Hametsu no Mars

After watching this, I just felt that I simply HAVE to write a review for this masterpiece. Why is this a masterpiece, you ask? Simple, because it's the only Sci-fi/Horror anime which ever made me laugh so hard.

Story:
The story... Wait, what was the story again? Apart from whatever that was said in the synopsis, there is pratically no storyline at all, it's just about a bunch of girls working for the police fighting off the 'Ancients' alongside a guy who was forced to wear a suit developed by his father to fight the 'Ancients', and how much killings they saw on the way while delivering ... the bits from the wrecked Mars exploration ship to America, and how they eventually found out that Martians were Earthlings and Earthlings were Martians.

Art:
The art is simply amazing. It's old for a 2005 anime, and the animation is just so stiff. I think even 1980s anime/OVAs like Gunbuster and Mobile Suit Gundam has better art and animation than this. The only saving grace is how bloody the massacres were.

Sound:
The voice acting was horrible. The only thing I found nice to hear were the moanings of dying people, and the growling of the 'Ancients'. And as for the music, I could've sworn I heard a few classical pieces in the background.

Character:
It would be difficult to identify the characters if not for them having different genders and looks, for there is no distinct characteristics for the different character. The only distinctive traits the characters ever have are their looks and their voices. They might as well make every single character look and sound the same, since it would save them the trouble from having to think of how each and every character would have to look and sound.

Enjoyment:
This is where this OVA shines. The enjoyment factor. As I've said before, never has any sci-fi/horror series made me laugh as hard as this did. I laughed when the ship at the beginning blew up, I laughed when the girls were so stupid that they stood still and didn't run as the 'Ancients' charged up and fired their beam at them, I laughed when one of the girls got her head blown off, I laughed when the policeman was torn apart, I laughed when the main dude in the suit didn't know how to use his other free hand to attack the main 'Ancient' when his sword arm was stopped, and then later broken and dislocated by the 'Ancient', I laughed when the professor in the US said that the DNA found on Mars belonged to Homo Sapiens, I laughed when the 'Ancient' began to speak, I laughed when he said that Earthlings were Martians, and Martians were Earthlings. I was laughing throughout the entire show.

So overall, all I have to say is, if you've got about 20 minutes of your life you would like to waste away, please, PLEASE, do catch Mars of Destruction. :D

Today I had the sudden inspiration to write a review on the unfathomably glorious and unparalleled masterpiece that is Mars of Destruction. Here is a breakdown of why Mars of Destruction is THE most epic anime ever created.

Plot
The story is one of the best I have ever seen. Martians invading the Earth for absolutely no properly explained reason? Wonderful! The main protagonist, Takeru, having to fight these creatures and endure the pain brought about by the mars suit which he wears? So dramatic! And the female characters are part of a well designed special alien fighting group called the AAST with Takeru, and they ... all have their very own unique skill that they never use because they are always seen with the same exact gun. Now the best part is the climatic battle scene against the alien leader. Just seeing Takeru's arm being broken after 5 seconds of fighting was so painful to watch! The girls valiantly tried to stop the alien, but they just couldn't handle his special ability "death grip", which is him basically grabbing the girls' necks and choking them without doing ANYTHING else. I shouted for joy when, after having a 3 minute conversation with a green haired girl while his other companions were getting choked to death by the alien, Takeru used some random untested weapon that was randomly given to him by the random green haired girl to blow a hole through the alien who SAW Takeru about to shoot him but didn't move at all. At the very end, the plot takes a psychological turn when it is discovered that the Martians are the earthlings and the earthlings are the martians. ;o; Shocking, I know. It's just so amazing how fantastic the plot is of this 20 minute show!

Art
My eyes frickin MELTED from the exquisite animation of this show. You may not believe it, but the female characters, who had the same exact faces, outfits, and figure, actually had different colored hair, which all had their own unique design. The alien leader looked different from the other aliens, which I believe helps emphasize his superior character. The fight scenes, oh my gosh the fight scenes were animated BRILLIANTLY! Especially the one between Takeru and the alien leader, it was such a powerful battle, and it brought forth numerous emotions, especially when they stood staring at each other while doing absolutely nothing for five minutes. The art in this show is just gorgeous.

