Haikyuu! is a sports genre anime, mainly tackling about Volleyball. In this kind of story, there's only one direction it will go through. There are practice matches, competitions, win lose set up. They have only one goal, to win. It will all be the same. The skill to make it unique, interesting, exciting to watch or read is what makes the difference. The story of each and every characters. Their struggle, their persistence, it's what make this kind of genre great. Haikyuu! is one of those sport type anime who can make the viewer scream with excitement. This series will not only make ... you hope of victory for them, but can also make you want more. Their battle from the bottom of the rally until the top is nerve racking, satisfying, and real great.

Character: 10

Every characters have a story to tell. Each of them have fears that they need to overcome. Each of them have that greatness that they don't know until someone pushes them. I love how every characters have that spotlight to tell their story, even if they are not one of the main characters. It was good that it explained why they are doing such thing because of that experience. Apart from that, the efforts exhausted by the main character to reach his dream, even if it is nearly impossible is really something. Though it seems like everything is against that goal, he is making his best effort to compete with that flaws. And that focus will lead to something magnificent, that's for sure.

Sound and Animation: 10

I really love how the characters were made. I like the expression of their faces when they are mad, when they are angry or they are focus to fight. Apart from that, the differences on their image, from their faces to the structures of their body is something unique for me. It's really hard to create characters difference from each other. The voices of the characters has been picked in a way that it really adds up to the attitude of what they are potraying. It was an incredible watch.

Enjoyment: 10

Oikawa, can you be mine? He is so handsome and his character is too unique. There's never a dull moment watching this series. The spices was divided perfectly. The fun scenes, the serious ones, it all matches. What I like the most is how they focused on their goal, how much feelings and efforts they've put just to grab it and make it their own.

Ending: 10

Losing is just the beginning. Losing is not everything. It's just a lesson we need to learn. Losing on the last match of the series is inevitable. It is needed for the characters to grow. It is needed for them to know what they need to improve. I guess, losing is a blessing in disguise is really true. This ending reminded me of Kuroko no Basket. They did have the same ending, same feeling of pain, same feeling of wanting to improve more. In this kind of scenario, in this part of story, I think this is the best ending.

This season focuses more on improving every teams capability to win. Most of the episodes show praticing and getting better, focusing more and sharpening their skill. There are also new characters that was introduced, new and interesting ones, far more greater and stronger than what they encounter on the first season. I just love Kuro aNd Tsukki. Oh, nevermind that, lol. One of the highlights of this season is how Tsukki go back and forth, confused and curious, on why people go out on their way exhausting all the efforts they can give to achieve what they want even if it seems like nonsense to him. Additionally, how Hinata and the other main characters go their own way in order to master their new skills to defeat every team they need in order to go to Nationals. Lastly, the main goal of this season is for them to get pass and win from Aoba Josai who they fought once and lose. The step by step transformation of each of them, and the way they are slowly achieving their goal is what really made this anime great.

I feel comfortable saying that this season is FAR superior to the first. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first season, but this manages to top it and adapt. There is a lot of character development both individually and the team together, as well as seeing characters like Ennoshita and Yamaguchi get significantly more involved, as they were kind of pushed into the background in the first season. I am hoping we can see the same kind of situation with Kinoshita and Narita soon, as well!


As much as they truly capture what goes on on the court phenomenally and it is always engaging, a ... lot of the time, pausing it is not great because... the faces of characters in the background aren't exactly done the best and look a bit weird. Better than the first season, but still a bit weird.


They used sound very well here, they know when to have background music playing and when it should just be silent. The squeaking shoes and the sound of the ball hitting the floor, as well as muttering from the crowd are all done well. This is also another strong season for both of the opening and ending themes, and they are very satisfying to listen to.


Shouyou Hinata (The Strongest/Ultimate Decoy, Number One Shortie, Simpleton Idiot, Chibi-chan, Mini Spider-Man, Dumbass, Runt, Dolt, Scrub, Ball Boy, Sho-chan, Ginger/Little Ginger, Red/Little Red, Shorty, Short Stuff, Carrottop, Ninja Shouyou, Munchkin, Shortie Pie, Small Fry, Shrimpy, Shrimpo) - "I may be small, but I can jump!"

