I was not really interested in this ova at first because i read the manga and watched the anime and already knew how this story goes however it was very enjoyable and i am glad i saw this.
Story: 8 If you watched or read the anime or manga you already know what this story is about the love story between bandit ban and elaine the guardian of the fountain of youth. This showed ban's past and the reason why he was obsessed with bringing elaine back form the dead. Both ban and elaine were lonely persons who found love between each other.Elaine being alone for 700 years guarding the fountain by herself alone and ban who was somewhat of an outcast among humans.Their love only lasted a week but they both cared for each other.A sad tale of a love that ended in tragedy.
Art: 8 The art of nanatsu no taizai as always been unique and colorful this ova is no different.
Sound: 7 The music was ok but for the most part this ova didnt was silent i guess to portray the sadness of the characters.
Character:8 The characters ban and elaine were good when sadness struck you actually felt sad for them because a lot of time was spent to show the relationship between them.
Enjoyment: 8 I really enjoyed this ova,it felt short because i was so engrossed in the story and the characters.
Overall: 8 If you like nanatsu no taizai and wanted to see more you should definitely check this ova out.The story between ban and elaine was shown already but this is more complete story. If you just want a good story about romance between two loners i recommend this you don't even have to watch the nanatsu no taizai series to understand the story.read more
Note: This Is A Review Of The First Episode Not The Entire OVA
I Stopped Writing All My Advance Reviews Just So That I Could Right This Review
Story: 9/10 All us viewers including me wanted to know how and why Ban cared about Elaine, forest and what was his past like and we got it in this OVA. The main season did focus nearly 15-20 mins of it time brifely showing us the story but that was just a small fraction of what truly had happened and why Ban was in jail. So hats off to the producers that they showed his side story as most anime OVA just concentrate on normal stuff after a incident or season.
Sound: 7/10 I really forgot to hear it much as I was so busy with the story. But I did hear parts of it and ED so I will give score for that.
Characters: 8/10 There we only 2 characters this story concentrated on and we the viewers already know how they both are but this episode had extra detail (Note: Detail as in the story and not other stuff) on the story so “Points” Also this episode showed what happened before and after the fight with (Spoiler So No) along with a week shown of the twwo characters.
Animation: 7/10 Just a normal animation which I like to look at once in a while. Still there were some good detail so again “Points”
Enjoyment: 8/10 I really liked this episode and it’s fun cause we see cute Elaine with our best man Ban
Overall: A really good OVA that shows the before/old Ban. Looking forward to the 2nd episode
Overall Score: 7.8/10

Some folks might say that these 2 OVA episodes are more for the people who have read the manga, and that if you've only seen the anime (season 1) it isn't worth it to watch these.
Those folks are WRONG.
WATCH these 2 OVA episodes no matter if you have or haven't read the manga. I have not read the manga; I only watched the anime. And I loved these side stories! They did a great job filling in any questions you may have had after just watching season 1.
Man, I really hope that the announced new release for next year is a season 2, and not a remake.read more
There isn't much to review. If you've seen the anime, you know the story, bit this gives a greater insight into the characters in question. This is much appreciated.
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this to someone who doesn't read the manga because manga readers are the intended recipients (with this being an OVA bundled with the manga as opposed to the anime. This works if you haven't read the manga, but there is a scene that would happen at the start of what would be the second season that would be spoiled in the send that it wouldn't throw you for a loop as it was initially meant to and will do for anyone who doesn't watch this.
To reiterate, I personally don't recommend this for those who haven't read beyond chapter 100 where the anime ends. Otherwise, go right ahead. You get to see a scene that we know happened in the past but is depicted for the first time in he OVA. There is also the deserved time that this deserved in the TV show.read more