Sound
This show had no opening or ending theme, but that's okay! The insert songs were more than enough for my ears to listen to. My personal favorite was when, during the climatic battle between our heroic protagonist and his dastardly foe, a piece written by Beethoven plays in the background. Thats right, this show has the budget to insert one of Beethoven's classical arrangements into the anime. It's just so amazing!

Characters
Mars of Destruction has some of the most interesting and dynamic characters that I've even seen. They even go as far as to name each and every one of the four female leads. The backstory of the protagonist Takeru was one of the most emotional moments of anything ever created. It was gut wrenching when his dad forced him to wear the mars suit. Oh, the feels! I also find it necessary to point out my personal favorite character, known only as the girl from AAST. In the very first battle, she valiantly stood firm against the alien aggressors, and never moved from her position. My jaw dropped in shock as an alien shot a beam of light or something from his mouth and it blew off the head of the AAST girl. I cried when, in the hospital, the doctors deduced that she was dead after thoroughly analyzing her headless body. I sincerely hoped that she would survive, but alas, it was not meant to be. She died a true hero.

Enjoyment
If you don't find this show entertaining, then I don't know what else could possibly satisfy you. Everything about this show screams perfection, from the fantastic plot right down to the music by Beethoven. My eyes were glued to the screen for the entirety of the 20 minutes in which this show ran, and it was possibly the greatest 20 minutes of my life. Thank you Idea Factory for providing the world with this exceptional anime!

This anime seems very bad on the surface. Blood shows up as a solid red substance that explodes into a pillar out of a character’s neckhole. This anime has that dumb shaky camera thing that was used in the movie Cloverfield, except nobody is filming this, so what the fuck? It’s not just the camera thing, characters look like they’re vibrating whenever they try to walk or move any part of their body. One possible explanation that I came up with is this: in the futuristic world of this anime everyone has seizures when they try to move. This is probably due to inbreeding that ... was most likely caused by incest anime. That’s legit societal commentary right there.


Characters are all nameless and have no personality to speak of. They are so dumb that they need a doctor to tell them that decapitation is often fatal. They are so useless that even a training montage cannot save them from destruction. They are experts who suck at everything, including life. They are masters of various fighting styles, but they couldn’t hit an elephant’s ass from three centimeters away. Their faces are completely identical, but luckily their hair makes it kind of easy to tell them apart. Just kind of. The voice acting consists of lines read monotonously, pointless growls, or uninspired squeals, and is generally pointless. We don’t care about these characters. They don’t care about each other. They have absolutely no reaction when their friend’s head is blown off. They don’t even try to avoid their own deaths. They just kinda stand there.Hell, most fight scenes were just people standing in one spot and making noises at each other. The plot made zero sense and had no logic to it at all. Classical music was misplaced and used in the least fitting way possible. It was actually impressive how badly placed it was. In fact, you could try to make something worse than this anime, but you would almost invariably fail. So why am I not giving it a 1?


Because I liked it. Why? Well, I could justify it in a lot of different ways. If you see me in a museum I’ll probably be that one douche who always pretends to understand the abstract art. I could say that this anime is brutally nihilistic à la Blood Meridian. I could say that the guns are phallic symbols and the whole anime is a Freudian commentary on the feminist movement. I could say it was a brilliant parody of “teenagers defend the earth” anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion, or of anime like Lain that have convoluted and hard to understand sci fi plots, and then I could lambast detractors as superficial for criticizing the audiovisuals of such a brilliant and philosophical masterwork. But that would all be unnecessary bullshit (although the anime was very arguably an NGE parody) because it was funny regardless. I laughed the whole way through. That automatically gives this anime more value than the vast majority of anime or manga that I have experienced. I don’t really care if the humor was intentional or not. The viewer’s interpretation overrules the creator’s intent. I watched it as a comedy; I hereby declare it a comedy. It’s impossible to take seriously anyway. In a measure of laughs per second it could go laugh for laugh with any other comedy anime I have ever seen and always come out on top. A comedy anime only really needs to be funny to be good, although effective satire could always help boost its score. This anime might not be deep, it might have shit audiovisuals, but it was very very funny. My stomach hurts from laughing. That is all.