Tobio Kageyama (King of the Court, Bakageyama, Bateyama-kun, Kalm-geyama, Yamayama-kun, Wearyama-kun, King, Your Highness/Majesty, Simpleton Idiot) - "The only ones who get to stay on the court... are the best."

This season is just amazing especially the end. It starts normal but the more episodes you see the more it gets better. I really like the fact that is volleyball tournament and I like how it develops. The teams, the characters and the enjoyment gets better every time. There are also some good flashbacks and the end its just amazing. I cant describe it, its just epic.


I'm not talking just for this season but for all the manga and the anime in general. I 100% recommend it. I really enjoyed it and I'm sure you will enjoy it 2.

I remember back in my season 1 review of Haikyu I said I couldn't give the show a perfect 10 because it didn't transcend its genre the way the baseball anime One Outs did. I ended up giving season 1 a strong 9/10 but I'm giving season 2 that 10! Two reasons why: 1) I honestly think season 2 improves on season 1 in every way and thus deserves a higher score, and 2) while Haikyu never "transcends its genre" per se, I do think this show sets the gold standard for what a sports anime should be, and any such show deserves a perfect ... 10 in my book. After all, a "perfect anime" really doesn't exist (unless we're talking about Keijo!!!!!!!!), but I think a show that sets the bar for its type deserves a 10 as well.

Season 2 picks up right after Karasuno's defeat in their match with Aoba Johsai at the end of season 1, and this story is one of dealing with (and learning from) defeat. Hinata's team spends a lot of time being bummed over their loss, and they spend the majority of their summer training camp getting their asses handed to them by other teams in an effort to improve their game. This is the section of the anime I can see being a drag to some people, as the pace slows down a bit here. However, I'd argue this training section was essential because the team grows so much from it, like how Hinata learns how to open his eyes during a spike or rebound a blocked spike off the blockers' fingers. Hell, we even get a great backstory episode devoted to Tsukishima, which explains why he's so cynical about volleyball after his experiences with his brother. This episode made me stop thinking of Tsuki as an "asshole" once I realized why he's so afraid to really invest himself in the game's outcome.

As I've already hinted at, one of Haikyu's greatest strengths is its treatment of characters. I'm not kidding when I say every kid on every team gets pretty decent development, even what you though were minor characters. That green haired kid on Hinata's team who could barely play in S1? Yeah well he studied under a Karasuno graduate how to do this crazy float serve and now he's scoring like 5 service aces against Aoba Johsai! That punk with the pompadour from the minor team Karasuno beats at the start of the tournament? When you see how damn hard he tries to win and make his old coach proud, it'll bring a tear to your eye. Haikyu develops minor characters better than most anime (not even talking sports anime, just ANIME in general) I've seen!

The art and sound in this anime are still superb, at least on par with season 1. If anything, they've improved! The exciting battle music never fails to get me hyped, and OP 4 (Fly High) is now one of my favorite opening songs of all time, even more than season 1's OP 2 (Oh Yeah). Haikyu was always a great looking anime but I feel like season 2 really cranked it up another notch. Certain characters like Mad Dog from Aoba Johsai move at such an insane speed when they spike that their art style literally changes! Oikawa does this a few times too, entering what I call a "hyperspeed animation." It looks fantastic, and I also have to mention Oikawa's one spike/serve where he basically flattens the ball like a pancake he hits it so damn hard? Yeah the art on that was JAW-DROPPING!

So yeah, I love, love, LOVE Haikyu! This anime made me more interested in volleyball and sports anime in general and I hope I find another sports show that is on par with it. I have no regrets giving it a 10/10

The second season felt so much better in comparison with the first season. We got a new face in the team, a good training arc, and a well-written character development. Openings felt for me also much better in that season than that commonly generated anime music from season one. The ending was kinda predictable but it doesn't ruin the show at all.
I feel that even if you aren't into sports anime, you will still enjoy that show because is just enjoyable anime to watch. I'm now really hyped for season 3, so I'm probably gonna just watch it all in two days.

Train 'til you sweat. Train to become stronger. Train towards victory and fly all the way to the top of the powerhouses! With a jump and a hit that gets past the blockers, Season 2 of Haikyuu!! wondered the crowd with a new exciting entertainment.

