An original sequel to the TV anime which aired in 2018, the movie will follow "auto memory doll" Violet, still unable to forget about her former employer Gilbert, who taught her of love. One day, she meets his older brother Dietfried, who tells her that she should forget about Gilbert and move on - but it is impossible for her. Shortly after, Violet receives a call from a young client, while the post office discovers a letter with no address sitting in their warehouse.

Humans understand their feelings. Especially important people. New era is coming with the passage of time. Everyone dies someday. A person who someone met becomes precious to existence for them. The core is love. Even if people never going to see each other, they live eternally in their hearts. Violet Evergarden. She and this series title are symbolizing life strength. We are the same, too. Life is Treasure.

Violet finally could know meaning of "love" in TV series. The word is involved in this sequel deeply. Telling some emotions by a letter has mental imagination. Ulysse. He is one of new characters in this series. read more

Holy shit. Coming to Japan in order to watch this movie was one of my best decisions this year. Mere month after I've seen final Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel movie I come back this time to Kyoto. Is it better than super hit from ufotable? It doesn't matter actually, I'm speechless. And in love. TV series has few flaws, plot pretty bland and predictable, simplified to the border. And it was damn beautiful. And this movie read more

We're shown the cruel reality of dolls being put out of business by advancements in technology, namely the telephone. However, this did not deter our temporary protagonist from travelling to the post office where it all took place, which has been turned into a museum.

The film jumped to Violet's read more

I see that all of the first 3 reviews gave this movie a perfect 10/10. I can understand where their opinion comes from and respect people who think this was a perfect ending for Violet's story, but I have to personally disagree and give this film a 7/10. It's still far better than average, but the ending misses the mark entirely for me. I will state my reasons below, first in a spoiler-free section and then in a spoiler section.

Before I begin, full disclaimer that I have NOT read the novel, and so the source of my complaint is not "it is different from the read more