I'm afrain i'm gona have to be the 2nd person to also give this a 10 overall...and yes its well worth spending more time reflecting on it tah it took to watch haha

Story: (I dont care what anybody says! this WAS origionally intended as a searies!!! nothing can be this bad unless its intentional!) ok yeh, umm, first its necessary to grasp the f**ked up storyline, so watch it before you read this coz no synopsis can substitute for that - i think it was something like martians who are actually earthlings (but humans actually evolved on mars) come to earth on a spaceship ... bring back the wreakage of a previous exepedition to mars somewhere in the near to middle future; the "aliens" blow up the ship in the artmosphere and somehow survive the crash. Then, it cuts to typical angel-tai esque squad fighting them (no helmets to show off their moe faces of course) with what they mention offhand later to be plazma weapons, when a guy whos later revealed to be working for his father coz he was made to, (why we dont know and neither does any1 else it seems). Then the leader of these guys comes around later and the kid gets back into the suit (yep hes a high school student, but with even less background than devilman in the 2000 ova - at least there u can watch the other searies or read the manga) and shoots him with a plazma rifle that looks something like the one yoko carries from Gurren Langann, the end.

this is why im convinced the rest of the story just wasnt made in any form most likely because it stayed in the author's head, who either died or forgot about where he wanted the show wanted to go after they'd animated every 2nd scene, so they turned it into an ova and got rid of all traces of the budget to pay for his funeral

Art:
The art is simply amazing. It's old for a 2005 anime, and the animation is just so stiff. Perhaps it was trying to emulate devilman 2000 ova a bit... the violence all seemed low budget, like it'd been taken straight from the manga, stuck into flash and a few extra drawings made to fill in the gaps so the entire 20 minutes would come togeather from nothing at the click of a single button. like i said before though, basically looked like the actual budget got lost somewhere and they filled in whatever they didnt have with crap

Sound:
The voice acting was INDEED horrible. Yes, the moanings of dying people was nice, the growling that is, computer generated of course, from the 'Ancients' was wholelly annoying. The music is the only bit i dont understand - they must've hired the same guy who made the monorail in the simpsons for this, coz the whole thing was not only thrown togeather, but more like it'd been made in an otaku's basement, but one who got bored and didn't actually watch the completed thing before he released it
yes, the music is clasical and recognisable, but definately NOT tastful like in Cannon

Character:
The idea to make the characters different genders and hairs is a great anime invention taken to lengths, much like a 10 centimetre ramen noodle streached 10 metres. Not that there are no distinct characteristics for the different characters, but rather after watching the only people i was sure had even talked was the kid and some green hair named shizuka.. maby a nurse, natually not counting teh father since he counts more as a narrator. They [might as well]? no, they did make every single character sound the same.

Enjoyment:
yes, the enjoyment factor =). like i said, dont think of it as an anime, think of it as a manga that was never completed. I have a friend who's writing his own anime he thinks hell get published and is 1/2 way through, and isnt sure if it will be a novell, a manga, or a script, well i dont think these guys even wrote anything before they made this besides a few rough sketches out of a "my first manga" sketchbook. The ship at the beginning blowing up was pure flash player goodness. Not to mention the 'Ancients' blowing up people's heads at 2 frames per second and policeman being torn apart with less animation quality than a homemade manga flipbook. the only bit that annoyed me was when the kid acted like any other anime kid when he got a broken arm and fired the lazer, it wasnt weird enough (like the head exploding) when the 'Ancient' began to speak was also a highlight, a kind of "oh yeh! here comes another 'wtf lol' moment"

Overall 20 minutes of pure "wtf" not detracted at all by the ocassional "oh, that kinda makes sence - i can relate to that" kind of thought.