Continuing where Season 1 left off, the black and orange team that we all came to love returned back, boasting a determination ever stronger than before. This season is packed with all the training and practice goodness that they needed in order to survive against the skilled opponents in their journey. ... A handful of new characters were introduced too, but this did presented some issues that affected the plot. While we were treated with backstories that expanded on the characters, the amount and timing disrupted the suspense that were generated, essentially losing that buildup that hyped you up. It canceled each other out so it's kind of a win-lose situation where a bit too much of one thing slightly ruined the other factor. Another minor gripe I had was the repetition of volleyball plays in a few episodes to the point where it can be boring. But they didn't drew me away from the interactions between the characters. Their realistic approach to winning and losing was a refresher, leading to great development of themselves. Like before, no one was really left out, having their own fair go being in the spotlight of inspiration. It was awesome seeing how each team has their own unique playstyle, and the matches to prove how much improvements they made over the months to be in the court with opponents led to new tricks, trusts and teamworks that awed an nonathletic person like me. And the comedy. There weren't as much as before but the ones that did appeared got me chuckled.

For the art style, Haikyuu!! have this unique way of visualization where it contained a lot more lines in their design, particularly in the shadows or during fast moments. It's not particularly flashy or special but the simplicity perfectly fitted the characters and volleyball actions. One other related thing I've noticed during the course of this season was in the expressions of the characters. Their eyes evoked a lot of strong feelings, looking intently at the ball during moments of high concentration. You just know that they won't let that ball touch the ground, making them so much more impressive in the court. The animation was pretty fluid at most times, however, there were scenes where it looked sluggish and failed to delivered the energy from the athleticism of the characters. Those times made them looked quite lazy in fact, which was contrary to what they are as volleyball players. Thankfully, the slow-mo scenes were breathtaking to watch and was as splendid as ever showing off the shots. And for the sounds, the opening and ending themes were pleasant to hear. I'm not sure how to explain it but they have this underlying atmosphere that captured the moral of 'training to become stronger'. As usual, each soundtracks, especially the epic ones, were composed beautifully to go along with their respective moments. Amplifying the 'oomph' of a powerful shot or conveying the disappointment and regrets from losing, the OSTs did a wonderful job. Nothing much to say about the voice-acting other than they also did really well throughout every episode.

There are moments out there when you realized you're witnessing something profoundly great and new. These small period of times can change your perspective, and the many characters of Haikyuu!! felt this, increasing their passion for volleyball. Apply this to myself and pretty much the same thing happened. Having no interest in sports created second thoughts before watching this anime, but I'm glad I picked it up because now I know that I can add 'Sports' as a genre to look out for.

I was meant to do a review for the first season of Haikyuu!!! but too much time passed, so I thought I'll give my opinions on the second season as I've just completed it.

Story: 10
The story to Haikyuu!! isn't too complex which I think is where it thrives the most, and you may know what's going to happen with Karasuno but for me I found that it was the finding out part which was the best thing about this series and the latter. Season 2 follows Karasuno High's Volleyball team as they compete in the spring high preliminaries for a chance to play at ... nationals. Season 2 steam rolls off the back of Season 1's great character moments and throws you into the freight of lesser known characters. Season 2 is much more volleyball-centric than it's predecessor I found myself shouting at the screen half the time because I love to hate Aobajosai and so many of the matches played through this season are so tense.

This series is filled with some of the best humour ive seen from any anime if watched and *certain* character interactions in a *certain* training camp are hilarious especially the teasing.

Art: 10
Always impressed by Haikyuu's art style especially the over exaggerated attacks in a game of volleyball, especially Hinata, Wall Blocks and Oikawas Service Ace.

Sound: 10
As a shounen series I don't expect less of great when it comes to it's soundtrack, I found the soundtrack to Haikyuu!! very bizarre as it blends into the background more than anything. I'm more transfected on the commands the team are throwing at each other, which to be honest I refer to more as a soundtrack than actual music. But when there is tense moments especially the last point of the last game of this season the soundtrack is so perfect I cant fault it.

