in the new year is already busy with having to plan and prepare for an anime adaptation of a popular manga series with cute girls and sci-fi/action, called 'Third Aerial Girls Squad'. Given how many PAs and other people left the company for various reasons and Aoi's now promoted to basically bring the director's vision to reality with possibly one of the biggest roles in the project where she's involved everywhere, she has to deal with a ton more responsibilities of turning this into a success with losing people from the previous project to help her along the way. She's not the only one with new responsibilities as Yumi Iguchi is now in charge of the character designs instead of Rinko as she volunteered to step down for this project to learn more as an animator after being inspired by Sugie from the previous project.

Going to be quite the chaotic but fun project for them if everything turns out well at the end, but it is also interesting to note how disinterested the mangaka of the original work seems to be given the lack of involvement over the project and attending meetings, although the mangaka could also be legitimately too busy to focus on the little things like how the anime would be.

Kind of reminds of the Tower of God adaptation since SIU provided the source material but wasn't directly involved as much with the project so the anime staff took some liberties of its own when deciphering the material and adapting it to what it feels is the best way, which did cause some direction issues for the actual anime for readers of the manhwa, despite the anime still being entertaining enough.

Also, the clouds conversation was pretty interesting. Very subtle, but fascinating when thinking about it as it makes you appreciate the smaller details of anime production and how visuals are drawn sometimes to fit the atmosphere and tone, or bring the best out of it with the most subtle things like the natural environment.

This episode was quite interesting to see, since we get to see the process of how a manga gets adapted into an anime all the way from the beginning. And it was no coincidence that Aoi got chosen as the Desk Editor! She's born for this.