Mars of Destruction, a MUST watch for anyone who's MAL list says they've seen over 2000 episodes (but Gurren Langann is a must see to watch this or u may not lol as hard, also samurai X is recomended but not necessary, and finally anything with kagumia rie helps :) )

NOT reccomended for anyone just starting to get into anime watched maby one or 2 searies's... though if you hated death note (especially if the 1st few chapters of the manga didnt quite add up) you'll probably like this (though like is a subjective term)

This anime is one of the best anime I've ever seen. The low ratings are due to people who can't understand peak fiction. Watch this to change your life.
Hametsu no Mars movie is an absolute fucking tearjerker that I love coming back to and showing it to people so they also suffer.
Despite having watched it three times already, I still cry with it because it's a story done to hurt you specially when you know what's gonna happen. It explores our desire of "I could of have done something better" a lot which is something I find incredibly interesting. It is definitely not a ... movie that can be watched alone without the anime so be aware of that.

In the movie we finally get to explore Makinohara Shouko's character in an extensive way which I truly appreciate because it's the only character that still had some questions around some might argue that we got edged way too hard but I definitely feel like the context of the anime was needed and that the execution of it was great.

"We invaded this planet? Invaded the Earth?"

Story-2
Who are humans? What is humanity's origin? This anime answers those questions. People are actually invaders, and "Ancients" are real earthlings. WHAT?

It sucks. Can't say anymore.

Despite AWFUL sound effects, soundtrack includes famous classics like Erik Satie and Ludvig van Beethoven. I enjoyed listening to Gymnopedie and Moonlight Sonata.

Seriously, go watch it. There is no anime that would be as 'great' as Mars of Destruction. It is bad, silly and awful. But I wasn't angry at all after watching it. It was a funny experience. If you don't take this anime seriously and try to enjoy the stupidity, then you can like it somehow.

Ah Mars of Destruction, How can I explain how I loved literally every second of this horrid OVA?

This is my first review, and I'm glad it's on this because I honestly achieved a level of laughter that I hadn't achieved before. Now lets begin with the basics of this amazing OVA.

Story 1/10
The synopsis of the OVA is pretty much as close as you'll get to an explanation of the OVA. Other than that, There's really no story at all. The lack of story is the first strike in why I found this OVA hilarious, This OVA would be completely disappointing if it had an actual ... story. If it had a story you'd have a general thought of whats going on, but in this case it doesn't need it, it's better just to stay lost throughout the whole 20 minutes so the WTF factor can be just higher than ever.

Art 1/10
There's not much to say other than the art is probably worse than a series from the 80's. It was so static, like everyone was a robot. It really didn't make the OVA better, but It did help me laugh a bit more than I should've.

Sound 1/10
The voice acting was god awful to put it simply. Everything else whether it be sound effects or just over all soundtrack sound like they're the go to stuff in any situation, very basic and over used sounds.

Characters 1/10
The Characters are horrible, just like everything else in this OVA, it really isn't a surprise. I do however enjoy the fact the main male lead didn't contribute to anything and was more useless than Sakura from Naruto. I also liked the fact they tried to save their fallen comrade after the battle, but when they were fighting they literally didn't care at all.

Enjoyment 10/10
Like I said in the very beginning, this was a horrible OVA but a very enjoyable one if you laughed like I did at it. I have never in my 18 years of life been so confused, or lost watching a horrible anime like this and still was laughing due to that it's just really stupid.

It's a must watch if you're bored, want to laugh and have 20 minutes to waste. If you're going into this seriously to be impressed you're not going to have a good time watching this.

To put it shortly, every aspect of this OVA is really pathetic, the Characters are alright, but they're not good at all. The reason you should watch this OVA is because even though how bad it is you can still find entertainment in it. The best way to watch this is to go in with no expectations of it being good, take note of how serious this OVA is supposed to be and just chug along laughing at it. It's a masterpiece in it's own way, but I assure you it's not because of the story, art, sound, and characters.

Hametsu no Mars, also known as Mars of Destruction, is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, pieces of media the mankind has ever seen. This anime is so amazing that even Neil Breen wishes to make a movie of the same quality as this masterpiece. The story, the sound, the animation and the characters—everything in this anime is absolutely impeccable. The only flaw I can find about it is that it ends.