Characters: 10
If season 1 was about setting up it's main characters then season 2 was building up the array of secondary characters in it's roster, we know our main protagonists by now so the rest of the team get their time to shine. Two characters in particular stole the show when it came to fleshing out backstories and they were Ennoshita and Yamaguchi.

First Ennoshita, when Daichi was injured in a *certain* match against a *certain* team Ennoshita had to come on as a replacement for him. You get to see the pressure he feels about being apart of the team (which he feels he is not) and what role does he play, he has little confidence in himself and it was great to see the show delve into this, he didn't feel as though he was good enough and lost sight of his interest. But when he gets into it hes just as great as a character as Daichi is in his own unique way.

Second is Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi is a similar case to Ennoshita he lacks confidence in himself, but in that *certain* match he embraced the role of decoy serving it was kinda funny to watch if I'm honest. You get to see flashbacks of training sequences which brought him to where he is now, again another perfect example of how good Haikyuu!! is at fleshing out all of their characters.

That's the thing I've always loved about Haikyuu is the way in which each character has a drive, they have problems that they each need to overcome and work well mixing different characters together when you're least expecting it.

Enjoyment: 10
From my ratings you'll be able to tell I absolutely love this series and hold very high on my list of greats, if you love sports anime this is definitely a must watch. Some of the characters including Hinata, Kageyama and Tanaka are so memorable you'll instantly fall in love with them.

Great sports play (you'll actually learn something about volleyball) Great action sequences, great character interactions, a story that has you gripped and hilarious comedy

I cannot recommend this show more.

REVIEW WITH NO SPOILERS

Well i really do not understand how people can give different scores for the season 1 and 2. It is the logic sequence... it means that the values of the anime are the same, but the narrative changes because the facts that happened before.

If you liked season 1, go watch this one immediatly.

ONE ADVICE: Maybe you do not like the first half... but that is NECESSARY and worth it.

Great games! Great moments!! Emotional and apprehensive moments, besides the development of all characthers (yes, this time it happened very well).

I just finished watching the season finale so my thoughts are all over the place so I apologize if this isn't going to be a good review. So,

Is Haikyuu!! second season worth to watch? Hell yeah.
Is Haikyuu!! second season better than the first one? Hell yeah.
What improved in Haikyuu!! second season? Hell yea- I mean, everything.

So, the season has two stories in it; the summer training camp during the first half of the season, and then the tournament games in the second part. Objectively I enjoyed the latter episodes more, but personally I enjoyed the summer camp more because I didn't have mixed feelings about ... it. Just boys having fun and training together - who doesn't love that? Really wished there would've been more of it, really. So yeah, the story was well paced and didn't have any glaring plot holes.

Art style has stayed the same and true to manga, but the camera work has gotten a lot better. Really no complaints here. The voice acting was already great, but that too has improved greatly from the first season.

Since Kageyama and Hinata are the main characters, they obviously have character arcs in every season, but it was nice to see others get their character development arcs in this season, and even though they only lasted like an episode or so, they were able to tell everything we needed to know in such a short time without feeling like it was rushed.

Did I cry while watching this season? Yes, and most of the time it wasn't because of I was sad but because I was so proud of the characters. I usually have a hard time watching anime, even when I really love it, because I get so stressed about what's going to happen, and while that certainly happened while watching Haikyuu!! second season, I always had to click to the next episode. I couldn't stop watching more and more.

So overall, Haikyuu's second season is a great improvement from the first one, and I can't wait to watch the next season, as well as all of the OVAs and stage plays. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who's not sure if they will like a sports anime, because while the story is concentrated around volleyball, it's the characters that make this show so loved.

The second season of the smash-hit sports anime, Haikyuu!! S2 continues the trend of greatness set forth by its predecessor. With stronger character development, a solid (but predictable) plot, various stellar songs, and consistent art, I can see why this is so highly rated on MAL.

[Story - 7]

This season follows the Karasuno team's efforts to grow stronger and make a comeback after suffering a narrow defeat at the hands of Aoba Johsai. The first half follows their rigorous training program, both at their own gym and at the 2 training camp sessions hosted by rival schools, and the second half follows their efforts ... in the Spring High Preliminaries.

