Kaizoku Oujo

A decade ago, a tragic shipwreck separated Fena Houtman from her childhood friend Yukimaru and took her father's life. Now, at age 23, she is trapped on an island and is doomed to spend the rest of her life selling herself to men. On the night she is to be forcibly wed to a client, Fena hatches a plan to escape from her employers, but two old acquaintances unexpectedly intervene and help her run away.

The three make haste for the open sea and land upon Goblin Island—a mysterious place that a clan of fierce warriors call home. It is there that Fena learns that her father's ill-fated final journey at sea was in search of a place called "Eden," the location of something important that he had to protect. With nothing but a clear crystal as a clue, Fena is tasked with finding this place, as she is the only person who can do so.

While still contemplating the search for what her father left behind, Fena reunites with Yukimaru, who encourages her to take up the quest. Now the captain of a seven-person crew, Fena must navigate the high seas in search of Eden. But as uncanny groups begin to target her, the perilous journey proves to be even more challenging than it previously seemed.

This anime is beautiful in its own way. The title mentioning 'Pirate' set certain expectations, then the story itself develops into something much more meaningful and layered than a typical pirate tale. However this anime is not focused on the mystery of the world or specifically tell the story of each island they go to. But it's just a season with 12 eps telling who is Fena. Watching this turn the fairy tale vibes on.

Story - 7/10
Fena's journey from wanting to escape an island that would trap her to embracing her destiny as a pirate is compelling. She's innocent yet brave, cheerful yet determined, ... and genuinely both inside and out. As an anime with just 12 eps, it delivers a complete story within its constraints, tho I found myself wanting more of the adventure aspects :D

Themes - 10/10
It was mesmerizing hearing "Vise Versa" when Fena dancing T_T I love that vibes, thanks for the song.

Characters - 8/10
Love them all, the Goblin Knights, they're fun and trust Fena, especially Yukimaru ^^ He's cool and nonchalant, but actually cares for Fena that much.

Animation - 9/10
So gorgeous and impressive.

Overall - 8/10

Mixed Feelings

When this first came out I was extremely excited for it the title alone sold me.I shelved it for a bit as I finished other shows so it could have my full attention, then I started it. Man was I blown away with the action animation being put on the table, the story hooked me in quickly.The princess was my favorite character throughout the show, she was level head and had funny jokes along with the rest of the cast. The villains at first were great and sexy too, their decision making and aura were awesome. But as the show went more I found myself ... asking more questions than were being answered and things that I thought the show would explain never were leaving a lot of plot hole. The last 3 episodes while again having great animation fell flat for me as people started make bad and worse decisions. Then the villains' whole point became muckey too me. It is a good watch but left a lot to be desired in the end.

What a terrible story full of platitudes. You have the choice: should this world be destroyed, or should it continue to exist? The fate of your mercenaries is predictable; they will all die, but you can change that by making them “holy” so that they drift indefinitely on this strange phantom ark between this world and the next, accepting only the purest souls so that the world can be reborn. The whole story is just very emotional without pursuing any particular goal. Just the contradiction between virginity and the descendants of your bloodline. Surprise, surprise, when you bring children into the world, you are no ... longer a virgin... I could puke.