For all these reasons, I couldn't resist myself to make a review about this timeless anime named Mars of Destruction ... even though it has been around 15 years since its release. Now I am going to show you why it's such a timeless anime, and why every part of it is so flawless, so amazing, and so entertaining. So ladies and gentlemen, be prepared to get your mind blown by the excellence of this 19 minute OVA.


Story (10)

Mars of Destruction is a highly philosophical anime with an absolutely incredible storyline. Its writing is so good that it puts even Shakespeare's writing to shame. The philosophy in this anime is also incredible. It is so deep that it makes Socrates look like Russ in comparison. Just read the plot and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Some strange creatures called "Ancients" begin to attack the people living on Earth, and some teenage girls from a special police force called "AAST" and a random guy try their best to fight against these creatures to save the mankind.

You might have several questions on your mind right now. Why are these strange creatures attacking the humans? Why are some random teenage girls and a random teenage guy fighting against these creatures? Well, Mars of Destruction doesn't answer these questions and that's the beauty of this anime. You see, the answer to all these questions can be anything. How you are going to interpret the story, it all depends on you. Isn't that just marvelous?

The plot twist in the end is also nothing short of amazing. My mind almost got blown when I saw the absolutely unpredictable plot twist. In the end, we find out that in actuality, humans were the real invaders of Earth and the Martians were the actual Earthlings. Doesn't it fascinate you because of how brilliant and revolutionary it is? It got me thinking about what it really means to be a human.

For all these reasons, I think we all can agree that the story is easily a 10/10, just like every other aspects of this anime.


Art (10)

The animation was absolutely beautiful and entertaining. It made me totally speechless while watching it because of how astonishing it was. It made me ask philosophical questions like: "Why does the animation of an anime made during the 2000s look a lot worse than anime made during the 1980s?" "Why do all the female characters basically have the same faces?" "Why is their hair color the only thing different about them?"

That's because WAO World is capable of doing all sorts of unimaginable things that are simply impossible for normal humans. This is exactly why the animation of Mars of Destruction is considered by a lot to be the best of the best.


Sound (10)

The soundtrack of Mars of Destruction is totally incomparable. Beethoven, a legendary music composer whose name everyone knows of, recorded the marvelous background OST tracks from himself. I especially loved the part where there's a climatic battle going on between our protagonist and an "Ancient", and Beethoven's classical music starts playing out of nowhere. That was pure honey to my ears.

The voice actors were also superb. There were no flaws prevalent in their voice acting whatsoever. Honestly, all of them deserve to receive a Nobel prize for their outstanding performance.

This masterpiece of an anime doesn't have any opening or ending, but that is completely justifiable. Everything else about the show is so perfect that it doesn't need any.


Character (10)

The characters of Mars of Destruction are flawless in every single aspect. Starting from the protagonist to the Girl from AAST, everyone had amazing and revolutionary character traits. Their development throughout the anime was simply impressive. I was fascinated at how they could make such appealing characters and develop them so decently within only 19 minutes. It's just outstanding.

My favorite character out of all is easily the Girl from AAST. Even though she appeared in the anime only for a minute, she is the most memorable character out of all of them. When the doctor declared her death, I became very depressed and started crying my eyes out. I thought she could survive even after her head was blown off, but her fate was unfortunate. You know that an anime is amazing when the character who appeared for the least amount of time is the most unforgettable character from the anime.


Enjoyment (10)

Before watching Mars of Destruction, I didn't think that something made by humans could be this amazing. My time watching this masterful anime is undeniably the best 19 minutes I hae ever had in my life. I could watch this again and again for the millionth time and still wouldn't get bored. That's why Mars of Destruction deserves a 10/10 in terms of enjoyment. Absolutely no doubt here.

I always thought that nothing in this world could be perfect, but Mars of Destruction proved me outright wrong. There isn't a single thing I could nitpick about this beautiful anime. It's an absolute masterpiece that more people should know about. Overall, Mars of Destruction deserves nothing but a 10/10.