Thanks to the hook of the finale for last season, the first half of S2 starts out strong and definitely provides entertainment in both drama and comedy. The latter half, however, is....not that strong. Perhaps it's due to the inevitable plot armour around Karasuno, but it doesn't really surprise anyone. The moments of drama aren't really /that/ dramatic if you're genre-savvy, but they do provide a nice break from the constant tension in each game. I still enjoyed this half nonetheless thanks to the pay-off from the first half, but your mileage will vary, of course.

[Art - 7]

The art hasn't really improved, but neither has it dropped in quality. There's still a lot of consistently strong character design (especially in regards to new characters such as 'Mad Dog' and Bokuto), but some animations are DEFINITELY still being re-used. That being said, I've also noted that they introduced a multitude of new ones, so I'm pleased to see that at least they put more effort there.

[Sound - 9]

The SFX haven't changed as well (naturally), save for some new additions to complement new moves. Still pretty solid here.

The seiyuus keep up the good work, as is expected. Shout-out goes to Yamaguchi's, Yachi's, and Chikara's for injecting TONS of emotion into their characters when given the chance.

The soundtrack has somehow gotten even better: While there are songs from last season that appear, there are even MORE songs now!!! Probably expected by everyone else, but I was so happy to hear them play. The new OPs and EDs are AMAZING, especially for the second half.

[Character - 8]

Characterization has definitely gotten better this time around! Thanks to the developments from both the S1 finale and the first half of S2, everyone on Karasuno goes through some type of development arc that is rather satisfying to see. My personal favourite was Tsukishima's, as he went from someone who was...Just There for snarkiness to a well-rounded character/player that shows considerable promise. Another arc to note is Yamaguchi's, as we get to see how he handles his failures and grows from them to become a valuable pinch server to the team. All in all, everyone on the Karasuno team got really good writing, and the ending they got for this season felt well-earned.

Other characters, however, may not be so fortunate. Since there were multiple schools introduced in the Training and SHP arcs, of course some underdevelopment happened. But like last time, there were a few surprises: Hitoka Yachi, the new Karasuno VBC Manager, brings the cuteness AND gets a small arc dedicated to her; Johzenji High School goes through the challenge of finally figuring out a good playstyle; and Tooru Oikawa has to bring out his best to face his rival, Kageyama, on equal ground. Some characters still remain underdeveloped, like the other staff behind the Karasuno VBC and ace spiker Ushijima, but again, perhaps next season will bring them their due development.

One other notable flaw, however, is melodrama. It was expected, since this IS a sports anime, but.....come on. It just gets really ridiculous sometimes. I hope they tone it down in S3.

[Enjoyment/Overall - 9/8]

Overall, this second season was a BLAST to experience. It was so much fun to revisit the growing pains of Karasuno, and the beginnings of their labour bearing fruit, along with seeing the many new faces introduced throughout these arcs. If you loved the first season, you'll definitely love this season!

Really solid follow up to the first season. At the end of the first season one of my biggest questions was what the team dynamic would look like moving forward since it seemed that Hinata and Kageyama's adversarial relationship had been mostly remediated. Throughout this season It was pretty cool to see the direction they took with their teamwork dynamic, putting an interesting spin on the initial conflict they had. The character development for Tsukishima and Yamaguchi was fun to watch as well. Although overall the plot may be a bit predictable, I still found a lot of enjoyment in watching the team struggle and ... overcome their obstacles. Also, props to the composers for crafting a banger OST.

One thing that has stood out to me throughout both seasons is the sound design. Every time someone hits the ball and especially when they spike it, the sound effects that are used are really intense and satisfying. The animation is pretty great as well. Pretty excited to start season 3.

