Week 03 Update Complete.

Impressive showings from both Make Heroine and Nier Automata, particularly from the former given its a new show and is currently no.2 on MAL score for the whole season. After a promising start, Shikanoko took quite a significant dip this week as did Isekai Suicide squad. Nige Jouzu seems like another promising show to keep an eye on while Alya-san took a slight hit compared to last week.

Make Heroine and NieR tie for anime of the week this time around.

Week 02 Update Complete.

Majority of shows have now aired with most having their first score changes as well. Make Heroine was yet another new show to impressively start above an 8 with Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi also advancing enough to be at the cusp of it as well. Unfortunately we saw a big drop for Shikanoko making it fall into the 7s, ditto for Suicide Squad which falls all the way into the 6s. Our highest MAL score is very low this season at just 8.37 for Oshi no Ko which also saw a drop however Russia-dere was able to make a positive movement on its first attempt.

@Vopyy, really sorry, ONAs are not really beholden to any kind of schedule, even if this one particular show is committed to it, it'd be strange to accept it and ignore others, so we can't do this for now.

@xLoop @_Alek_ Thanks for the suggestion, while the weekly format worked well for recording purposes i will admit i had some issues when it came to closing out the season, some shows ended on week 12 and others week 13, and the aim was to have all shows starting and ending on similar number of weeks, while we could put an N/A for a show at its start that didn't air, giving a show that ended on week 12 a score on week 13 also for uniformity did seem a bit off as it messed with its 'true MSP' score, so i will admit i will rethink through this approach that can deliver the best of both worlds.

i agree with the comment under me. hello thou i'm new here feels like i'm diving more and more into anime and recently manga/manhwa so why not get in a club as well.

I personally preferred the older format where week number was associated with the specific episode air. It made it easier to track the impact of each episode on the score which I feel is better especially for archival purposes.

It also was clear at a glance if multiple episodes aired together. I could screenshot the MSP of a show and share it with someone who has no idea about this club and they'd understand but with the new format they might be confused because of mismatch of no.of weeks and episode count.

I can see some pros of time progression like members count, uniformity that would allow concurrent show comparisons, easier to automate etc but those are less significant metrics to me long term.

Anyways, that's just my two cents. This is still my favorite MAL club and I appreciate all the efforts you all put in to maintain this club <3

Week 01 Update Complete.

Early days but not too surprising to see Oshi no Ko with the highest MAL score from the get go, although some might argue it was expected to be a bit higher. Shikanoko Nokonoko, Russiadere and Wistoria are all new shows starting off with great scores above an 8, hopefully they can retain that momentum over the course of the season. Kami no Tou although having a good score might have expected to start off better given its a sequel, not sure if there were any expectations on Isekai Suicide Squade but its an indifferent start for now.

The 2 shows that aired last week all did really well with their first score changes and Shinmai Ossan Boukensha takes the first anime of the week award of the season.

Week 13 Spring and Week 00 Summer Update Complete.

Just the two shows have already stated airing in Summer, both Shy 2 and Shinmai Ossan with low unspectacular starts.

As for the last week of Spring we saw big gains for Kenka Dokugaku and Girls Band Cry concluded on an extremely impressive 8.5. This season also saw the best of Hibike Euphonium since the franchise began and despite a mixed showing overall both heavy hitters Mushoku Tensei and Kimetsu no Yaiba finish on positive notes. Analysis will follow in a few weeks where we'll have a more clearer picture of the season.