If you haven't watched Mars of Destruction yet, what are you even doing with your life? You are missing out on 19 minutes of absolute entertainment and brilliance. But you better be careful. You might even have a heart attack because of the sheer amount of joy you will get from watching the anime. Trust me, I almost had one too. In my opinion, though, a heart attack doesn't seem that bad when you think of the immense pleasure you will get in return.

The final verdict is, you should watch Mars of Destruction yourself and encourage others to watch this brilliant piece too. I assure you that it's going to be the most entertaining 19 minutes of your life that you'll never be able to forget.

10 means 'Outstanding.' Mars of Destruction certainly is outstanding. It has no redeeming qualities other than how awful it is.

The 'Story', if we can call it that, seems to have been written by a fifth-grader.

The 'Art' is easily replicated in KidPix, and is unique in it's use of vauge shapes to represent real things. The characters look like they all had their heads photoshopped on.

The 'Sound' is badly recorded and unimaginative, and it makes me sad that the microphones used had to be subjected to the voice acting.

There weren't actually any characters.

As long as you know what you're getting in to, your ... 'Enjoyment' can be rather high. Just be forewarned that you can't say anything bad about other anime after wasting twenty minutes of your life watching this sad excuse for...everything, really.

Overall, I'd give it 10/10 and recommend that everyone watch it.

Well, as for me it is clearly 10 out of 10. Why is that? It is pretty simple. I want to see this anime on the top, everyone should watch it and ask themselves: to whom I should recommend Mars of Destruction? Greatest enemy? Best friend? Oh boy, so confusing!

This OVA has nothing, literally nothing good. It is totally bad, and this is the reason why everyone should watch it. There is nothing similar (except School Days) to this piece of pure crap. Moreover I think human race deserve 10/10! They were brave enough to just stand there and get killed. Ask yourself! Would you ... be, in their position, as brave as 'em?

I want this anime on the top!

Hametsu no Mars is what you get when... I don't even know how this abomination was created. It's far past "bad", it's actually an incoherent mess of a shit show in the form of an anime. But despite all of that, I highly recommend that *everyone* watches it.

Everything about this anime is bad: from the terrible (and somewhat inexistant) character personalities, to the mess that I dare you to call a plot. It almost feels like everyone that had a part in the production either hated what they were creating or they did not care at all. Hametsu no ... Mars feels souless, as though they didn't try to create an actual story at all. But funny as it may be, I beg you to watch Hametsu no Mars. After going through the absolute worst of the worst, I started appreciating the mediocre anime. It almost feels too easy to call the seasonal bland anime "trash", but man once you watch Hametsu no Mars you truly understand what actual trash is. It's so bad, it can function as your personal gateway to anime nirvana. So please, give it a try and come be enlightened as well!

This is the single worst anime I have ever seen.
It is also the best anime I have ever seen.

You are here for two possible reasons. You were browsing MAL, looking at different anime categories, when suddenly you see an anime with a 2.25 out of 10. You wonder to yourself, how could an anime be this bad? Surely, there cant be an actual anime that is this bad. Oh how wrong you are.
Or, you could have clicked on an article of some kind about the best worst anime, or got a recommendation from an evil friend, looking for some short term amusement at ... the expense of their relationship with you. I am that friend. (Sorry to Omer and Louise. If you ever see this, go to sleep. its probably past 3am.)

This is the room of anime, its so, utterly terrible in every single way, yet I was giggling quietly to myself at 2am because it was so god damn funny.

If you like media that is so bad its good, give this a shot. Because god damn, is this so bad that its good. There is not a single redeeming quality to this show, and I wouldnt have it any other way.

ok, i stumbled upon this show a few months ago when searching for the lowest rated shows and I watched it along with one of my friend for the lulz , it was quite a quite fun experience and I thought it was too bad that its good. About a week ago I rewatched it and showed it to some of my friends thinking that theyd laugh about how bad it is (i told them its a classic with a high score). While rewatching it, it wasnt even that bad(even until the end my friends still believe what i said). Id say it was ... good for what it is ( a one episode condensed ova).

I'd rate it 5/10 at best, people are just overreacting in giving it a 1. Ill give it a 10 just to raise the score.