Haikyuu is one of the best sports anime and its second season more awesome than the first one. Allow me to give my sincere review on this one. Now let's get started first let's talk about last seasons ending, in the last season they were defeated by Aoba Josai and in this season they are going to Tokyo for practice matches.
But they had a few days before that they went to Karasunos infamous heartbreak hill, they ran uphill in pairs of two and as we know that Hinata and Kageyama are super energetic so they went on ahead than everyone else and when they ... realized that they are not with the rest of the team they stopped.
They saw that they are in shiratorizawa district and Hinata said that, isn't that the school where Ushiwaka goes and that's when Ushiwaka says SOMEONE SAY MY NAME and Kageyama tells him that they want to go to his school and spy on them and Ushiwaka allows them to do that.
When they reached their gym for VBC. Ushiwaka insults Kageyama and sweet talks about Oikawa then Hinata steps ahead and tells him that he is going to nationals after kicking his ass to tell you the truth that's the moment that gave me chills.
Afterward, they went to the training camp and lost every set to the other teams. And when they came back they knew what they have to work on to get better Kageyama knew what he and Hinata had to work on but needed a bit of advice so he went to Oikawa.
The coach of the Karasuno volleyball team gave a call to Kageyama and took him to a hotel and told him what he needed to do. Kageyama understood what he was saying and he started working on it i.e a set that stops.
And meanwhile, Hinata was training under old coach Ukai. And he learned how to hit different kinds of sets. Then they went to Tokyo for that golden week training camp and when Kageyama did that falling set for Hinata although he missed.
Hinata knew that something was different about Kageyama then they tried again and again but they missed and on the last day they managed to pull it off and to tell you the truth it was amazingly cool.
They had a BQ meal at the end of the camp and after they went back there was a little time left until the Spring Nationals so they practiced and perfected there new quick attack, now they were ready for there revenge on Aoba Josai. They won the first 3 rounds and their next match was against them yes I am talking about that team Aoba Josai.
Their match went up to the deuce of the third set and because of their new quick attack they won the match and their next match is the finals with Shiratorizawa. That is the team that has one of the top three Aces in japan.
I love this anime it is just awesome..

The second season is what really got me into this show and lead me to binge watch the next seasons and start the manga after. I absolutely love the direction it went to. I learned more about volleyball and got to see so much character growth. Also new characters!! I never thought I would adopt so many kids hahaha.

Character growth is something I absolutely love! More than anything else, to me that is what I prioritize in any show or movie and that is exactly what Haikyuu is! Literally everyone grows as an individual and as a team and that just made my heart full! ... I just love how realistic some of the situations are. I truly was not expecting Karasuno to lose in season 1, but that was exactly what was needed. We see characters who grow and fall back constantly, but still learn how to deal with that by not giving up! It really is reflective of life. Everyone has their own time and we all fail. Some "have it better" than others and we might fail more than the next person, but at the end of the day we are all human. I love it!

The art, animation, and music is top tier as always!

Overall, this season was so enjoyable. I love that Haikyuu makes everyone the hero of their own story (cliche, but done extremely well!).

(SPOILER FREE) Season 2 of Haikyuu!! is pretty damn good. It builds upon season 1 and adds a lot more development in terms of characters and the team of Karasuno as a whole. We get to see the team develop into a more fully fledged... well, team, rather than just a group of individuals.

STORY (no synopsis): The story takes a bit of a backseat in this season as it's more focused on the characters and trying to develop stronger chemistries and shine a light on previous members of Karasuno we didn't really get to see in season 1. And I honestly think this is when ... haikyuu!! is at its strongest. This show doesn't need a grand story or anything of that sort, it's about high school volleyball through the eyes of Hinata and it's about Karasuno's rise back to glory. The show hits those story beats by giving us more character development and more development inside the team. All while not dragging as much as in season 1, some flashbacks and some explanations can drag it down a tad but they are also kinda necessary for us to understand what's going on. 7/10

ART & ANIMATION: Once again, the art and animation is still really good. If anything, it has improved because of bigger budget etc. I don't have much to say here other than that it still looks really good and volleyball still looks fun as hell. 8/10 Oikawa's serves looked godlike.

SOUND & MUSIC: Same situation here as in the previous category, the music is still pretty much the same from season 1 as well as the sound design. This show is really good at capturing the sound of a gymnasium filled with volleyball and giving it a great soundtrack to boot. 9/10

CHARACTER: They hinted at it in season 1, but Hiakyuu!! is a show that is driven by the characters. This time around we get even more character development all while introducing new teams with their own relationships and chemistries. We also get interesting tidbits about our main cast, like how Kageyama is painted to be this really smart genius but that's only true in terms of volleyball. He's actually below average in his studies. We get more of Tsukishima which is great because in season 1 he was just kinda the smug asshole of the team but now we're getting more of WHY he's a smug asshole. Stuff like this is what makes season 2 so much better than season 1. 8/10

OVERALL: If I had to summarize this well, I'd say that season 2 is season 1 but more. It has more volleyball, more characters and more good ass anime. 8/10 Bokuto looks like ass tho.

