Shoot! Goal to the Future

Shooto! When I'm with you, I can play better, because I love the way we work together! Be my gay buddy in soccer so that I can date you on the playing field! Can I? Please Shooto? PRETTY PLEASE???

This is a prime masterpiece example of how to destroy the semblance of the original source material, and for one, Aoki Densetsu Shoot! was at least a decent 90s soccer/football show that exemplifies its existence of anime trying anything to thrive back in its heyday.

But Goal to the Future? More like Gay to the Heartstrings, because whoever was scriptwriting this original show most likely had a penchant ... for BL stories in sports, he/she succeeded for the most part. Giving us all the cringefest of a soap opera that mixes both human feelings and emotions, and sports altogether to create an experience that'll send your eyes and ears crying and bleeding onion tears to the point that you can't unsee it.

Forget about what the synopsis is trying to tell you, it's just a premise. The real one is infused in every nook and cranny of "I'm lovin' it" levels of insanity and disbelief of how a soccer show can go all-out gayness, overloaded with the fact that everything else was non-existent from the character development, worse than subpar animation, the generic OST...just about everything is plain abominable. Hooray for over-the-top BL-ness involving soccer balls to SHOOTO! Doorraayyaahhhhh!!!

You can betcha that Ao Ashi blows this out of the water, easily.

This anime could be a 7 if the writing wasn't so bad:
-The blond guy says shoot at the end of every sentence and everyone just laughs at everything with a super annoying laugh.
-They all cry about their problems that seem to be solved just because a friend tells him to stop being sad like bruh what is happening here.
- Let's not talk about the super gay friendship, it's ok to be gay just don't force it like that you made it look like you were trying to prove a point instead of actually creating a gay character, looked super artificial.
- ENOUGH WITH THE ANNOYING LAUGHS ... PLS I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH, EVERYTIME THEY LAUGHED I WANTED TO STOP WATCHING ty.

Overall the animation and the plot are not bad, only the lines of every character are horrible.

That's the new name for this anime. This show is so ridiculous its laughable. I would literally be cracking up each episode by how dramatic and over the top it was. There is ZERO character/team building because the characters fight EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. I swear there was not one episode where the red head guy didn't try to fight someone, or the other characters were starting drama. It didn't even feel like a sports anime anymore, it felt like a drama romance.

The lead guy is so bland and they act like he's soooo good ... at soccer, but he does nothing stand outish during games. All the red head guy does is scream, like he literally has no brain cells. He just tries to scream and fight people. The upperclassmen are so petty and childish, there were multiple episodes of the other teammates BEGGING them to rejoin the team and they were starting drama all because they didn't get the starting positions. The boy with the glasses and grey hair has a weird hidden crush on his pal with the red hair and I hate this because it's forced BL that makes no sense. The coach is cringy and acts like he's the shit but he barely helps the team. I swear this show is an entire melodrama I'm laughing just writing this review, thinking about how every single episode there are several fights. I love the cliche sports anime where there's drama on the team and the players have to learn how to team build, but even after the spa episode they STILL were fighting every episode, at one point I would just start rolling my eyes when a player would start yelling or creating drama within the school.

There is barely talk about soccer, just some shitty game play segments with horrible animation. I'm not one to be picky on animation, but this animation was so bad. There were literally scenes where the characters would be frozen in place for several minutes and they would make the wind look like it was moving to create the effect of running, but it looked so bad.

The characters are the worst thing about this show though. They all mean, bland, pretentious and some aggressive. The cliches done in this show are not done well, it's so cringy. This is a show to watch and make fun of when you're bored.