The Positive Side: Mars of Destruction is the very definition of “So Bad, It’s Good”. It is not mere inept, it is hilariously inept, surprisingly inept, uniquely inept. Its badness surprises and delights at every turn. Is it objective to rate something highly based on its level of entertainment value when it is so incompetently made? Well… probably not. What I can say is that I laughed harder watching Mars of Destruction than I did watching most shows that were intentional comedies.

The story begins with a space-craft returning to Earth with a biological alien sample from Mars. Upon re-entering ... atmosphere, the ship burns up due to some unknown malfunction, and we get our first glimpse of Mars of Destruction’s glorious animation. The ship inexplicably speeds up, crumbles into fragments that resemble cigar-ash, and then—in complete defiance of the Earth’s gravity—these framents fall towards the bottom of the screen.

I cannot overstate how much I love the fight choreography of Mars of Destruction. In the first fight scene, three high-school girls in knockoff Gundam body-suits are pointing machine-guns at a pair of aliens. The girls stand there, not shooting, for a full twenty seconds, at which point a third alien shows up an blows off one of the girl’s heads with a laser. Interestingly, despite the fact that the girls are standing no more than thirty feet from the aliens, the lasers take five seconds to reach their target, begging the question as to why the girl didn’t move out of the way. Are the girls all sent into battle heavily sedate? That would certainly explain their complete inability to emote.

After being decapitated by laser, the girl in question slowly falls over backwards, without changing her pose even slightly, or letting go of her gun. To top off absurdity of the whole scene, the girls then take their fallen comrade to the hospital where the doctor confirms that, indeed, getting one’s head vaporized is fatal.

The sound-track is hysterically inappropriate. At one point, the “Barber of Seville” inexplicably plays in the middle of a battle-scene. Yes, people are swinging laser-swords at each other to public domain opera music.

The voice-acting is so bad, it may actually out-do Dub Piece for the Worst Anime Voice-Acting of All Time. In the middle of a fight-scene, a woman hands the protagonist a dangerous experimental weapon, and then explains, as calmly as possible, that he must use it…(twenty second pause)…or everyone will die.

There is not a single aspect of Mars of Destruction that is not hilariously and bizarrely stupid.

The Negative Side: You will never be able to say you like this anime without instantly being labeled a troll.

Speaking seriously, if I were to rate this anime on technical competence, I would give it a 2/10. It’s entertainment value is directly reliant how awful it is, and it take a sense of humor to appreciate this work.

Final Verdict: A must-watch. Mars of Destruction is a laugh riot, and is only 20 minutes long in its entirety. Not only that, it sets the standard for low production value. You don’t know what bad animation until you’ve seen Mars of Destruction.

Guys this anime is honestly magnificent. I know I'm probably going to be the 10th person to write an ironically positive review but this anime is just too good.

The positives are countless. The story is phenomenal. The whole thing with the spaceship blowing up for no reason is totally mysterious, enthralling and not ridiculous in the slightest. This anime is so clear and while it made me think, I completely understood everything that was on screen. Especially the part where the guy is screaming at his dad " NO NO NO DON'T DO IT". I totally know what that was about. Also that astounding plot ... twist at the end. The hoomans are from Mars and the Marsbars are from Earth I mean WOW. The art is stunning. The way people's heads get blown off and how they have holes blown into them is masterfully animated. The way that they animate movement is so natural and not static or uneven in the slightest. The only animated work that can possibly rival this animation is Skelter Heaven I mean this is honestly AMAZING. The sound is incredible. The way the Marsbars groan is so spoopy and the voice acting is on point. Also the soundtrack is phenomenal. The way songs completely cut off only for others to start playing with no transition whatsoever is so bold. And it really works incredibly! I mean they got Beethoven, Bach, Satie and more to do a collab. I can only imagine what it was like to have so many great minds in one room. The characters are astounding. I really developed a strong attachment to all of them and their distinct personalities. When ランドングルルーちゃん got her head blown off I was in tears. The relationships between characters are also really solid. I love how Protagonist interacts with gun girl and gun girl with big gun girl it's honestly so pure and beautiful. When big gun girl tells Protagonist that he needs to fire the big gun, I really felt the tension between them that had been built towards during the previous ten seconds.