It has higher highs than the first season, but also lower lows.

Our boys are back for the second season and with them comes along their desires to improve at playing volleyball. Their desire is so great that the entire first half of this season is dedicated to their efforts of improvement.

While I believe this long training arc is necessary, it is definitely the low point of the season. Don’t get me wrong though, as far as training arcs are concerened this is one of the best omes you can find. There are lots of practice games against teams we know, introductions to teams/players we ... don’t, and techniques that provide depth and complexity to the games. But, esspecially on my second time watching, I found myself wanting to skip though to the tournament (or rather a specific game in the tournament).

Speaking of the tournament, the first two games, while still good, were never as good as the tournament games in the first season. A lot of this comes from knowing that Karasono won’t lose them, so when they really take their time it is almost like the anime is playing coy knowing we all really want to see that final game.

And once the final game comes, boy it is some of the most hype anime you will see. There are so many fantastic moments in this final game. Everything that the characters did in that training arc recieves a payoff in this game and it makes you feel like all that time was worth while.

This is coupled by the fantastic art, music, and direction that was present in the first season to create one of the most satisfying ends to an anime season.

Also, I know this is kind of haphazardly thrown in, but I found the humor in this season to be worse than the first season. Not sure what about it made it so, but I definetly laughed less in this season than the first one.

All in all, between the subdued, but necessary, first half and the fantastic ending, the second season of Haikyuu!! delivers on the hype you expect on an unexpectedly slow build.

It’s closer to a 9 than a 7.

It's very ironic that I'm not really into sports anime but I'm an athlete myself. This anime blew away my expectations of it. From the sounds, animation, and characters are really well made. Each character has their own screen time that at times you will forget who is really the main protagonist of the anime. This anime can be really can be a big hit once the last season will air and probably give them tears by the end. This anime continues to blow my mind when each school goes against each other in games. No team has a plot convenience, each team use their ... knowledge of the game and what they have learned from training and from past matches.

"Haikyuu!! Second Season" continues the story from the first season, presents more challenges for "Hinata Shouyou" and her team. It covers the universe of the series, with more schools and teams. Haikyuu!! Second Season features immersive new matches and improved animation, choreography, and complex physical abilities for both the Karasuno team and their opponents.

The story remains very good, each match is engaging and unique. It makes you celebrate the victories and feel the defeats as if it were your heart team. The animation is great and fluid, which enhances the movements during games. The old characters are more explored and the new ones are fun ... and their motivations are understandable (which can make the viewer feel represented in some character).

Therefore, Haikyuu!! Second Season continues to be an extremely good Sports Shounen, with exemplary scene choreography, friendly characters and a nice story to follow. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first season.

Continuing the flow from my review on Haikyuu!!... I'd say that this season picks up really well from where the first season left off. Similar to how I started that review I'd say this season is where the flock of crows start to work themselves into that "polished diamond" that they never were in the first place.

Admittedly I don't think they got there in this season either but I'll be damned if there wasn't a lot of improvements and new "tricks" added that they "borrow" from some of the other schools that were in the intensive training camp.

I like to think of this season ... as being pretty much split in two and I liked the way it was done. For the vast majority of the first half of the season we see Karasuno being whipped into shape in the gym. As that's happening we do actually get to see some individual character development both inside and outside the gym. I personally think they did well with it overall. We even got to see small bits into Nekoma and Fukurodani. Some of the best comedy of the season came from little scenes involving a mix of players from either of the teams which I appreciated.

The first half of the season comes to a conclusion pretty much with the ending of the training camp and if the lack of intensity gets to you then rest assured there's enough in the last half to satisfy and then some.

