Shuumatsu no Walküre

The gods of the world—from Greek to Norse to Hindu mythology—gather every one thousand years to make one important decision: whether or not to wipe out mankind. Repulsed by humanity's selfishness, the council unanimously votes to destroy all humans. But before the decree is enacted, Brunhilde, one of the 13 Valkyries of Valhalla, interrupts the meeting to give mankind a chance at survival.

Brunhilde proposes the idea of enacting Ragnarök, an event in which the strongest 13 mortal warriors fight against 13 gods in one-on-one matches. Although the trial is ridiculed by the gods, the demigod takes advantage of their pride and forces them into an agreement. However, Brunhilde herself must recruit the mightiest heroes throughout humanity's thousand-year history and guide them to victory before they meet their untimely demise.

Firstly, I'd like to preface this as someone who has NOT read the manga yet, but I do plan to eventually. This anime is actually genuinely really good, and I think you should give it a shot. When you first go into it, it feels ridiculous. The concept of actual historical figures and gods fighting to the death is strange and weird, the designs for said historical figures and gods make you laugh. But as you go...it's insane. Like in a good way. You get hit with emotions more and more, every time it starts to just feel silly again, you're thrown back into it ... all. Genuinely a good time watching, and I highly recommend it. This makes me WANT to start the manga, and I absolutely will.

Mixed Feelings

Start of review is in paragraph two.

Record of Ragnarok is a series about how the gods of different mythologies came together a LONG LONG time ago and were deliberating whether to wipe the human race from existence or to let them carry on as they were. It was deemed that a competition of God Vs. Human would take place. Then show centers around this theme and I honestly had my hopes elevated pretty high because of the concept and I had some of the gods, and humans that duel told to me.

Now I will start by saying that this show is by no means horrendous. ... I actually like the bouts that were chosen in the first season, but one or two things they do in carrying out the show really drag it down and ultimately turn it from a potential 8 or 9 to a borderline 5 or 6.

First I will focus on one thing I think they did well. The pairings that were chosen were great for me. The coolest of the first season for me was the god of gods Vs the god of man. (trying not to directly spoil it) Something I think takes away from the show is that they pretty obviously used looping. I understand looping is needed and I generally don't have a problem with it but in this series it feels like it actually takes away from the quality of the show.

One more thing I really liked about the show is the short backgrounds of the specific god or human that is front and center. Sometimes they focus more on one compared to the other but that itself was certainly okay with me. I did actually get curious would one of the human mini stories and did my own bit of mini research and it seems the creators did actually do a good job bringing the human stories to the screen.

Another thing I think took away from the first season is the way a couple of those fights ended... I realized it is God Vs Human and some things are to be expected but maaaaaan.... A couple of those endings while I understand how it worked out felt extremely empty for a lack of a better word. It felt like there was sooo much build up to what was supposed to be a fantastic finale in one way or another and the way that was chosen just took all the wind out of my sails... I don't really know how else to say it...

Record of Ragnarök is certainly an okay watch if you like fighting style Anime. It definitely fills a need for that person that just wants their action fix. Maybe because I have seen so many Shounen, Action Anime with a ton of memorable fights that were done with such impact its skewed my ability to appreciate the way the creator chose to close out their fights... I would still give this season a go if you are curious and then you can make it through or not based on your own opinions

Take a extremely simple propose and do it very well and you have a hype and fun show to watch, make it look cool and you are already adding way more points to that, so what happens when you remove 80% of an already simple propose ? You have this garbage.

Snv is already beyond simple, famous human figures vs gods from different religion/mitology and the Manga is very fun, with some good backgrounds and a lot of creativity but by far the thing that make this manga shiny is his visuals, but what if we take this completely, i mean COMPLETELY, AND WITH COMPLETELY I ... M LITERALLY SAYING COMPLETELY,then you have the anime version, is literally a slideshow, you CANT find this interesting if you are above 9yo and I say this when my cousin(11yo) find this shit completely garbage and would sleep watching it

It's just insane how Netflix has money and make shit like this while people are making manga animations for geek rap or for fun and completely dumpstering them.

You guys should be more serious about this adaptation how can you guys give this a 7 when they ruined your shit.