This anime is one you can't miss. It is beautiful and emotional and IT'S SO FREAKIN' GOOD. Watch it now OR ELSE. These will definitely be the best 19 minutes of your life.

Mars of Destruction is a masterpiece ahead of its time. Not only is it a flawless piece of fiction from a writing and critical perspective, it also manages to convey a message which I'm sure will reach and move its audience. From the story, the characters, the animation and even the soundtrack: Mars of Destruction does not miss a beat when it comes to delivering in all fronts.

Story: 10/10
The plot and lore that surrounds this anime is solid and without flaws. The worldbuilding established in differentiating human Earth society ... and Mars society is a sight to behold, and leaves you wondering about future plot points which incited, well, the Destruction of Mars. The anime is not without its plot twists too. The excellent story writing makes for an exciting unpredictable plot twist that surprises the audience, but not purely for shock factor. The masterful writing leaves you at a state thinking 'Oh, that's why!' After all the pieces unfold. Mars of Destruction is a shining example of how to deliver an amazing story with a wild plot twist.

Art: 10/10
Despite coming from a not so household studio name, Mars of Destruction somehow delivers art and animation quality akin to the greats of the industry. Matching the levels of Demon Slayer and even Your Name, Mars of Destruction does not disappoint if you are looking for that sweet, animation eye candy. Every frame looks stunning and the animation flows smooth like water. If you have a well-structured story and amazing art, what more can you ask for?

What more can you ask for? An amazing soundtrack to come with. The music for Mars of Destruction is top-notch and superb. The sound beats are well placed and flow perfectly with the ups and downs of the anime. The melodramatic scenes are accompanied by the choreographic masterpieces by Queen, and the action scenes always leave you at the edge of your seat while Break Free is playing. Mars of Destruction's soundtrack elevates the already masterful animation and direction that the anime showcase.

Character: 10/10
The life and soul of a story is always its characters, and Mars of Destruction has them brimming with personality. The characters have realistic personalities that most can relate to. Some of the characters are rather diverse as well, which brings in an air of inclusivity and representation which most anime don't have. The main character is a female AAST member who has a rather masculine voice, and one of her colleagues has the voice of a dolphin, showing that the anime cares about its marine furry audience. With realistic characters, the story feels more immersive and genuine, since you can easily put yourself in the shoes of the cast. You would often find yourself curiously thinking, "If I were there, would I have treaded on just like Dolphin lady?" and asking that is a trademark of good character writing.

Enjoyment: 10/10
Mars of Destruction is an absolute treat to watch, from start to finish. It is also an anime I surprisingly found suitable for ages. The anime is action-packed enough to draw in a young audience, yet thought provoking enough to keep the mature audience glued to their screens, excitedly witnessing the plot develop. Mars of Destruction has something for all audiences, and that is a magic not all anime get to have.

One of the best anime I have seen In a long time! The dub voice acting was top tier and I think it is an example of dub outclassing the sub by miles. The story and script is so well written. 10/10 would recommend to any anime fan simply a must watch for any person looking to call themselves a consumer of the medium.

In every possible category Mars of Destruction excels. The backstory is so deep (Spoiler warning) When they reveal that the Ancients are the true earthlings is truly shocking! Never expected this twist in the show and my brain was absolutely ... rattled at this realization.

Simply peak fiction.

All of the characters were beautifully writen, my favorite was "Girl from AAST" her contribution to the story is unchallenged. 10/10

The 20 minutes felt like just 1, the sheer beautifulness of everything shown made the experience overly enjoyable. 10/10

I don't know what to say other than this was a masterpiece. The story was amazing. It flowed so well from scene to scene. The art was a little on the meh side, but that is understandable since it is an older anime. I did not watch the subbed version, but I stand by the dub 100%. You should not watch this anime in sub. You will regret that decision. I know what you are all thinking "dubs are worse than subs", but trust me... it is 100x better. The characters are just so likable and it felt like I was feeling everything they did. ... I thoroughly enjoyed this anime and would show this to everyone, including my grandma.