I honestly liked all of the games in the second half of this season a ton. I think a big reason why I can say that is that I didn't forget one big thing here... There is the SHOUNEN tag attached to this Anime along with Sports and Comedy. There are some things that we just have to take along with us for the ride because it is also a shounen... I also happen to think they do more than a good job going into the thoughts of the players during the matches while the ball is in motion or there is a stop in play momentarily. I think I can enjoy that aspect of this franchise because while it might not always be realistic, that's okay! This is a work of fiction, some stuff can be exaggerated. While it might be a little over the top sometimes, even though I've never played volleyball in my life, I can really imagine an actual person thinking some of that stuff to himself in mid rally that they do.

I thought the soundtrack to this Anime was great and shockingly enough it was the second season when I really started to notice. I didnt even realize they used quite a few tracks over from the first season in the second season. The only reason I noticed at all was because of my re-watch of the franchise. The way they used snippets of a lot of the tracks in the volleyball games during the second half really brought everything out I think. Which is why I really latched onto the music in the second season and not the first.

I believe this was a fine continuation of the franchise. I still think this a worthwhile franchise for anyone to watch as an introduction to the sports genre. If you can take some stuff with a grain of salt I think youll end up loving it.

Let me start out that I actually gave up reading and watching Haikyuu 3-4 years ago because I started to get bored with the series. I started rewatching/watching Haikyuu just a few days ago and I have whizzed through the episodes since then.

Story: 9/10

Haikyuu feels a bit repetitive at times. Perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that the second season in particular is a training camp then a tournament, thus many more volleyball games happening in the season.

Also, being simple does not equal bad! In fact, it made Haikyuu much more easier to approach as someone who doesn't really know much about sports. ... Haikyuu has piqued my interest in volleyball, which has never happened with me when I watched other sports animes.

I would have to say that a characteristic of Haikyuu (this season) is that a "special move" is not invincible; the characters are always looking for ways to thwart or overcome this obstacle. I think that the execution of the "special move" of the characters are well-done in that they are show-stoppers, but not invincible. For example the geniuses in Haikyuu are not unbeatable, but have their own mistakes and human aspects.

Art: 10/10

Whenever I watch Haikyuu, it feels like I'm standing on the sidelines directly watching the game. The animation is beautiful and fluid. Kudos to the animators!

Sound: 7/10

The music wasn't bad... but at times personally it didn't feel like a good fit for the episode, and at times it did... It's hard to explain, but the vibe of the music could've matched Haikyuu better.

Characters: 10/10

I have to agree that Haikyuu does appear to have simple/repetitive shounen sports trope, especially in the first season, but by the second season the author did an excellent job honing the characters. The best trait of Haikyuu's characters is that no one is strictly the bad guy--there's a rather yin and yang approach not only between opposing teams, but also between Karasuno's members. Every character evolves in their own way and it's marvelous to watch this unfold. Especially when you see secondary/supporting characters in season 1 get their own screen time, it's incredibly heartwarming and blood-pumping.

Enjoyment: 10/10

Haikyuu had me on the edge of my seat, cheering one moment once a spike got through, pulling my hair out in anticipation, and everything in between. This is the anime you should watch if you want to be carried away by the story, characters, and animation.

As a now-avid fan of Haikyuu, I look forward to the next matches of Haikyuu. The story and characters are done are done in such a well-paced and captivating manner, you will be sure to be enthralled by Karasuno and definitely other opponents as well!!

It would be hard to mess up an additional season of "Haikyuu". All we really wanted was more narrative fat to chew on. This second season manages to also bring sinew, bone and muscle to the table. The quality and consistency of animation has improved upon an already reputable bar, with impressionistic moments being used more tastefully. There is an enjoyable amount of dimensionality felt within many of the games, particularly the pen-ultimate match within this arc. Unfortunately this doesn't stop the copy-paste colour coded cheering squads carrying on over from the first season...

Detaching familiarity with characters from genuinely quality development and backstory can ... be challenging, but I feel confident in saying that this season expands greatly on many previously seen characters (as well as adding many adorable extras into the mix). The female managers no longer remained sitting at the narrative side lines, and previously sullen/cynical "Tsukki" was possibly cuter than had been ordained. Haikyuu's team of crows demonstrates that when the going gets tough, the tough really do get going.
